The crew arrived on time. They were running a half day behind but did call and notify us of this change in time. They started Monday, July 20th and finished July 23, 2015. The steps to the side door were removed for excavation by the work crew. On July 23, 2015 the steps were left in the middle of the driveway with promise to return to replace steps after the concrete dries. Our basement was a disaster when they left. Clean up should have been part of the job. Dust would be understandable but there were so many concrete chunks that we had to sweep them up before we could vacuum the floor. Dust covered everything including the TV and furniture. The basement bathroom was a MESS! They never asked if it could be used but we assumed they would be using it. This isn't a bathroom commonly used by us. The toilet was left filled and clogged with poop!! Yet when we asked the crew if they clogged the toilet with BM they denied understanding of the word BM. The biggest problem was the new concrete on the driveway. It was blended poorly and lacked room for expansion in the cement. This cement cracked within the week. The company told us this was due to excessive temperatures. Winter is coming with even more excessive temperatures. Another issue was that their work trucks gouged and scraped our driveway which they said they would power wash. They said they power washed twice when they were done but their wasn't any difference in the driveway. By July 27th the company hadn't returned to replace the steps. They are too heavy for us to move. I called the company and was told that this is the first notification they had that the steps were in the middle of the driveway. You really shouldn't have to tell a company that moved your steps in the first place to come back and replace them. Unfortunately they couldn't return to our house till August 3, 2015 to replace the steps and the other issues. Marvin and crew returned on August 3, 2015. My mother started to give him the list of things we were concerned about. Marvin stated he was only here to replace steps. He pushed the steps almost back to the house but there is still enough of a gap that water could enter. The steps need to be pushed closer to the house. Marvin did do some clean up in the basement and removed a large board they left on the back of our house. Then Marvin became insolent with my 84 year old mother and ran to their trucks and left. I looked out the window and my 84 year old mother is running down the driveway into the street to stop them. She caught them because they had to turn around in a cul-de-sac to leave our neighborhood. Marvin and his crew returned to our house once again only to run away again when they heard me on the phone with their company. Very unprofessional!! The company owner has refused to meet with us either in person or by phone. We offered to drive to his office but they keep telling us he's out of the office. The owner is quick on collecting the check but not in returning for follow-up. We had a phone conversation with Sarah at their company today. We are told they won't be able to return till September to address these problems. They are busy. The other frustrating thing they told us today was that the first notification they had of the steps being in the middle of the driveway was on July 27th and they returned to replace the steps on August 3rd. She said that was just a week later. I don't think a customer needs to notify the company of the steps being in the middle of the driveway when they are the ones that moved the steps. That's like a surgeon telling a patient that you need to notify them about taking out your stitches. The bottom line is that the owner has refused to meet or talk with us. He only talks to us through his employees. We feel for $4800 we should be able to talk with him directly. I see where he has used the line "You can't please everyone" in his response to a negative review but he isn't even trying in this case. They have only returned once since the job was done and the crew was insolent with my mother.

My work was started on time and went exactly as stated on their website. It was to be a 4 or 5 day job and with no rain they finished in 4 days. The guys they sent did a great job.Very hard working and knowledgeable.I would use them again without any hesitation.I am satisfied with their work. The lifetime transferrable warranty is also a plus. They do have a senior discount if you qualify.

I certainly would never recommend them to anyone. I still had water after the basement waterproofing. I continually called them and they kept saying it was not their fault. They broke my lamp and they were supposed to repair that but they did not. They are very poor to do business with and they just would not do anything about it. I used another company and so far I have not had any water. I think that they cheated me. They said they would replace my lamp and I called them twice but they just ignored me. I will never deal with them again.

Response from Basement De-Watering Systems of Ohio
We did TWO jobs for customer 8 years apart. Was very satisfied in between those 8 years. Not sure what happened. Whenever there was a issue we were there within a week to fix. Customer requested us to NOT come and service the system in 2008. There was a rotted lamp post that one worker bumped into and fell. Customer told us " NO WORRIES it was old". Unfortunately you cannot please everyone however we went above and beyond to try to make everything right, but customer is still not happy and refuses to let us do anything more.

The gentleman that showed up to do the estimate, Mike, was very confident in the company's ability to solve the issues at hand. We have a high ground water table in our area and the water was coming from the floor up (mostly). I had a picture of the last time the basement had water streaming across it. He told me they do at least 300 basements a year and also provided references from around my area of people to call. He wrote up the estimate and it was below any of the other estimates I had received from Klein, B-Dry and America's Basement Contractors. I called a person on the list whose name I recognized a couple days later and he was very happy with the work that had been performed. I decided to call them and schedule the work. The crew showed up promptly on January 2nd, when the work was scheduled to begin. The workers were very courteous and polite. They even took some of the concrete they busted out of the basement and filled an old shallow well we had in the front yard for us, which was no easy job hauling chunks of concrete over to the well. They put tarps down in the living room to keep dirt and dust to a minimum. They answered any questions I had during the process. They finished the work the following Monday. The Zoeller pump they put in is very quiet and you can barely hear it running, which is a plus. We did get a little water coming up through the seams where the new concrete was poured a couple months ago when we had a heavy thaw. I believe it was due to the pump not being able to handle the sheer load of water gushing in. Mike came out and looked at it and said to keep an eye on it and call him if it happens again. I'm thinking we may need another sump to handle the extra volume in these situations. I do not think it is because the system was not installed properly. Overall, very pleased with the work they did and would definitely recommend them to others.

I received an estimate for repairing and drying up my basement. I did not choose this company for this job, but went with a lower quote from another company. I hope I don't regret this later. I was comfortable while receiving the estimate, which took about an hour from start to finish. He inspected the basement inside and outside gave their recommendations and a price. We also discussed other items that needed repairing in the house (not part of the basement quote). Though I did not receive quotes on those items. It was helpful information.
Description of Work: The company sent out a contractor, not a salesman. I was impressed by this. I was given an estimate for the work needing to be done & explained well. There was no high pressure. I was very comfortable with the gentalman. I did get several other estimates & chose another company. I hope the one I chose meets my expectations. Quality Builders, provides the services for Basement De-Watering systems. I received a follow up call which was pleasant as well. They perform other building & repair needs as well. I do plan on contacting this company for additional building & repair needs in the future. Though, I did not have any repair work done by this company yet, they inpressed me well enough to check out their other services. You will not be sorry if you contact this company. All persons were friendly & courtious.

Incredible! On time! It was not dirty - the job was done neatly, well, and effective, and much less expensive than other companies on the list. It made much more sense - less tear up, less stress, and cost less money - and it worked!
Description of Work: They drill weep holes in the wall all the way through so that water will come in, and build a trough similar to a base molding all the way around that funnels the water to an existing drain or sump pump - It was dust free!
