There was a back order on the carpet we ordered and they didn’t call us to tell us. So, my wife took a day off work to be home for the installer and she didn’t have to do that. So there was a bit of an inconvenience. Price was competitive, I didn’t really shop that much.
Description of Work: We got our carpet from Home Depot and they installed it.

It was a totally unprofessional installation by the subcontractor GS Flooring, not done according to industry standards on 6/21/16. The young installers did not appear to be experienced and that worried me, but for some reason I trusted Home Depot and expected a good installation. After the job, they did not vacuum the pieces of shredded, furry carpet scraps because they said they did not have a vacuum with them because it broke. The company, GS Floor is located less than a mile up Engle Road from job. The carpet was visibly terrible to my untrained eye. It was so bad that I had to hire my own private inspector to first do a visual inspection and then give me a written report for a total of $500 paid out of my pocket. I called Home Depot right after the installers left on 6/21, after I looked at the carpet through the scraps they left behind. I wanted Home Depot to come over to see the terrible carpet job…several times since then I asked them to look at it and they never did. Someone from GS Flooring came over the next day to look at it and I knew he did not note all of the problems, he minimized the issues and told me they would come out and fix it. I knew I would be left with damaged goods if they attempted a repair. I told the Expediter at Home Depot Strongsville and I would hire my own inspector. After my inspector’s verbal report on the job, I told the Home Depot Expediter he said I needed all new carpet and pad. Home Depot's policy is to attempt a repair first, and if I am not satisfied, they will do something else. It seemed I had no other choice but to let them repair the carpet, although I knew I would it was not repairable and I would not be satisfied afterwards. After discussion about my inspector's verbal report, they said they would give me new carpet on the steps, and repair the rest. So it cost me $200 for my inspector's verbal report for Home Depot to offer that. While at the store talking to the Expediter about the verbal report, I asked if Home Depot would reimburse me for that report. She said no, they require a written report. So I had no option but to purchase a written report at $300 more. So after I told them I was paying $300 more for a written report, both GS Flooring and Home Depot called saying they were giving me all new carpet and pad, doing the whole job over. But when I asked them to reimburse the $500 I paid my inspector and some compensation for the floor the installer damaged, the Expediter told me I did not have their permission to get my own inspection. Well, she told me they required a written inspection. And why would they give me permission to get a private inspection that's going to reveal the truth about the damage? My only alternative was to accept their damaged goods if I didn't hire my own inspector. The Expediter told me their policy was to first attempt a repair, which I was prepared to do until they called with the offer to give me a whole new job. So was it my fault that they did not first attempt a repair? Following are some of the installation errors: Botched installation on steps. Did not use a stair tool and used staples where there should have been none. Carpet was stapled to the tack strip on the riser, which is the wrong way to do it (Code 11.1). The pad was cut to fit only on top of the top of the step and did not go over the edge, so that part of the step would have worn out very quickly. Carpet fit poorly over the steps because a stair tool was not used. Dimple marks in areas of the steps. The seams were lumpy between the steps and I could see some holes, and I could feel tacks in those holes. Soft bumps under carpet (bunched up padding). Carpet cut short in several areas. In master bedroom, holes in carpet, through to the pad and the finished sub-floor from the use of a tool on the end of the power stretcher which may be called a stinger. It’s against code 11.4 of carpet installation standards because it causes damage to the carpet, pad and floor that cannot be repaired. Prior to carpeting, my subfloor was in excellent condition, smooth and finished in both bedrooms and used as an uncarpeted floor. Now the master bedroom floor has a row of gouged holes from the improper use of the tool that also ruined the carpet and pad. Carpet not properly fitted in several areas where carpet had to be fitted around notches around steps, closet door tracks, cable wire. Visible lines along the width of the bathroom doorway where there are tears from aggressive use of the knee kicker tool. There were small tears in the primary backing of the carpet, so that could not have been repaired. The F rating for punctuality is for Home Depot asking me to wait and wait for some acceptable compensation. I've tried to keep communication open with them, but they are not responding. It's late and I may add photos later. Marie 216-235-9392

Of the 4-5 companies we worked with, they were the most straightforward, easy to work with company. Everyone else had too much fine print and restrictions. We replaced three widows and a french door, and they did a quality job in less than a day. We would definitely use them again and recommend them. They actually came out immediately to touch up the way the door was set, and I was overall impressed. .
Description of Work: We had them install new windows.

They had great service. You can keep the dumpster for longer then a month.
Description of Work: I bought a portable dumpster from them that I filled up. About six moths later when I was ready to get rid of it I had to pay another service to come pick it up to haul it off.

I am unhappy with their customer service. I took a morning off of work so I could be home for their installation experts, who were supposed to arrive between 10-12. At 12:25, the installation person called to say he was running late, and would be arriving in about a half hour. I had to go to work and could not wait. Despite their mistake, they were completely unwilling to accommodate my schedule for re-scheduling the installation. They would not come in the late afternoon. They would not come on the weekend. Their next available installation was over a week away, and I would have to take another half-day off of work. I'm not sure if the problem was with Home Depot, or their subcontractor, but it was an awful experience.
