We noticed damage to our roof following wind storms and called Great Roofing to assess. Keyonte Francis replied immediately and was attentive throughout the whole process, as our primary contact person. We did file a claim with our insurance company, and this is the specialty area of this company. Because the process with insurance is tedious and lengthy, contact with Keyonte happened often. He was extremely responsive and attentive to all questions, and would immediately work to find answers he didn't have at the ready. The installers were done in one day, which was very impressive. The team of 7 or so guys worked from morning until night and were very thorough during cleanup, as well. I would definitely recommend Great Roofing, as they have been very attentive, and truly cared to resolve our roof problem. Keyonte made this process much less exhausting than expected!

I used this company almost 4 years ago for a new roof. It was an insurance claim for water damage and they also fixed the interior drywall and plaster. Four years later same issue in the same spot as before. I called in March and spoke with a person and was told they would not be scheduling anything until 04/01. I explained to her at the time that I had damage, and she told me it was from ice build up over the winter and that my roof was not covered by a waranty any longer nor was the ice damage. I am no expert and this all could be very possible, however I was assured during the re-roofing process that ice guard would be installed and that special attention would be paid to that area. I have called 3 times and have left messages but have never received a return call. I get that the warranty has expired and not even going to question the workmanship however I would like to get this taken care of, whether it is from ice or something else and would have liked an "expert" to explain my options to fix this. I plan on making another claim with the insurance company and will explain that this was supposedly taken care of previously and I'm sure they have the information on file. I will let them deal with Great Roofing.
Description of Work: Nothing - never returned phone calls after repeated attempts.

Great Roofing and Restoration had been referred to me. They had performed work for some of my family in the past. I had a budget to work with on the replacement of a flat roof on one of my commercial buildings. Great Roofing gave me several options, together we chose the one that was right for me and the building itself. They recommended some things that would aid in the future life of the roof. I am pleased with the work that was completed on both my roof and the commercial/industrial gutters that they installed.

Great Roofing was our savior back in 2010. When they recently shared with me that the were becoming a part of Angie's List, I agreed to share my experience. Our area was hit with a damaging hail storm back in 2010. Fly by night roofers were everywhere. Being that they were local and our children attended school here in town with the owners, we chose Great Roofing. They aided us through the insurance process making sure that we were granted everything needed in getting our home back to it's original condition. They not only replaced our roof efficiently, but the also replaced our gutters and doors. At that time the process and work itself was confusing to us but they took the time to explain everything to us. In the end we were very pleased with work performed. We still use them today for maintenance issues around our home.
Description of Work: Restored the exterior of our house after being damaged by hail.

They came to my home to ask if I knew I had roof damage. He recommended I applied with my insurance company. He asked if he could be present when the insurance adjuster came. He had me sign something and said it was permission from me to say he could be there when the adjuster came. Rick Sullivan came from the liberty mutual insurance company on the 15th of May to look at the roof. Rich Hofelzer from great roofing did not go up on the roof with Rick at all to inspect it. When Rick was talking to me about the roof Rich did not seem to know what we were discussing about the vents the insurance suggested I had installed. Before Rich the roofer left he asked liberty mutual to email him the list of the project materials and cost. The insurance guy explained they do not do it that way. The roofing guy left and the insurance guy and I discussed wether I should hire this company or not. I decided to look into some other roofers and looked at this company on Angie's List. I realized this company was poorly rated and called him with a voicemail and let him know I was not going to hire him. I left more than one message explaining this. I finally got ahold of this company and he begged me to let him do the work and explained that his ratings were being corrected with Angie's List. I let him know I would rather not hire him. He called me up in June to say that he had to cancel out my order. I was confused so I had him explain, he said he would come by for us to cancel it. He never showed up. I went on vacation and came home to a bill from them saying that I owed them $270, $20 for measurement and $250 for the insurance adjustment. I just want to warn others of this situation.

My experience was horrible in so many ways....and required several return trips to complete properly. Please see above.
Description of Work: Great Roofing is anything but Great. Thier employees deliver a very nice initial sales pitch and are very convincing. Their primary focus is to get jobs that are covered by homeowner insuarance. After you accept their bid and sign for the job - they hire third party crews that do not speak English (or very little) to perform all of the work. The crew performs all of the work without being supervised by anyone from Great Roofing. Your Great Roofing sales person will arrive on the job site in the morning on the day of the job and insure the crew arrived and material was delivered, then they quickly leave until the end of the day when they return after the job is complete and they want your payment. No one inspects the job for quality, no one gets up on the roof or even checks if the gutters were cleaned. They stand in the middle of your front yard and look up at the roof and say to you "what do you think", like a homeowner knows anything about what to look for......and they quickly ask for their final payment check from you. Roofing a complete home is a very complicated process, contractors will and do take numerous shortcuts if given the opportunity......these crews have plenty of opportunity and do take all the shortcuts because no one from Great Roofing is on the site to insure a quality roof is installed. Unless you are prepared and have the skill to supervise the every minute of the installation you would do much better hiring a roofer that is personally involved with the process, is personnally on site to insure the installation is performed properly and personnally stands behind the work. Roofing is not cheap, get additional bids....you will be able to find other better companies that will meet or beat the Great Roofing price...even if your roof is an insurance job. The die issue mentioned below is true, however this was discovered by my wife after the entire roof was installed. No one from Great Roofing brought this to my attention. No one from Great Roofing inspected the installation after the job was completed, they just showed up at the end and asked for the final p[ayment. I pointed out the dye issue, they originally denied it because at that point is was dusk. Lets be very clear hear, my wife, who has no roofing experience, identified this extreme problem, not one one from Great Roofing or the the 15 or so crew members ever ID'd this problem. They wouldcertanly have taken my final payment if my wife did not notice my roof was two different colors from the die issue. And yes a complete new roof was installed at the expense of the shingle manufacturer. To this day no one from Great Roofing has completed (or offered to complete) a thorough inspection of my new roof. I received one phone call since the new roof was installed from them...and it solely for the to request that I remove this review. They never offered or asked what it will take to satisfy my experience. Their is a lot of misleading comments in their response. Everything I state is 100 percent accurate.

Response from Great Roofing & Restoration - Cleveland
(Member name removed) review has been reviewed internally at Great Roofing and we have tried to reach out to (Member name removed) on several occasions to ensure that there is nothing we can do that may help to satisfy him. He will not return our phone calls. To our knowledge, there is nothing wrong with the roof and we have done everything in our power to make right what (Member name removed) has expressed was wrong. We absolutely respect (Member name removed) opinion, however, his review is full of items that are both misleading and inaccurate in nature. We are a full service general contractor that does both insurance claim work as well as bid and repair work and it is his opinion that our "primary focus is to get jobs that are covered by homeowner insurance". We have never had a conversation about our business model nor does (Member name removed) have any insight as to how we operate and what percent of our business comes from bidding, repair, or insurance claim restoration. The second piece of misinformation is that (Member name removed) did not "accept our bid" for the job. Because this was an insurance claim, we worked on his behalf to get a full roof replacement through insurance proceeds. In exchange for this, we asked for (Member name removed) to allow us to negotiate directly with the insurance company as to scope and cost of the job and allow us to do the work. The final agreed price on this job was determined by our estimate as it was negotiated and accepted by the insurance company. The price as (Member name removed) describes in his review, is not something that he paid. The price is what we negotiated with the insurance company and the insurance company is not going to overpay and hence negotiated a fair price with us in this case. The next piece of misinformation is payment. We do not ask for any money until work is complete and there has been a final walk through. In an insurance claim job, there is a first check and a second check. The first check is to make sure you get the work done and the second check is released after the contractor submits a certificate of completion. So when (Member name removed) states "they quickly ask for their final payment check from you", this is inaccurate. The first check does not even cover our expenses so when we ask for that first check it is essentially a good faith payment on the homeowners part generally covering the material now on their home and possibly some of the labor. After which we submit a certificate of completion to the insurance company for release of the second check. If a homeowner is not happy then they have a second check to withhold if need be in order to get someone out there to do an inspection or correction of any issues. What (Member name removed) additionally fails to mention in the review is that his home was an extreme circumstance because there was a dye issue with his shingles. What this meant was not all of the shingles appeared the same shade. So we had to get with the manufacturer and have them issue all new materials for us to put a second roof on. This was not something that we could control or foresee and when the issue was discovered it was addressed with due diligence in dealing with the manufacturer and getting them to pay for all new materials. After which, Great Roofing put on a second roof for (Member name removed) at no cost to him. My opinion is that had (Member name removed) used someone that was "able to meet or beat the Great Roofing price" as he states in the review, then had this same issue occurred, he may well have been left high and dry with a multi-colored roof. We use the highest quality materials with the best warranties so our price may not always be the cheapest and the reason is so that we are protecting our home and property owners in case something occurs such as was the case in this instance. As far as the statement "after you accept their bid and sign for the job - they hire third party crews that do not speak English (or very little) to perform all of the work", this is very misleading. We do not just whip up some random crew of people who do not speak English to go roof a house. We are a GAF Master Elite Contractor. What this means is that we have to pass testing and receive certification in order to offer the best warranty in the roofing business. We cannot and would not be allowed to offer this warranty without ensuring that we are using qualified subcontractors. We pride ourselves on our Master Elite status and only bring on qualified subcontractors that can do the work to both the Manufacturers and Great Roofing's high standards. We do not hide the fact that use subcontractors and feel confident in both the ability, professionalism, and cleanliness of any crew that we use. The remainder of (Member name removed) complaints I can only say that is not how we do business and I have tried to contact (Member name removed) to offer a sincere apology. The project date in his review is actually inaccurate, the project was from 2010 and the project manager associated with this project is no longer with the company. We did not see eye to eye with this project mangers approach to managing projects so there is very well some validity to (Member name removed) complaint as to this particular individuals involvement or lack there of in terms of managing the project. After parting ways the project manager of this job decided he wanted to start his own roofing company so as to do business his way which did not and does not meet our standard of operation and for this I truly apologize. The project manager's name on this job was Aaron Kerrigan and he now owns and operates Kerrigan Roofing, so that piece of the review would now be better directed towards Aaron and his company. We at Great Roofing have done thousands of projects across the state of Ohio and feel confident that we have addressed any concerns that may have been voiced in this particular review and would be more than happy to discuss anything pertaining to the review or response with both (Member name removed) or anyone considering using Great Roofing for their project. Thank you, Josh Martin President Great Roofing and Restoration

I had hail damage to our home. The insurance company only wanted to put siding on half our house, but this company has negotiated with them and gotten enough money to put siding on the entire house, put a new screen door on the front, and half my gutters.
Description of Work: They have not done the work yet, but we have hired them.
