Lodder Landscaping

John Lodder came two different days. The mulching was extensive, probably 10 cubic yards. He completed everything satisfactorily and timely.

We have used them multiple times whenever we need landscaping needs. John, always does the work himself and you know that the work is getting done right.

Estimate meeting only. Went well, on time, explained design. A little higher price than our budget.

They were excellent and good. We were very pleased with them. We would use their services in the future too.

They were very nice. You were use their service in the future, however I found someone with a lower estimate and that rated a super service provider. Estimate given approximately $600.

He did a really good job and he had nice suggestions for what to do. We had a problem spot and he had a really good suggestion for what to do with that.

He is a very personable and honest person, and is anxious to please. He works like a beaver and does a good job. He is probably rated on top on Angie?s List for landscaping work. I would rate him highly and would use him in the future.

We just bought a hot tub and were going to install it on a paver patio already put in by John Lodder in 2001. We asked John to come out and advise us about leveling the patio and adding an addition. As usual, the solution he gave us (pour a concrete pad, relevel the patio next to the pad, use removed pavers from pad to make the addition) was a FAR better idea than what we had dreamed up. Within 3 days, John had the pavers removed, a 10' x 10' area leveled to the concrete pad with pavers re-installed, 3 Rose of Sharon bushes removed, and the new 40 sq ft area completed. He moved the dirt from our previous flowerbed just next to the newly installed area, which made re-forming the beds very easy. This patio now looks perfect, and because he re-used our 2001 pavers, the colors all match. You would never know he just laid the new section. We have a little piece of paradise in our back yard, thanks to John Lodder. We will NEVER use anyone else! John isn't just a landscape designer, he's an artist.

John listened carefully to our concerns and needs, and then offered several different options for us to consider, both for the lawn and the landscaping. His estimate was about in the middle, or slightly lower than many we received. He was available to discuss the options as we considered them, and provided clear advice regarding both. He began the work when he said he would, and as he proceeded with the lawn, on his own initiative, and without additional cost, made an incremental change that greatly improved the front sidewalk lawn. We had some ideas about shrubs for the backyard, which he and we discussed. When he discovered that one of our choices was doing poorly at the local nurseries, he made different recommendations, which we appreciated. He is easy to work with; takes pride in his work; and gave us good advice regarding both the lawn and all the plantings. We are delighted to be working with him and recommend him without reservation.

The work went extremely well as always. I have been using Lodder Landscaping since John did some landscaping for me back in 2003. He has done this spring cleanup since 2004 and always does an excellent job. He comes when he says he will come, leaves everything tidy, and is willing to answer questions either directly or by way of messages.

We keep adding flower beds and they take more and more time each year to clean up, edge, and mulch. We decided to seek professional help this time. John stopped by immediately to look at our flower beds and to give us a quote. When the ground was dry enough, he returned to clean up our beds and edge them. He did a much better job of edging than we have ever done, everything nice and sharply defined. When the weather warmed up, he returned to mulch, again doing a very nice, neat job. We expected only an adequate job, so we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent job John did. This included both the job done and the high quality mulch used. Next year, we will be giving John a call again. With what John charged for the area that we needed to have taken care of, plus the excellent job he did, it is not worth it for us to do it ourselves.

This year John met with us and did an annual walk through working from our 2009 budget for additions/upkeep to his multi-year design which this year included removal of bushes, replanting, edging, relocation of one tree, and purchase and installation of new plantings, shrubbery, and large rocks. During the walk through we discussed specifically which areas we wanted to change/maintain. John & Anne provided a written detailed estimate by fax within a day, and the project was completed, on budget, within days thereafter. Once again, we are delighted with the results. We are always amazed with how great the results are on a limited budget. John has an ebullient outlook with which he interprets for the homeowner, a truly artistic vision, and posses both the knowledge and the skill to implement it. He is always careful to provide alternatives within your budget guidance, and during all the years we have worked with him, he has never exceeded his detailed estimate. We're already looking forward to next year's project with him!

John has been doing the maintenance on my landscaping for over ten years. He hasn't raised his price once. There is a reason he has been at the top of Angies list for ten years. He is the best.

I am very happy with the service and will continue to use them in the future.

We had previously had John replace and expand a patio in our backyard and we were very pleased. When we discussed the landscaping we had talked and agreed that he could remove our existing landscaping at any time but since it was the heat of the summer (July/August), we didn't want to plant any of the new landscape until the end of September to avoid stressing the new plants. However, in early August John arrived and planted the new landscape -when we questioned him on this he said that he found some nice plants that might not be available by the end of September. We had to put a lot of time and effort into trying to keep the new plantings watered and even with that many looked stressed by the end of August. John also edged and mulched the planting beds but put the mulch right over existing weeds that quickly grew through the mulch - since we had completely cleared most of these planting beds for the new plantings, we would have expected the weeds to be cleared before planting & mulching. We wrote him a letter and talked to him about the issues we were unhappy about and he came out the next day. He said that we had a year guarantee on the plants so if they didn't make it they'd be replaced. He started to remove some of the weeds under the mulch but it started to rain and he left and hasn't been back or called. We were a bit disappointed on this project.

John was very prompt and worked hard to get the job done. It was amazing the amount of work that he was able to complete in a short period of time. He had the old patio torn out and the new expanded patio complete in just a fews days working by himself.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT. I have used Lodder Landscaping since Spring 2003. They have been wonderful and I would recommend John's work to anyone. Both John and Anne return phone calls, answer questions and do what they say when they say. In addition, John's work is excellent. I found Lodder's through Angie's List when another landscaper stood me up. John did some landscaping for me in Spring 2003 and then cleanup every spring. This spring I had him replace the magnolia and arborvitae with the items described above. Again, I could not be more pleased.

He is very professional, helpful, and reasonable. He is also very patient.

I am extremely impressed with both John Lodder and his wife Ann. John came out and talked to both my husband and I extensively about what we wanted done. He provided us with one of the most thorough and detailed estimates any contractor has ever provided us with. We had very rocky and weedy soil surrounding our house because we've had to replace drains and remove tree stumps in the past. John brought in loads of new soil, fresh mulch, and beautiful plants and made our property look picture perfect. John is extremely professional. He answers questions, deals with concerns, and treats customers with respect. The best part of working with John is all the compliments I keep getting!

Lodder Landscaping is awesome! Besides using them every year for my mulch beds and edging this is the 3rd time I have used them for landscaping. Many years ago I had John Lodder re-do the landscaping on one side of the front of our house and absolutely loved it! The other side of the front of the house had a concrete patio and shrubs I had planted. Over the years the concrete has cracked and peeled. I have tried to have professionals repair it but it never looked good. So I looked at alternatives. Nature Stone does peel and deteriorate over time (it is a covering over concrete). We love our paving brick driveway we had done many years replacing awful blacktop. (With paving bricks you just repair/replace one brick when there is a problem versus having concrete which is hard to repair.) John Lodder has done probably millions of paving bricks (small jobs no driveways) and is an expert at it. I showed the patio to John and John had an idea. John is amazing he has a vision with every landscape job he does. You don t need a fancy landscape plan (but he can do one if you really, really want one). Trust John he knows landscaping! I trusted John and I got an awesome job as you can see from the pictures attached. I especially love the walkway off the sidewalk.

They showed up on time. We discussed different options. He talked about what plants he could plant in the garden bed. In the written estimate he gave more details on what flowers would be used in the garden bed.

Always looks spectacular when John is done! I will be moving soon, and will probably call him to work on my new yard.
