The Home Depot - Avon

Did not go well. Half an hour after they finished and left (the first time), the shelf fell off the wall. The corner seat was not installed correctly. The water was not hooked up properly. It took them an entire month to fix the problems. Started 1st week in Dec and finished mid Jan. And, the dust created was well above anything else I have ever had. This was the last project of our full house remodel.

The quality is excellent for the carpet. The men were okay except for one thing. The man that did the steps left to celebrate Ramadan and the guy scratched the steps all the way up. I did call Home Depot and they immediately sent the general manager. The reason I wouldn't let them come back is I was afraid they would get it on the carpet going up the steps. I didn't want to have them come back and tear it out and redo it. I believe they no longer sell Shaw carpeting, it's probably the best you can buy. I called them and wanted them to do another room they said they weren't in business. They are in business, they're one of the biggest in the country. The told me that probably so I would use whatever they had now. Otherwise, they did an excellent job.

The installers arrived late and appoligized stating that they were a backup crew as the scheduled crew couldn't make it. They performed the install, but didn't have the latest instructions for the stairs which were called in a week prior to the install. This caused some rework on their part which they did, but unhappily, asking each other how they were going to be paid for this. The installers seemed to be in a hurry as they mentioned they had to do another install. They were not going to install the transition strips from the carpeting to the hard floor as they said the old ones were reusable. I said I wanted the new strips installed since I paid for them. I saw some things after the install that I would have liked done better. The transaction between the new carpet and existing carpet in adjoining rooms was not done well, it was crooked and somewhat ragged in one doorway. I also saw them cutting carpet on top of the new carpet, this did not bother me at the time until a few weeks later I was vacuuming the carpet and noticed a line which appeared to be cut. It was not cut through and now much less noticeable after some wear. Lastly, the Home Depot padding I would NOT recommend, it does not appear to hold up well especially on the stairs which are used often. In a years time the stair carpeting and padding show distinct wear patterns. I had my old 'contractors' carpet, which was installed 13 years ago, show less wear on the stairs than this new top of the line carpet and Home Depot padding.

The experience was excellence. The tools were great. I would recommend them to other people. The people there knew what they were talking about.

Shop at this store quite frequently. They normally have all standard items, service is average for a "big box" store.

We went to Home Depot intending to price replacement laminate countertops for our kitchen. To our surprise, we found that for a slightly higher price we could replace the counters with granite through a service offered by Stone Masters. Color choices were very limited and only a single cut was available, but this was an excellent value for the money. The installation teams were relatively punctual and cleaned up following the work completed. The quality of the granite appears good, although not quite as refined as a custom installation.

We were a little uncertain about this store as the past 2 years no one knew what was going on when we went in there. This time the store employees were knowledgeable about the doors and sold us what we needed. The installers were excellent and were efficient. This Home Depot has turned around!

They did a great job installing and seaming the countertops. The sinks fit perfectly without any problems. They even made an extra trip to deliver a cutting board made out of the sink cut-outs. They were excellent to work with.

THEY CAME BACK OUT ON 6/24, AND ENDED UP DAMAGING MORE BOARDS. BECAUSE OF THE MULTIPLE REPAIRS, THE NEW BOARDS ARE OFF-SET AND THE SIZE HAS CHANGED. WE HAD PURCHASED WATER BARRIER TO GO UNDERNEATH, AND I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE BEEN INSTALLING IT. WE ALSO HAVE A TRANSITION THAT IS NOT PUT DOWN, YOU CAN PICK IT RIGHT UP. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE HOME DEPOT REP, SHE SAID I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE INSTALLER MYSELF. I'VE BEEN OUT TWICE TO SPEAK TO THE ASSISTANT MANAGER, WHO SAID SOMEONE WOULD COME OUT AND LOOK AT IT WITH THE INSTALLER. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME, SO I WENT BACK TO SPEAK TO ANOTHER MANAGER. HE SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK, BUT NO ONE EVER DID. I HAVE 2 CRACKED BOARDS, BOARDS THAT THE REPAIRMAN CRACKED BY DROPPING HIS TOOLS, AND THE UN-INSTALLED TRANSITION. I USED THEIR CREDIT CARD, WHICH I HAVE BEEN ACCRUING INTEREST ON SINCE MAY. ON SEPT 26, 2005 COVER-ALL FLOOR REMOVED THE 'PROBLEM-FLOOR' AND INSTALLED A COMPLETE NEW FLOOR. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE NEW FLOOR.
