From the initial call I knew I would like dealing with them. I was told to expect a call within two hours. At an hour and a half I received a call that their technician was on his way. When Paul arrived he was polite,courteous and professional. I explained the furnace symptoms and he went right to work. He had everything working in no time. He cleaned up the area he was working in. He was friendly and we felt comfortable having him in our home. Since we had a a great visit from him and knowing our current system is near the end of its service life, we discussed replacement, which will be done by Stack heating and cooling. Hopefully Paul will be able to return for that install. We highly recommend them to anyone. Also thanks to Angie's list for other great recommendations for Stack heating and cooling.

The estimator, Jeremy came out to estimate the cost of a new boiler to replace my late 50's era one. Jeremy was very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional in both appearance and demeanor. I received a quote very quickly, in fact it arrived via email the next day. I was extremely disappointed with the quote. It was for a "package" system and while it was only the second quote that I received it was 30% ($2,000.00) higher than the first quote I received which was for exactly the same setup from another highly rated company I found here on Angies. I asked Jeremy for a detailed breakdown on the individual items and was told that they could tell me the per hour labor cost but could not break down the individual item cost. There can be quite a big difference in both the quality and price of parts for a system like this and I can't imagine why any company that was using top quality components wouldn't want you to know what they were installing in advance. They may have fantastic service but I'll never know because I would never buy a "package" boiler system without knowing what each item and the labor costs. While they claim that they charge $65.00 per man hour for installs (pretty reasonable I thought) there is absolutely no way to verify this because they refuse to supply a detailed estimate. In my opinion anyone who is dealing with this company should be very careful and know exactly what they are getting into before signing a contract and forking over a 50% down payment. They received an "F" on professionalism because they refused to offer a detailed quote on their install. When receiving a quotation for any kind of job I think it is not unreasonable to have it broken down to parts and labor. But that's just me.

My furnace stopped working on a Sunday morning. I called and the tech said he could be at my house in less than an hour. After taking a look at the problem, he determined that a part was defective. My furnace is 22 years old and probably in need of replacement. After speaking with his manager, they thought they had a part at their shop. His manager went to the shop, picked up the part and brought it to my home. The parts for my furnace are no longer being made. The part that was provided did not have the correct threads to work properly. The manager managed to repair the broken part. The furnace has been working properly ever since. The manager and the technician were very professional. I was especially impressed that the manager left his home in Elyria to go to the shop in avon and then bring the part to my home in parma. WHAT GREAT SERVICE! If the part did not work, they were prepared to leave electric heaters in my home until we could replace the furnace. They really put the customer first.

I recently purchased a 1960 era home. I called Stack October 10th for a boiler inspection and was scheduled for Nov 7. This was sooner that others I had checked with. The person I spoke with was very pleasant and helpful and was able to answer a couple of questions. I was called the day before the appointment to verify I would be home at the appointed time. The day of the appointment I was called about 45 minutes before the appointment time and told Robert was leaving from an nearby suburb. Robert arrived a few minus early. It was obvious to me that Robert knew what he was doing .Since I was sitting on the floor watching, he explained each step as he did it. When he was finished he vacuumed the work area.. Robert also made sure my wife and I knew how to shut of the power, gas, and water to the boiler. He explained the function of the various valves on the boiler. I asked Robert about under the floor radiant how water heating for a couple of the rooms. He said he would have the office contact me. I was called within an hour of Roberts leaving and schedule for an appointment to give me an estimate for the addition of under the floor radiant heat. Jeremy visited with us today (11/17) and looked over the entire current heating system. He spent time in the crawl space showing me how we could add what I wanted. We also found that someone has replace a "T" with an incorrect type that affected the heat in our kitchen. That explained why the kitchen was never warm. This was a "NO pressure" visit. I was very impressed. Jeremy took the time to answer all of our questions. He also offered a few suggestions to achieve our goal of a warmer house. Things I could do with out cost. Everyone I dealt with at Stack was pleasant, personable and professional. I highly recommend Stack for boiler service. .

Jim Oswald arrived on time, as usual. Performed the work in a timely fashion, and even had time to chat with us for a few minutes. He is very honest and we enjoy his personality.

The guys from Stack were punctual and professional. They took the time to show us how to maintain our boiler and what to look for in the long winter month. They were very helpful.

They are very nice; very good. The furnace was a difficult installation because the supplier didn’t provide a furnace that was in top condition and there were timing delays on it. It was simply going on and off for a long time. After they installed the furnace, it kept coming out and in adjusting and trying to fix out what was bad, they must have been out here at least ten times over the winter time. They did stick with it and I hope finally, fixed the furnace. There was something else wrong with it, they had to take some pipes apart and work on it and at the end it did seem to function better. We don’t now have the furnace on at this point of time and we don’t really know what it is going to be like when we do turn it on. They did keep coming out until the furnace was functioning correctly from what we know so far. So that was to their plus however, the original installation should have been checking the actual manufacturer’s selection a little better but their product simply what would be called a lemon. It wasn’t an inexpensive job, $10000 is a lot of money and it was also a steam boiler for a fairly large home. We had a steam boiler that was put in and there aren’t too many people who can actually hook this in but they did. They just should have been more careful about what they brought out to the house but they did stay with it until it appears to be functioning right now. They didn’t complain every time we kept calling them when it was not working. They were very nice. We selected them because they were highly rated on Angie’s List. Secondly, our usual company for installing furnace had installed the previous boiler twenty five years ago and did a good job. We never had any trouble with our furnace. We didn’t select them this time because it appeared to us that Stack Heating & Cooling might be doing a better job, however, the actual fact is that they did not. We don’t get to see Mr. Stack very often, he has different people for different jobs and he sent out his people and they are trained by him. They are very polite, very nice and seem able. Stack does a lot to create a good image in the community.

Jim was so thorough, he cleaned and checked both systems and took the time to explain how my boiler works which meant a lot, because I have never had boiler heat.

They really do an excellent job. They show when they say they will and work quickly. I have had Stack for servicing for several years and they are excellent! If you don't have a heating/cooling service company, I would strongly recommend Stack. If you can, ask for Jim Oswald. He is very knowledgeable and does great work!
