+ -1 moreI called Mr. Selby on a Friday morning and left a message. He returned my call within the hour but indicated that he was pretty busy but MIGHT be able to come late in the afternoon, but more likely it would be Saturday. He called Friday afternoon and said his schedule was cleared up and he could come over. He arrived promptly within the hour. Inspected and tested the refrigerator to determine the probable cause of the overheating. Determined the problem to be a small cooling blower motor. However, it was a type that he did not carry in the truck and would have to order it. He called the shop and requested one and we scheduled an appointment time for Monday to replace it. He arrived on Monday afternoon, replaced the unit, He explained what he was doing throughout the process, which I found interesting. He cleaned up the area and departed. Good work. Very courteous and conscientious.
Description of Work: Mr. Selby inspected and tested our refrigerator for overheating and determined that a small blower fan was not operating. He replaced it.

+ -1 moreWhen we returned from a trip to find the refrigerator warm and water leaking onto the floor we thought the worst and worried that we would have to by a new one. We found Selby Appliance on Angie's List, called them and set up the appointment for two days later. They wanted to come sooner but we weren't available. They showed up on time and did the repair and were done in less than an hour!
Description of Work: Selby was available exactly when we needed them and showed up on time. They knew exactly what the problem with the refigerator was and fixed it quickly and for a great price. This saved us what could have been quite a major expense of we had to replace it.

+ -1 moreI've had Selby out a couple times to fix appliances in my house. He has fixed my dryer, which turned out to be badly clogged. He has fixed my stove, which needed a new computer panel. He has fixed my freezer, which was filling up with frost and had a drawer thing off its track. And he has fixed my dishwasher now twice, both times it was clogged with lovely non-food items like skewers and olive pits. He and his asst are always wonderful. they work quickly and if they don't need parts will just charge a reasonable price for the service call. If anything else breaks around here (and it will!) I will call them again.

+ -1 moreThe service called, made an appointment and were prompt and polite. They examined my dryer thoroughly taking off the font pand turning it on its front. It became apparent, even to me, that the heating device had worn out and I was advised that it probably was best to get a new dryer since this one was 30 years old and had done its job. Selby offered, if I wished to repair it that they could order a new part and install it but they advised against it. I most certainly would use their service again.

+ -1 moreEverything went smooth. Our dishwasher was leaking so I used Angie's list to find who was nearby and had good reviews. Selby was out the next day to evaluate. He ordered the part while he was here and was back in 2 days to replace the door gasket. My dishwasher has not leaked since.

+ -1 moreMy clothes dryer stopped working mid-cycle. I called Selby on 11/26/12 to schedule an appointment to have my dryer fixed. Selby was able to come to my home the next day and arrived at the exact time he stated he would be at my house. Selby and his associate were both very pleasant and courteous. Selby was able to diagnosis the problem in a matter of minutes and, fortunately, had the replacement part for my dryer in his truck. He made sure everything was functioning properly and explained the problem to me before leaving my home. I would definitely use the services of this company again.
Description of Work: Selby Appliance Repair replaced a thermo fuse on my electric Whirlpool clothes dryer.

+ -1 moreI called Selbys Appliance to schedule repair for my 5 yr old GE dryer based on reviews from Angies list. My husband was home at the time the repair work was done. He was very pleased with the job that was done, said Mr Selby was very knowledgeable about the appliances we have. We also had a scheduled appointment with another repair company on the same day but for an earlier time on our washer. We received a call from that company while Mr Selby was here telling us they couldn't make it, they were already extremely late. Selbys was kind enough to look at our washer and tell what was wrong with it. Unfortunately we couldn't have Selbys do the repair on our washer because it was under warranty and that repair will be very expensive. Selbys was leaving as I came home from work and he took the time to tell me what was going on with our appliances also. When the warranty runs out on our washer we will call Selbys for any repairs on both appliances from now on..Thank You Selbys

Description of Work: Called this company to come look at my washer and dryer based upon the reviews on Angie's List. I called the friday before Labor Day. He said he may be able to try to fit my in tomorrow (saturday) afternoon or on Tuesday. I waited on Saturday until 4pm and when no one showed or called, I figured they were unable to fit me in. Then on Monday, I noticed he left his business card in my door (not my primary entry way so I didn't see it sooner). I called Tuesday morning and he said he would be out between 12-1pm today. I waited...and waited until 4 pm when I called him. He was downright rude. He stated he called me on Saturday but I have NO voicemail or missed call. When I asked why he didn't show up today, he said he got me confused with someone else even though I told him who I was. Perhaps, he got my phone number confused with another person too. He didn't look at his planner when I called and automatically thought I was someone else. When he said he could try to come tomorrow, I indicated I needed a committment and he needed to come before I had to leave at 2:30 tomorrow as I can't continue to wait around for a no show. He told me there was no way for him to know how long he would be on jobs, which I understand. Then he aggressively asked me why I waited for 3 hours before I called to see where he was! It was because I figured he got behind on a job and wanted to give him time- that's what I get for being a nice person. I didn't think that it was because he didn't put me in his planner since I called in the morning and he gave me a time to be out. I'm very frustrated because if I need a new appliances, I wanted to take advantage of Labor Day sales.

+ -1 moreSelby promptly returned all my calls. He gathered the information on the model and serial number and diagnosed the problem over the phone and gave me a quote. He ordered the part and called me as soon as it arrived and was able to come out the same day. He and a helper moved the washer and replaced the part. He was knowledgeable, courteous, professional and very reasonably price. I would definitely recommend Selby for major appliance repairs.
Description of Work: Called Selby Appliance Repair and left a message when my 6 year old Maytag front loader washing machine was leaking water into the drum when the washer was not running. Selby returned all my calls in a timely manner. He promptly diagnosed the problem over the phone as the water inlet valve and he ordered the part. He called when the part arrived, about 5 days later, and came out the same day with a helper. He replaced the valve and every thing is working good as new.

+ -1 more2 days before Christmas, the ignitor in our oven broke - it would not heat up. We were hosting our first Christmas for both sides of our family, and Selby was able to come out the same day - 2 days before Christmas none-the-less. He not only knew what the problem was before he showed up, but had the parts available when he arrived. He was at our house for less than 1 hour to replace the ignitor, and effectively saved our Christmas dinner! This was the 2nd time I have used Selby's appliance repair, and he once again did not disappoint. Very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend.

This ended our relationship with Best Buy - wonder they are closing stores. I looked on Angies List for sppliance repair and found Selby. He was simply awesome. I will call him for all future repairs. He was prompt, professional, polite, knowledgeable, and fair with his cost.

He then spent another 20 minutes properly placing my dryer and making sure the vent to the outside was properly secured. This is always a tight squeeze since my washer and dryer are in a closet. I really appreciate the manner in which they conducted themselves and the extra effort they put out. Thank you!!!!

+ -1 moreTHESE GUYS ARE GREAT! They are welcome at my house ANY TIME, which is good because they've been here several times. I have two ovens. About a year ago, the ignitor in the larger oven stopped working, so I called them. They came on time, diagnosed the problem, replaced the worn out part, explained to me what had happened and predicted that the ignition in the other oven was also going to need to be replaced, but that it still had probably a year or so of service let in it. BOY WERE THEY RIGHT! About a year later (almost to the day!), it quit working. So I called Selbys, and they came out that same afternoon. While they were here, I asked if they could look at the ice dispenser on the refrigerator. When Mr Selby called his parts supplier, who suggested replacing the whole freezer door. Mr Selby suggested they try instead to get a replacement module for the door,and the parts guy finally agreed. So they'll be back out here again this week. These guys are great -- they're polite, pleasant and professional, and they really know what they're doing.

+ -1 moreWashing machine at rental property filled with water, then wouldn't spin/agitate. Spoke with Selby on Thursday, he came out to property on Saturday. He was able to get the water drained from the machine, but then confirmed machine had a busted transmission. Informed me it would be close to $400 to fix, and at that price suggested I just look into purchasing a new one. Seemed very knowledgeable about the washing machine, and I certainly appreciate the honesty from a repair standpoint. Very fair cost for service call. I would highly recommend, and Selby will no doubt be my first call for any future appliance repair needs.
