During the initial service call, he determined the problem and what parts to order. He also confirmed that the dishwasher was still under warranty. He said it would take 1-2 days to get the needed parts. He also quoted me a ball park price for labor (which was not covered under the warranty). After 1 week went by and I did not hear from him, I contacted him. He told me it would be just a few more days until he got the parts in and that he would be in touch. I never heard from him again. First I called a couple of times each week, then once each week, then I finally gave up. It has now been over 2 months and I just left him my final message. At this point, I am just going to buy a new dishwasher as the warranty has since expired.
Description of Work: I have a Frigidaire dishwasher that needed repair. The warranty was just about to expire and Independent Factory Service was 1 of 2 local companies authorized for warranty work. I called and the man I spoke to was responsive and came to my house in 1-2 days to look at the dishwasher and diagnose the problem.

After following Rick's advice to make sure the dishes weren't blocking the spray arms, I discovered that the dishwasher was working fine. I called to let him know and he said he would deliver the dehumidifier when he was in the area. I called in a week or so, and he called me back about a week later, saying he would drop it off within a few days. I called about two weeks later. Again he took his time returning my call, this time saying he had a job two blocks from my house the following Thursday and would leave the dehumidifier on the back porch. A few days after he was supposed to drop it off, I left another message saying I wanted him to drop off the machine or mail me a check for $20 by the end of the week or I was going to put a negative report on Angie's List. There was no response, and a week later I called to make sure I had the correct company, as the Independent Factory Service listed on Angie's List had a different contact person and a different phone number. He said the contact person listed was a fellow who used to work for him (and he answered the phone at 740-862-2712). I explained that I was getting ready to submit a report on my experience with IFS. He asked, laughing, if I still wanted my $20 back and offered to mail it the next day. This is the one time he kept his commitment, as I received a $20 bill wrapped in a sheet of paper several days later.
Description of Work: I bought a $20 dehumidifier from Rick Archer, owner of Independent Factory Service, Inc., at his daughter's garage sale. It was missing a cap on the reservoir. He didn't have one in his truck but said he had one at the shop. Our plan was that he would repair my dishwasher and deliver the dehumidifier the following week.

We called on Monday. They said they would come out to our house to take a look on Thursday. On Thursday they called to say that they were at a parts store already and ordering parts for us (which made us think, how could they know what parts to order WITHOUT coming out to take a look at what was wrong with the cooktop?). They said they would call the next day, which was Friday. Did not call. On the coming Monday, we called. The technician came out within hours, which was impressive. He said he'd have the diagnosis and the estimates for us within 1 to 2 days (which would be by Wednesday). They did not call us. We (and our home warranty company) called them instead, on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and the next Monday. We could not get hold of them. We left messages, did not hear back from them. Our home warranty company had to find us a different contractor.
Description of Work: Came out and looked at our cooktop, took it apart with the purpose of diagnosing the issues.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY SATISFACTORY. GENTLEMAN TOOK TIME TO EXPLAIN MY OPTIONS. TOOK SOME TIME TO GET MOTOR, BUT I WILL CALL THEM AGAIN IF I NEED AN APPLIANCE REPAIR.

HE CAME OUT TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM AND ORDERED THE TWO PARTS THAT WE NEEDED. HE PATCHED THE PAN TEMPORARILY WHILE WE WAITED FOR THE PART TO COME IN. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ME. I ALSO HAVE A CRACK IN MY DOOR AND HE EXPLAINED HOW TO FIX IT MYSELF. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL.
Description of Work: FIXED THE DRIP PAN AND GASKET SEAL AROUND THE DOOR ON MY FRIDGE.
