To me, the worst part of this type of process is getting the estimate. If you do not have the necessary knowledge, you can be easily swayed to spend more money than necessary. Blind and Sons did not attempt to do that at all. Kevin's patience and knowledge during the estimate process was refreshing. It wasn't like he was talking from a prepared company speech. I did not feel I was being rushed to make a decision. When questioned, Kevin responded with information that was helpful and accurate. It was a mixture of all the different and positive aspects of this first encounter that solidified my decision to use Blind and Sons for the work I needed to get done. As far as the installation process went, let me first commend Cody K., Greg D., Kevin M. and Demetrius for their professionalism, talent, expertise and great personalities for doing such an outstanding job. Seeing you all work together as a team was was remarkable. Everyone had a job to do and they did it. They helped each other when needed and never argued. It was great to have these people doing the installations. During the whole process, Cody made sure I was informed as to where they were in the process. He explained "stuff" to me so I know why certain things were being completed in a certain way, Due to the amount of code updates what were needed to be done, the constant information/updates made the process easier to comprehend. There was a lot of work being done. From adding direct connect air returns, CO2 sensor installation, etc., the work was not rushed. It took two (2) days to complete all the tasks. The workers were always on time, cleaned up before leaving on both days and honestly seemed to enjoy their work. I do need to note that the finished work was amazing to see. Everything in place, and a place for everything. Any issues that may have come up, were immediately resolved. No one ever tried to double-talk me. In closing I want to say that saying I was impressed with the quality of the work is an understatement. Cody, Greg, Kevin and Demetrius are a definite plus to Blind and Sons. Thanks guys. I was also having a problem with a light in my kitchen that would flicker, Eric Layne was very professional, helpful and respectful(by not making me feel stupid because of mistake I made) He explained what was causing the problem I was having and after the problem was corrected he told me how to avoid that problem in the future by purchasing the correct bulbs.
Description of Work: Looked at the cable switch and explained that those where not the type of switches that the ad where referring to.

The workers that came were very professional and courteous. They informed me of what they were doing, when they opened the outlet there were quite q few dead bees, they cleaned them out and used the sweeper to clean up the bees. They asked if I needed any other elec. work done and made some suggestions of work they could do, changed my furnace filter and gave me price quotes on other work they could do. The only reason I gave them a C on responsiveness is they never called me to set up appt. I had to call them. Job well done.

Excellent company to work with quoted me a price on the phone and stuck to it even when the electrician spent 3-4 hours at my house performing the service. The electrician was on time and cleaned up all the waste generated during the repair. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Replacing the main water line valve is a major job involving the City water department. The entire Blind company-technicians, schedulers, phone operators-were wonderful! They were patient, pleasant, and consistently cheerful. Blind and Sons have been my furnace go-to firm for years--now they're my plumbers too!

We had a furnace cleaning contract with Blind and Sons. A technician came in the morning and performed the annual cleaning. He gave us a hard sell about buying a new furnace and indicated our carbon monoxide reading of 90ppm was high but not actionable yet. Shortly after he left the furnace began cycling on and off and would not heat the home. We called them back and they sent a different technician. The second technician indicated the furnace was flaming out and re-performed the cleaning and inspection from the morning. This second technician indicated our carbon monoxide reading was 2600 ppm and used a scope to identify several several ingot's that had fallen out of the exchanger welds. I want to stress that this was a fully functional furnace with zero issues before the service call. After the service call I had a furnace that would not run. There are two possibilities on how this could occur, and neither is good. One is incompetence and the other is foul play. 1) If the exchanger was truly damaged all along, how did the two technicians report such DRASTICALLY different numbers. One indicated it was safe carbon monoxide levels, one indicated it was dangerous levels. 2) If the exchanger was not cracked all along, what did the first technician do on his cleaning / inspection that both damaged the exchanger AND caused it to flame out?

I have used Blind and Sons in the past and they have done a good job. I decided to have them come out to repair my furnace because there was no heat. They found the inducer motor was bad. The furnace is newer so the part was under warranty. I had to pay the labor. The technician was very polite and informed me it would be $370.00 to fix the problem. Remember the part was under warranty so this price is all labor. An inducer motor literally takes maybe 20 minutes to swap out. It is 4 screws and a couple of plug in electrical connections. I told the tech I thought it was outrageous to charge 370.00 to install a 20 minute job. He informed me each job has a flat rate and it doesn't matter how long it takes. We needed heat so I reluctantly told him to go ahead and do it. He replaced the part and the furnace is up and running. I feel like Blind and Sons gouged us on the price and took advantage of a situation with a furnace being broken in February. I did call another big Heating company in the area after he was done and was quoted 210.00 to do the same job. Shame on me for not shopping around, but the house needed to have heat ASAP. I am happy with the result, but extremely disappointed in the pricing. For this reason I will never use Blind and Sons for anything in the future. Its a shame because the technicians are polite and respectful.

These folks know all about customer service excellence. I had an electrical problem with my circuit panel (one breaker would trip off immediately) late on Saturday afternoon. I called Blind and Sons and Stacy answered the phone on the second ring. She was very professional and let me know that someone would be able to come out later that day, and expect to receive a call within an hour. Well, less than ten minutes later, I got a call from Scott, the dispatcher, and he told me that Dan Cain (#779) would be coming within an hour from Massillon (30 miles away!). Dan came less than an hour later and was most courteous, friendly, and professional. It was a tough electrical issue to solve, but he was able to identify the problem in less than twenty minutes and fix it. My hat's off to Dan for coming out late on a Saturday afternoon and being so gracious about it! Great customer service all around from Blind and Sons. Keep up the good work!
Description of Work: I had a problem with a circuit breaker that kept tripping off and, of course, it was on a Saturday afternoon. Blind and Sons promptly sent someone out and the problem was found and fixed within two hours.

Sunday am at 4:45 we heard a loud noise from furnace. Blind and Son had "live" answering service who relayed call. Rep. from answering service was polite. It took a little over 1 hr for return call, and then another hr and a half repair person to arrive. Repair person quickly found issue, was knowledgeable but had issues sourcing parts (not his fault but supplier issue), eventually resolved. We of course paid a substantial "weekend emergency rate" for service, parts "acquisition" from supplier and I am certain generous mark up on part. Repair person great and thorough.
Description of Work: Replaced an inducer/ fan blower for York furnace that was 10 yrs old.

Prior to arrival the HVAC technicians called to let me know their ETA. Upon arrival the job foreman and I walked the work locations and reviewed the plans for the job and getting approval. There was a crew of 3 techs that completed the installation of the new furnace and air conditioner along with complete removal of all the old equipment. All of the techs were extremely friendly and did a great job.

I called Blind and Sons around noon and told them I had a problem with the fan blower not working. The dispatcher (Melissa) took down the information, repeated it to ensure it was correct, and then told me the technician would call shortly. Not more than twenty minutes later, Mike Dee (#745) called me and told me he had to go to another job ahead of me, but he'd call by 3 PM. Well, he called by 2 PM, and was pulling in the driveway just as I was driving up from doing some chores. He asked me a number of questions about what was wrong with the system, and within a half-hour, found out what the problem was. It turns out it was a faulty humidistat and luckily he had one on the truck. All told, he was here for less than an hour, and best of all, it was under warranty. Mike did a great job, was courteous, and very professional. Good job, Mike.

Provider was prompt and professional. Used his snake and camera to assess my issues and completed the task even though the previous owner had made access to the line going to the street difficult. I had other issues that he dealt with wonderfully (he went out of his way to be helpful), and I would highly recommend this company for anyone who has plumbing needs of any kind.

At the time they came, they told me that I had a cracked heat exchanger, which is very serious because if that is in fact true, that can allow carbon monoxide into my home. They explained that they needed to turn the furnace off and had me sign off that if i turned it on, its at my own peril/risk. They then sent out a salesman to try to sell me a new heat exchanger or a whole new system, which would be upwards of around $2,000. I was not happy with that prospect, needless to say. I was also a bit apprehensive coming into this annual tune-up because I had a situation with them before some years ago, where they offered a free estimate on a plumbing problem. I had two faucets that were needing to be replaced. With the estimate, they quoted me a price of $500 to fix those 2 faucets, which I thought was a little pricey, so I had declined the work and called my own plumber to get a second opinion. As it happened, on the day that Mike, my regular plumber came out to do those 2 faucets, my shower head broke as well, so he not only fixed the 2 faucets but also replaced the shower head for only $225, so that was the first instance that this company tried to overcharge me. Back to the service call, I already had my antennae up when they told me about the heat exchanger, so after the service call, I checked with another heating contractor that does all the heating and air conditioning work at my church. It turned out that I do not have a cracked heat exchanger at all and that Blind & Sons was being completely dishonest with me and tried to use fear of a dangerous problem as a tactic to sell me a very expensive part that I did not need. So I am not only wanting to report this to Angie's List but I also plan to advise the BBB in Akron. My furnace is old and I know that, but they have been on this for the past 4-5 years telling me that I need a new furnace. It is still working with no issues and I am very displeased with them and have cancelled all of my contact with them.

I had a lot of problems. They had 18 different people here installing the furnace. They were supposed to do it in one day and it took them almost two weeks. The air conditioner they put in didn't work. I told them I would like a new one and they did not give me a new one; they just repaired it. They were supposed to put tarps down all through the house. They dragged mud all through my brand new kitchen floor, all over my family room carpet and all over the carpeted stairs down in the basement. They hooked the duct that heats my family room to the cold air return. It just keeps going on and on. I had three managers come out here and we sat at the kitchen table. I thought they give some kind of discount or repercussion or something, you know. But, no, nothing. All they said was they would send out Stanley Steemer to clean my carpet and they would make everything else right. They said they would do this and do that. I said why am I buying a used air conditioner or one that is defective. They said it is not defective, it just needs one part. I said it was defective and they were putting in a defective unit. I got tired of these guys and called the salesman. He said they were going to put a new one unit in. The bosses came out and said they would not. That was the worst experience I have ever had with anybody.
Description of Work: I went with Blind & Sons for heating and air conditioning. I bought a whole new system from them including furnace, air conditioner and duct work.
