Jim Ross provided a detailed drawing showing he understood exactly what I wanted. I planned to put 2" foam under the concrete and that was considered for the quote; however, after I gave Jim the job I decided to add hydronic heat tubing to the floor. Jim accepted this change without add'l charge even though it meant he had to hand trowel the grooves in the floor instead of saw cut them. They laid down plywood so they could drive their delivery buggy across the foam/tube sub-base. I was a little concerned about making sure the reinforcing wire was pulled up into the concrete rather than left laying at the bottom on top of my foam insulation. I observed them raising it up as each load of concrete was dumped but I'm not sure it stayed there. I could not get them to use rebar chairs, even though I bought some myself for that purpose - I think it would've been much more labor intense and would've slowed them down considerably. Also, the footers at each door were only dug about 12 - 16" deep as opposed to the 36" proposed. I accepted this change as the digging may have disrupted my perimeter drain around the barn. I'm pleased with the result but only time will tell how well the concrete holds together.
Description of Work: Labor and material to pour 1488 sq ft of 4" slab with mesh and two 12' long - 5" wide and 36" deep trench footers at each sliding door. Trowel finish building slab, broom stoop, saw cut and seal. Fill stoop 12' x 4' x 12" deep. See drawing.
