Kevin was courteous and consultative, and once we agreed to go with him, he was able to quickly schedule time for the work to be done [fitting us in quicker than originally estimated].
The crew arrived on time, was not disruptive at all, and completed the entire job in basically 3 days. What was really nice is that they seemed to take extra care in not damaging any of the plants/grass around the walkway and were great about cleaning up the site.
Ultimately, the result and the whole experience could not have gone better, and I will not hesitate to recommend Kevin and crew to others.
His crew was right on time. They were friendly, polite and courteous. Their workmanship exceeded my very high expectations that I got from his other reviews. It turned out so well that I and having them come back out to stain and seal my pool deck!
Stop looking around for a concrete guy....O'Leary Concrete/Kevin is your clear choice.
His guys arrived when he said they would, and worked through some less than perfect weather. They were very knowledgeable and courteous. They and Kevin both communicated throughout the process to make sure we were all on the same page and we were getting what we wanted. The entire job was completed in about 3 days, as he had estimated. They cleaned up the site well, and their work looks great.
The only detail for which I give them less than a perfect mark is that the forms for the large steps bowed during the pour, the result being the risers have a slight curvature. With these steps being so large, this was a lot of concrete, and the force against these forms was tremendous. Although they seemed adequately braced, they still bowed. This is a minor detail to us, and otherwise the quality of their work was great.
Kevin and his crew should be congratulated for their customer service. In my experience in the building trades, this is a rare commodity.
His crew is hard working, friendly, and responsive. They clearly know what they are doing and have bought in to the drive of Kevin to do the best job possible. I liked the fact that Kevin, as the owner of the business, was on the job sight working right alongside his crew. No chance that anything is going to be missed when the owner of the business is this hands on. I also took it as a good sign of the successfulness of his business when he originally quoted me a four month lead time to do the job. How many businesses can say they have that kind of backlog at present?
I called on Kevin because of the previous postings on Angie's List and I was not disappointed in any way. Are there vendors who will do the work for less? Probably, but price is not the only issue when spending a decent amount of money on a capital improvement to a home. Kevin's reputation is well earned, and very much deserved, and clearly, I would use his services again in a heartbeat, and likely will when it comes to replacing my deck with a new concrete patio.
Kevin arrived with his crew, Joe and Dan, on Wednesday and started the form installation. This include using a jackhammer to remove the existing concrete sidewalk up to the porch. We had an appointment that took us away for about three hours and when we returned the form was finished, the driveway and patio power washed and all the left over lumber and broken concrete removed.
The next day was most impressive. The concrete was delivered and placed in the form. Kevin had to leave to work on another project leaving Joe and Ray to complete the work. They leveled and smoothed the concrete surfaces. After the concrete had set enough, Joe spread a premixed mixture of color pigment and cement by hand over all the surfaces. This was then worked into the surface with both trowels and a float. The color powder was then spread and worked in a second time to ensure a uniform color. Then when the concrete had set enough to support their weight, Joe and Ray placed rubber mats, which had the surface pattern we had selected, on top of the concrete. Then by hand slapping or with a stamping tool transferred the pattern from the rubber sheets to the concrete. This was not easy as the rubber sheets were very heavy. Joe made sure that the surface pattern was correct, going back over the concrete several times too get a good blend of the pattern.
Then when the concrete has sufficient strength but not fully set, they removed the forms from the sides of the porch and sidewalk. They made a thick slurry of the color pigment mix with water and troweled the into the side surfaces. Smaller rubber mats were placed against these surfaces and the same pattern impressed into the colored surface.
After all the surfaces had been impressed, they again picked up and removed all their equipment. They next removed all dirt that had gotten onto the previously cleaned driveway and hand rolled on a sealer.
On the third day, Kevin returned with Dan and added a second colored pigment liquid mixture to the already fully hardened concrete surface. This color mixture collected in the grooves and recesses that had been impressed into the surface. When this was dry, they rolled on a sealer which made the second color much more visible. Both my wife and I were so pleased with the final results.
Kevin and Joe removed all their remaining equipment and even raked the lawn where the grass had been tamped down during the construction process.
At all times during the work, all the workers were very courteous and most eager to answer any questions. I really enjoyed having them here and the excellent work they did.
Since it was October and I did not want to pour concrete in the colder weather we decided to wait until spring time to have the work done.
Beginning of April 2011 Kevin followed up with a phone call to ask me if we were ready to have the work done. I said yes and kevin scheduled to come out and review the project again with my wife and I. Kevin was very helpful in the design and color choice. Once we settled on the design and color we scheduled the work to be done in the beginning of May.
Kevin and his crew did a excellent job. They were very punctual, proffesional and neat. They cleaned up very well everyday before leaving for the day.
I have received numerous complements on how nice my new porch adn landing area looks.
I would recommend O'Leary concrete to anyone who needs concrete work done. Kevin is very easy to work with and will stand behind his work.
In the near future we are going to have Kevin come back and put in a new back patio for us.
the old drive being very careful not to hit a roof drian going under the drive. The next day they poured. From start to end they were
asking if ever think was being done like I wanted.I am very pleased with the work that was done.
Contacted O'Leary Concrete (Kevin) 4 months in advance of of the date that he delivered his services. It took 4 months for him to get to my job due to his backlog - which is obviously a good sign that he has plenty of work. During that period, Kevin kept me informed on his schedule and the anticipated time that he would get to me. His communication was good.
I gave him a rough idea of what we was looking for and he helped us identify and create exactly what we wanted. The 3 days that the O'Leary team was on site went very smoothly - again delivering on everything that he said he would. Work was done exactly as I had hoped and is beautiful. Both Kevin and his entire team were very professional and friendly. They did an excellent job of cleaning up and putting everything back in order. We were very pleased with every aspect of the experience and the quality of work.
After a week, I called Kevin with a minor concern. He and a member of his crew were out the next day and immediately addressed the concern to my satisfaction.
The whole experience with O'Leary concrete was very good, and I would highly recommend them for any patio or driveway work.
