I used them before. They are very professional. They cleaned and inspected the firebox, ash container, damper, smoke chamber, brickwork, mortar, flashing, crown, etc. They caulked wherever necessary and put tarp down to prevent soot from getting on the carpet. I would recommend them to anyone needing their services..

He did a really good job. Has here on time and inspected the chimney and then cleaned it. We were really happy with him. I've recommended them to friends already.

Great experience! The workers were friendly, helpful, neat, and efficient. This is our first home with a fireplace and they were kind enough to explain everything that they were doing. They even took the time to show me how my fireplace works and made sure that I understood what to do and what not to do when using it. They also gave me some maintenance suggestions for Spring. They cleaned up thoroughly and you'd never know that they were here!

Excellent - Bill and his wife Lisa are both very responsive, honest and thorough. They assured us that if the chimney did not need cleaning, they would only charge the inspection rate. Bill also provided excellent information regarding the recommended cleaning cycle (per # fires, etc.). We will definitely have Top Hat continue our regular chimney maintenance for years to come.

He came out in 3 days. He got on top of the house and put on 3 new bonnets to keep the squirrels out. He also rearranged the gas logs so they would burn nicer. He is excellent at what he does. I will give a B for punctuality because he said that he would arrive between 4 and 4:30 but, he arrived at 5:30.

They were very neat in their work, and left not a speck of dust nor ash. William seems quite familiar with fireplaces, wood stoves, and chimney construction. I plan to have them back to install a fireplace insert and flue liner.

I bought a house last year and was concerned about using the fireplace without having someone inspect it first. William came out and cleaned the chimney, let me know that it was safe to use, and gave me a lot of advice about how to keep from having a chimney fire. He was very friendly and also conscientious about keeping any dirt off my carpet (even though it is in dire need of replacement). Great experience! I will definitely deal with this company again.

My chimney is spotless and he said not to worry about how many fires I lit this coming winter, it would hold up, creosotel free. Oh. and no critters in there either! ALSO I wanted my ducts cleaned. She stated that they only have one brush and it is full of creosol and that they don't do duct work because their brush would fill your ducts with the creosote which could cause a fire hazard. Make sure you ask a company that does chimneys and ducts if they use two different brushes.

I moved into this home and wanted to have the fireplace inspected before I used it. Bill the owner came out the very next day. He said that my fireplace didn't need cleaned this time but gave me very good advice on what I might want to do to get the most from my fireplace. He inspected the chimney cap and said it had a small hole and the flashing needed to be updated. I will certainly be calling him in the spring when the weather is a little nicer. Bill is very friendly, fun to talk with and seems to be very honest. I will be recommending his services to my friends. He was also very reasonable!

The guy who cleaned my chimney did a pretty good job. I scheduled them for Friday to do the cleaning. However, they supposedly called and said they would come on Thursday but I never received this call. I work on Thursdays and would have never made this appointment. They wanted to charge me a $25.00 no show charge fee. They eventually reduced this to $10.00. They only wanted cash, no credit.

My chimney cap blew off in high winds. I knew it was older and loose, because it had been askew in the summer and a squirrel had gotten in; in the fall, I'd had a handyman go up and bend the tines to straighten it out. But this time it landed in the back yard with a thump. I could see it was reeeeealy rusty, and was designed to rely heavily on gravity for staying up there. I had used Top Hat before to inspect the chimney, and so called. I got an appointment w/i a week (fine, no big rush.) The person who took the call said Top Hat would come out and try to see if it just needed to be reattached (hopefully), or if it needed to be replaced. If replaced, she guessed it would be about $95. She gave lots of detail of what to expect from him, and assured me he'd try to do the least expensive option that was still safe and worth the money. On that Friday, the two men who came out were about 30 minutes late (the only ding in their performance - but since it only took about 25 minutes, and I'd alloted an hour to be able to get to work on time, it was fine with me.) They introduced themselves and were friendly but got right to work. After evaluating the old chimney cap as lower quality (DIY, probably) and really rusty and staring to streak the chimney, he recommended a new stainless steel chimney cap. He showed me how it was of better quality, told me it has a lifetime guarantee, and shared stories of the only one or two that he had had to replace. The assistant scrambled up on the second-story roof and attached it quickly, they cleaned up and I paid with a check, and it was all taken care of in about 25 minutes. He also asked about whether I needed the chimney swept, but since I burn rarely thought it didn't need to be done yet. It's still up there so far - pretty happy!

Great. The owner is fantastic. Very nice. Asked him to come clean chimney, but he told us it didn't need it and instead he just did a quick inspection and gave us some great advice. Once it warms up, we're going to have him come back for some minor safety repairs.

Very accommodating on scheduling. We had to reschedule several times for various reasons. Lisa actually moved another appointment to get me in. They placed drop clothes on carpet, and when they were done and gone you didn't even know they were here. Chimney looks great!

Great experience. Came within a day of my initial phone call, showed up on time, worked efficiently and did a really thorough job; provided an explanation of options for repairs to the chimney and provided an estimate for repairs he could do himself as well as names of companies to call for other repair options. Explained other maintenance that might be needed down the road and timeframes for when they might be needed. Was personable and professional. Also compared with one past chimney sweeping with a different company, I thought the price for this job was much better value. I highly recommend this company and will use them again myself.
