+ -1 moreI have an estimate from another company which I also got off of Angie's List. I am looking for one more before I decide who is going to do the job. The quote was $1600. It was cement work; I have no idea if that was a good quote or a bad quote. He explained it all to me. But I did email him back and ask him for another quote, because when the other company came out, they were going to tear down the whole cement thing instead of what JL Excavation was going to do. I e-mailed them back and asked them what the quote would be if they tore it all down instead of trying to fix it. So I don’t know really, because I can't compare it to the other one I got, because that guy was proposing a whole different fix for the problem. I didn’t have any problems with the quote from JL Excavation. He came out pretty quickly. He hasn’t answered my email since then though. He sent me the first estimate rather quickly. I am asking him for another estimate to tear the whole thing down instead of trying to repair it. In fact, I called him before I ever joined Angie's List. He was at my house before for an estimate. I would use him again.

+ -1 moreNever heard back from this company. Found and chose them from Angie's List. They showed up for the appointment on time. We needed to have a retention wall built. We were told that they would email the estimate to us - we never received anything. We called and left a message in hopes that maybe they sent the estimate to an incorrect email address and received no phone call back. I would not refer this company - very disappointed.

+ 0 moreJim and his crew did an excellent job on our retaining wall. As a serviceman he is very friendly and professional. His price for the work was also better than any of the "pure landscaping" firms. They took great care not to do any damage to our yard while bringing the materials in and even threw some grass seed down near the wall where some bare spots got worn in during the work. I will definitely call him first when I need future work done. He also now accepts payment via PayPal which was convenient for me.
Description of Work: When we built our house in 2006 that side had a slope on it and my wife was using the first 8' or so as a garden area, but the erosion etc was a problem so the purpose was to wall it in and then dump some good topsoil in there for future gardening needs. We contracted with Jim to install a retaining wall around southern edge of house and run drain pipe from downspouts to outside of wall. Approximately 75' of retaining wall 2-3 blocks high with caps. He also brought in topsoil to fill up garden area.
