 + -1 moreThe Blind and Sons guy came out on time but he was on another call, a customer, and he seemed like he wasn't really interested in us. He spent most of his time on his phone with another customer. We knew that we had a leak because we dug it out ourselves. Then he wanted to come back and do a camera survey and charge us for that service and we haven't done any work yet. The guy was not very good and didn't seem like he knew what he was doing.
Description of Work: Blind and Sons came out just to give us a quote and tell us we had a leak.

 + -1 moreI will be using them again in July. The price was very reasonable. They were the soonest that could come out. They did a great job. They showed their ID's. They said when they were coming. They were very thorough. They said they would fix it for me. They knew exactly what to do when my previous provider couldn't even do anything about it even though I have used them for 8 years. I just dropped my previous company. I decided to go with their maintenance plan, which was cheaper than my previous provider. I liked them way better than my previous provider.
Description of Work: Blind And Sons LLC came out and fixed my air conditioner as it had stopped working due to the lightning when I went out for a vacation. They told the surge protector was installed outside of the house instead of the inside. They had to repair the inside breaker box as the outside was okay. The outside air conditioner was okay. They came and checked my furnace and will be coming to check my air conditioner.

 + -1 moreWe purchased a new complete hi effiicency HVAC system from Blind and Sons to replace our aging, undersized system. We wanted to add an advanced air filtration system and humidifier to this system that will remove dust, pollen, etc from the air. Blind and Sons came out and performed all of the measurements and calculations needed to accurately assess our needs. They answered all of our questions and presented several options. The sales representative was very friendly, arrived on time, did not rush us, and addressed our concerns. He measured every room, windows, skylight, and door opening to ensure proper measurements and airflow calculations,. They provided us with all of the pertinent calculations and numbers necessary for us to make our decision and did not rush us when we told him we wanted to get some other quotes. They did not hassle us with many follow up calls and were professional throughout the entire process. Blind and Sons gave us an excellent price for the system, and offered excellent financing terms. They were able to schedule the work within a week and the work was done within a day. The installation went smoothly and this included some additional duct work we had done to increase the cold air /return input that we increased. The crew was very good and explained the work that was done in detail and cleaned up all of their messes. All old equipment was removed and disposed of properly. We were very happy with the work they performed and highly recommend them to anyone looking at having a new Trane HVAC system installed.

Description of Work: We have used Blind and Sons for clearing out clogged sewers, for jetting our sewer line clean as could be, and they have also brought out their camera for us, and for a good friend, to see what kind of challenges we had with our sewer, and with the drain tile for my friend. They are incredibly reasonably priced compared to everyone else! Because we had already used them, they will bring out the camera to check your situation for free! We have used Blind & Sons for this at our home, at our rental and at our church building as well. We also had them work on our church air conditioners and they did a great job here also!

 + -1 moreFollowing last November's hurricane remnants that affected NE Ohio, I began having hazardous electrical issues related to my outdoor service. Blind and Sons, out of all the other electrical service providers I contacted in NE Ohio, were able to squeeze me in. Because I live in another state, the electrician kept in contact with me by phone and sent photos of his progress from beginning to end. Blind and Sons certainly went above and beyond; I would recommend them to anyone and most definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Blind and sons replaced the100 amp outdoor electrical service on the exterior of my home, replaced a standard breaker in my breaker panel and installed a surge protector.

The one thing that I didn't like was the thermostat on the wall was a little crooked. When I brought it to their attention though they fixed it right away.

 + 0 moreThe technician told my Mother in Law that the bathtub faucet replacement would require removing tile. Instead, he replaced the kitchen sink faucet. I was never contacted. My Mother in Law paid him $1,250 for two sink faucets. I contacted Blind. They said that they had the note from me, that I be contacted prior to performing additional work, and that there be no up-selling They would contact the technician and get back to me. They never did. We have used Blind for years, and had my wife's mother use them as well. She has maintained service contracts with them, but due to her advanced age, I have always discussed the work to be performed with the technician in advance. While our past experience with Blind has been good, this incident was inexcusable. She did not have $1,250 to spare for two faucet replacements.
Description of Work: Asked them to replace a bathtub faucet and a bathroom sink faucet for my 89 year old Mother in Law, and to contact me prior to performing any other work or up-selling.

I find their price to be very reasonable, and they are very professional. I use them all the time; they come out on a regular basis to check and make sure everything's okay.

 + -1 moreThere isn't just one event to describe. My judgement of them is based on years of dealing with them. At the end of all of it, I don't think they are a responsible business.
Description of Work: I've been using Blind and Sons for years - for a furnace installation and fall tuneups, hot water tank, etc. They will be available. They will show up. They will find something to charge you a LOT of money for. My experience is that they try to get you to sign up for something as soon as they walk in the door - always with the sales pitch that they will be able to offer you a discount on today's service if you include it in a larger maintenance package. (Today I had a furnace outage; the first question the tech asked when he arrived was whether I'll be wanting the service on the air conditioner in the spring, etc....) I've probably used them a dozen times. It's always that way. I would liken them to a service station that tries to sell you an engine block when you come in for an oil change. The new engine block will probably be more efficient and less demanding of the oil, - but you don't need it. They will proceed as if you don't know that, then they will try to convince you that you do. My worst experience with them was actually the worst. I had a Lennox Pulse furnace cutting out on occasion due to (as was subsequently discovered) a partially blocked air exhaust. Before determining the actual cause of the problem, they diagosed it as a faulty circuit board. That was replace, but the furnace went out again the very next day. They then determined that the furnace had simply reached obsolence due to age. Spending more money on it would be a waste - SO I SHOULD GET A NEW FURNACE. (In other words, they didn't know what the problem was, so the "solution" was to buy a new furnace from them.) I did indeed follow their advice and installed a TRANE XR 90. The day after the installation (in 2006) the brand new furnace cut out just as the old Lennox had been doing. This time a new tech came out, checked and cleared the partial blockage of the outlet pipe, and the problem was solved. When I addressed the fact that my new furnace had not really been needed because of their misdiagnosis, there was no apology, no corrective action NOTHING! It's taken me years to come to this conclusion. But I no longer consider them a reputable company.

They didn't need to change any of the connectors or anything. All the guy did was connect the new faucet. It took about 20 minutes. I would have done it myself, but I have a bad shoulder and I couldn't reach up while laying under the sink. We also had him change a bad trap in the upstairs sink and he charged $195 for that. I would never use this company again. I can't believe the guy had the gall to charge me so much for something that took him 20 minutes to install.  + -1 moreThe service providers were promp and courteous and very informative. Explanations of the service were made prior to the start. All steps were explained in detail. Responses to questions were easily understood as they were made in common terms. Diagrams were drawn as visual aids. Protective covers were placed over shoes when entering the house. Tarps were laid over carpeted traffic areas. All trash, debris, and dirt was removed in addition to the old furnace and electrical panel. My opinions were solicited when choices were at hand and permission was asked if other areas of the house needed to be visited.
Description of Work: Replaced electrical panel and furnace. Installed air conditioning.

Description of Work: I had an ongoing problem of a breaker that tripped regularly and flickering of lights upstairs and in my garage. I initially though that the breaker tripping was related to the light flickering. The electrician sent out by Blind and Sons found the problem, which was that water leaked into my electrical box, corroding the circuit to which the flickering lights were connected. Unfortunately, the corrosion was severe enough to warrant the purchase of a new electrical box. The tripping breaker was unrelated. I have not had any electrical problems since. I can't judge whether the price was excellent, so I just said it was good. You do however, get what you pay for.

Description of Work: Our Water heater was leaking and we have had Blind and Sons out before to do work for us on the A/C unit. They quoted us $1,656 for a 50 gallon Bradford White water heater, about double what it cost us through using Frecka Plumbing. Frecka installed a 50 gallon Rheem water heater. I have had bad luck with Bradford White water heaters. The last two only lasted 4 years each. I really think that Blind and Sons is a rip off. Sure they had a water heater in the Vehicle when they came out to give us a quote, for that price, it's worth it. Frecka gave us a quote over the phone without having to come to the house.

Description of Work: I have used Blind & Sons for my home and now for our church as well. At our home they snaked our sewer to the road, and then came back and "jetted" all of the tree roots that had grown in our sewer line. For our church, they cleared a major clog of junk that was stopping up half of our building.

 + -1 moreWorkers arrived promptly. My crawl space where the furnace was was built around the furnace so there was little or no room for them to remove the old unit. The workers carefully removed the crawl space door and completely dismantled the old unit and installed the new one. The A/C unit was difficult to reach and on a very sloped terrain but they managed to replace it without any difficulty. They worked from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 at night to complete the job and kept me apprised of their progress. The workers were polite and professional and cleaned up everything before leaving. I am very happy with the service I received. The gentleman who gave me my estimate also arrived promptly for our appointment, thoroughly checked the situation and was courteous and professional, giving me more than one option that I could choose from. I now have a service contract with the company and am very satisfied with the experience.
