 + 1 moreJohn and his wife Anne were great to work with. John has tons of knowledge and shared it with us. He advised us on how we could make the most of the money we had to spend. He worked quickly and consistently and had the job done before we thought it was possible. We used most of his suggestions, even on the plants that we put in ourselves, and we have received lots of compliments, especially from those who saw it before and after. What a big difference it has made! I would recommend Lodder Landscaping without hesitation.
Description of Work: John Lodder came to our house and walked around our yard with us to get an idea of what he could do with it. After that he sent us an estimate detailing what recommendations he had and what would be the specific charges. We then met and went over the list, selecting those items he would do. He helped us decide what items we could do ourselves in order to save some of the cost. He was back the following week to complete the work, which he did in about three days. He removed our existing concrete walk and step to he house and put in a curving paver walk with two slab steps. He extended the landscape beds in the front of our house and created beds along both sides of the house. He removed a Crabapple tree and a Forsythia bush and transplanted eight other bushes to the side of the house. He planted three trees of 6, 7, and 8 feet in key locations within the beds. Once we did other small plantings, he returned to reseed a small part of the yard and mulch all the beds.

As always, John and Anne are very professional, yet very personable. John's suggestions for plants/trees are excellent. There isn't anything we have planted that I don't love. Each project has been done in a timely manner and exactly as quoted. We will definitely continue calling on Lodder Landscaping in the future.
Description of Work: Lodder Landscaping performed several landscaping tasks for us this year. They removed an old tree and replaced it with a new one, edged and mulched numerous flower beds, created a new flower bed area and planted over 45 various perennials and shrubs.

 + -1 moreJohn Lodder came out to our home and was very nice, but I didn't feel he listened to what I was saying. He seemed to have in his mind what we should do rather than working with me to bring the ideas together. Additionally, he doesn't do steps and said we would have to coordinate that through someone else for wood steps, which we weren't interested in doing. His price for the patio alone was higher than the price for the patio and steps with the company we ended up contracting for the job. His quote was brief, without a lot of detail itemized, but better than some we saw.
Description of Work: Requested quote for paver patio; approximately 280 square feet.

 + -1 moreThese folks are fantastic!!! Mr. Lodder does the design and plants/does all the landscaping. He is always, literally, engaged in the job; so there is no question that you are dealing with the head man. He is not afraid to offer a suggestion and normally has a ''better idea''. His creativity is second to none; as is his work ethic! His wife handles the myriad of administrative details. Obviously communication is good because there is never, even the most minor misinterpretation of your desires. It is impossible to envision a more pleasurable experience. I'll be back next spring!
Description of Work: Mr. Lodder removed numerous dead and dying plants, planted 41 shrubs and perennials, and erected a low, 35', stone wall around another bed.

 + -1 moreJohn added paving bricks to an existing paving brick driveway that was about 7 years old. He used some bricks we had left from the original job and purchased more bricks. John suggested that we use some bricks that had a more 'aged' appearance to blend with my 7-year-old bricks. The bricks blended much better than I ever expected! I didn't expect that John would be able to do the project until Spring, 2006. However, with the warm weather we had, he was able to complete the job this week in only a day! John loves what he does and it shows! This is the second time we have used Lodder Landscaping and we'll definitely use them again and again!
