Disaster case. Definitely be on your guard if you decide to hire. I will take responsibility here that I was the person on site for the initial service, but I did not double check with my husband, who was the one who made the appointment and detailed the scope of work to the company, what that scope of work entailed. First, Eric was 20 minutes late....and he gave me 5 minutes notice that he was going to be so. Appoint was in the middle of my work day so I was flexing my time, would have been nice to get that call earlier so I could didn't have as much time to make up. When Eric got there he reviewed scope of work from the work order (install locations), talked to my husband on the phone about the needs in the garage, and gave me a pricing estimate. He did not show me the details of the work that he priced out, just gave me the price that I signed off on. It took an hour and a half for Eric to do the install of the garage outlet and the replacement of the two outlets in the kitchen. While doing the kitchen install I was asked if I wanted him to reuse the same covers; I told him yes if he could. When our buyers walked through the property in the evening, we were informed that electrical work promised was not performed as per the contingency contract. The problem was the outlets in the kitchen: they were supposed to have been replaced with GFCI outlets, but were not. I called the company and they were very responsive to my urgent need to get this fixed (we are set to close on the property in a couple days) and were able to promise to get someone back out to the premises to make the exchange as per the original work order. Because I wasn't able to flex my time at work again to oversee the re-install, Eric was given our lockbox code so he could access the property on his own. We figured we could trust him to do what was needed. Eric called me and left a message at 3:26 PM to let me know that he was finished with the outlets. Approximately 5:30 I visited the property to ensure that the correct thing was installed and send a picture to the realtor to pass on to the buyers. The first thing I noticed upon approaching the property is that there was shattered glass all over the porch, and the screen door was fully shut. In the voicemail left to me, there was no mention of this damage. Eric claims that it was not broken when he left. With no witnesses, obviously, it cannot be proven what happened. However, after having lived at the property for 3 years and rented it for another 2, I knew the signs of what had occurred: the screen door has never shut properly (even after tightening) and on windy days, if the person accessing the door does not close it properly, it will swing open with the wind and slam into the side of the property, and break the globe of the exterior light fixture. This has happened so many times to me and my husband (we have small children so the door repeatedly wouldn't get closed correctly) as well as our tenants that I am absolutely certain of what caused the light to break. (After all, it didn't magically shatter in the 2 hour period between when Eric left and I got there, SOMETHING caused it to break. There was no evidence of this something at 5:30 when I was on site.) I called the company to let them know of the damage, and they responded to me the next day to let me know they were backing up their employee's story. Which makes sense: there is no proof, no witnesses. I just wanted to let the company know (before just posting a bad review here) that they had a potentially bad, untrustworthy employee, and should they choose to use him in the future, they were liable to get complaints in the future about his work. Their story: Eric told them that I instructed him different than the work order on the day of the initial visit. That is simply not true. Since I didn't know the full scope of the work (which I admitted to him while he was there, and also why I had him talk to my husband about the garage outlet), I couldn't possibly have instructed him to do something different than what was laid out for him. Knowing that he was untruthful about this, makes me even more certain that he is being untruthful about the breaking of the globe. The company also tried to placate me by assuring me that I made out because I didn't end up paying for the GFCI outlets. I only paid the original $142 to replace two STANDARD outlets in the kitchen. Replace, not wire new/create new holes in the wall etc. I think that pricing is outrageous. According to Home Depot's website, we could have purchased and installed the GFCI outlets ourselves for about $50, meaning we got charged $90 for a professional to take 15 minutes to install two things....and they were the WRONG things, making it even more of a ridiculous upcharge. The fact that the company thought I was somehow benefiting because I didn't have to pay even more because their pricing is out of whack, is just absurd. I will say that this is my first bad experience with someone I found on Angie's list. In all other instances the price for service may have been higher than what I could find on my own, but I was happy to pay it to have the job done correctly the first time by someone trustworthy so I didn't have to deal with this nonsense. As I write this, another Angie's List company is at the site installing a new garage door, without my presence. I've used them before and they have shown themselves to be in line with my core values as a consumer, and I know I can trust them to get the work done. (Which is why they have won my repeat business and my recommendation.) Overall, I am very disappointed in this experience, and will definitely never be using this contractor again, nor will I be ever recommending this contractor to anyone.

Called Blind and Sons about the clogged floor drain, and they told me that they could have someone out there that day. They were having a special on clogged drains, and the price was $99.00. Said a service person who was in the area would call and give me about a 15-20 min. window when they would be coming. About 30 min. later, Scott Bray called and said he could be there in about 45 minutes. He was on time, was very professional and knowledgeable. He promptly snaked out the drain, and checked to see that it was all clear. I also had him look at a toilet that would not stop running sometimes, and he said that flapper needed to be replaced. He called around for the part, but would have to drive to Akron to retrieve it, and I would have to pay for the time. Because of the extra cost to get the part, I did not have that job performed. He charged me the $99 as quoted, and then emailed me a receipt. Several times in the past, I have needed a plumber, and NEVER got one out the same day I called. I would DEFINITLY use this company again, and I would ask for Scott! Thank You.

I purchased their $99 Drain cleaning service on Angies list by clicking on the BUY ME tab so the service was already paid for when the tech came. I was able to give 3 dates and times that would work for me online when I purchased the service. Shelly called me to schedule the appointment and told me that, since I scheduled online, I would get an additional $10 off. When the tech came, he looked at his computer and said that it would be $89. I told him that I had already paid $99 through Angies list. He looked confused and admitted that he never heard of that before and had to call to verify. I think the techs should know about the different ways someone can pay for their services. They never addressed the fact that I essentially overpaid by spending $99 for a $89 service. I think Anthony did a great job and worked extra hard to unclog the drain and give recommendations on proper care. I would use them again but felt that i got goofed out of $10.

This was amazing! From Rick Schweikert who came to give us a quote on Monday 9/21 to the 2 men who cleaned our ducts two days later, things could not have been better. We are totally impressed with this service. We were shown what was taken out of the ducts & there was absolutely no mess left. if anyone thinks your house will be filled with dust after the cleaning, it is just not true. No dust left anywhere.

Glenn was personable, knowledgeable, efficient, pleasant and accomplished all that was required to restore my outdoor light. It went very well. Techs Michael F. & Adam R. arrived on time, assessed situation - went to work. They worked steadily for about 4 hours or slightly more and during the time they were putting the equipment away, a duct was discovered that had not been cleaned because it was hidden behind a trash can in the kitchen. They got the equipment back out and cleaned it without complaint. They were very polite and knew what they were doing - a great crew!

The two gentlemen were promptly at the house after a courtesy call letting us know they were on their way. They also called the day before to confirm the appointment. Can't get better than that. They were very courteous and went right to work. they were very careful not to track dirt in from the outside and used drop cloths throughout the house and vacuumed after cleaning the ducts from the top floor to the basement. They took time to make sure we understood everything being done and to show us what was removed from the ducts after completing the work. Don't be fooled by the cut rate duct cleaners. They do not do a complete job and only do a small number of registers. Blind and Son cleans ALL hot and cold air registers and then removes the dirt from the main duct in the basement.

AC did not blow cold air when I turned it on for the first time of the season. It was Mothers day Sunday but I had paid for the MVP program which has service 24/7 with no overtime. So I called since I didn't want to call off work on Monday to get the AC fixed. I called about 9:00am was on hold for 15 minutes, when I got someone they asked if I wanted someone to come out that day. I said yes. They said the technician would call me.The technician called about an hour later. He asked if I wanted service that day. I said yes. He said there were about 10 people in front of me and they were closed so he didn't know if he could get to me. He said he would call later if he could make it out. About 5:00pm a tech called and asked if I wanted someone to come out. I said yes. He came out about a 15 minutes later. He looked at the AC and said that it must have leak. There was very little refrigerant left. He gave estimates for replacing the refrigerant, $600 having Stop Leak put in (with no guarantee) and replace the refrigerant $900 or having a search for the leak which did not include fixing the leak. He said he could arrange for someone to come out and give me a quote for new AC. The next day someone called and left a phone mail. I called back and was on hold for 10-15, transferred, put on hold again for 5 minutes. I made and appointment for the next day. I got a quote for a couple of options for a new system $4500. tSince my AC was only 7 years old and was already a high-efficiency and I had never had any problems before, I chose to try to find the leak and fix it. I called the office, was on hold for 10-15 minutes. I could only take off work on Thursday and they could not come out then so I made the appointmen for the next Friday. The tech came out and searched for the leak. This involves spraying soapy water on the joints of the pipes and seeing if there are any bubbles. There weren't. He took the cost of the leak search off of the bill. I decided to do the stop leak with no guarantee, replace the refrigerant and take my chances. He also replaced a capacitor which he said was out of spec. Both techs were professional and polite. They provided an explanation of what was happening and provided me with options. Price includes my discount for being paid for MVP program.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a leak in air conditioner. Searched for leak. Put Stop Leak into air conditioner. Replaced capacitor.

This company may be well skilled and have done a wonderful job in our home. However, as a young working couple, we will never know because they were not able to provide ANY information without first demanding $90.00 just to come out and give a quote without an inkling as to how much we would be looking at spending to actually do the job... Best of luck, my friends.

Blind and Sons did a wonderful job on our house. The repair man came to the house Tuesday morning and we found out our 25 year old furnace needed over $1,000 worth of repairs (blower motor and more) to get it back into working condition. However, I determined that I wasn't going to be putting that much money into a 25 year old furnace. On Wednesday night, the salesman came over to discuss different options and pricing for the new furnace in my house. Since my existing air conditioning unit was pushing 20 years old, I decided it was a good time to just replace both pieces of equipment. Much to my surprise, in the middle of the summer, I had the installers at my house the next morningp at 8:30 AM. The three installers (two full time guys and one temp) were very professional, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. They were done with the job by 2:30 PM and I had a full functioning HVAC system. The installers were very knowledgeable and showed me how the entire system worked, what to do if something went wrong and gave me a maintenance schedule to keep my 10 year parts and labor warrant valid. The service I received was top notch and I am very happy with Blind and Sons.

We submitted an online request to have someone come out. Hours went by and we did not hear from anyone. We moved to the phone number that was given to us on the schedule receipt with the hopes of reaching someone. It was late in the day on a Friday so we assumed there would be no availability for today but some time this weekend for emergency service. We reach "Sam" at the company and asked to make an appointment tomorrow (Saturday) as the air conditioner was not working. We were told that they were booked and scheduling out to the 26th of June (over a week away). We asked whether they had emergency service. We were told they had no openings this evening, as expected. We asked about emergency service on Saturday, and they do not have emergency service on Saturday's. Apparently, A/C and furnace's are only allowed to break and require emergency service during weekdays. I would not recommend this company due to their inability to provide emergency service outside of the 9-5 work week. A professional company would understand the industry and the variables involved, and provide that type of service to customers while increasing their staff in order to adequately attend to the service area's needs. At this point, we hung up and moved to a better company who was willing to service the needs of customers.

Jibreel gave me good information and reasons to replace the AC rather than just replace the compressor. His tests determined that the starting capacitor had failed and that the compressor was operating well below efficiency. He replaced the bad capacitor and topped up the refrigerant after getting the unit producing some some cooling. he then explained the details of what he had done and he replaced the filter because it had reached the end of its effectiveness. He then pointed out the need to replace it and set up an appointment for us to get an estimate for the replacement. Jibreel answered all of our questions very professionally in such a way that someone not familiar with AC terms and technology could understand the problem. We have used Blind & Sons for several years and have always found their personnel very competent in their field and persons who like what they are doing. We will continue to use this company and recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Our technician Jibreel Hawkins performed a thorough check of our troubled AC unit, performed a temporary fix to keep it going till we could replace it.

There was a scheduling mix-up at the beginning, which was a little inconvenient. But once the plumber arrived he was very professional and did the job properly. He even took time to explain the proper way to snake a bathtub drain so I could do it myself in the future. Can't ask for much more than that.

The A/C work went well, but the info they sent me about the plumbing repairs were difficult to understand as it was worded for a plumber and not someone who isn't familiar with the terminology, I would like them to send info out in a way that I can understand it.
