Description of Work: A true professional: Selby came to fix our dishwasher, which was 10 years old. As it turned out, although he could fix it, and was willing to do so, when we balanced the cost of repair against the cost of a new unit, it was clear buying new was the right choice. FYI-I'm an architect and can tell you that his diagnosis of the old DW was on the mark, and his costs for replacement parts and labor was very fair. Selby patiently helped us look for a new DW on the web and I bought one on the spot while standing in the kitchen. I note here that Selby made no mark up on the purchase and was totally objective. He then picked up the new unit at Lowe's, and installed it in a very professional manner with no wasted time or effort. In addition he also disposed of the old unit and came back later to fix the clothes dryer !

It turns out that when I had installed a new disposal a week earlier, I had missed the step to punch out the plug for the dishwasher connection. Very helpful on the phone and very friendly!

+ -1 moreGood. He showed up with a helper...Selby was clean and neat; he did the work, gave me advice to make my stove burner ignite as it should, and didn't leave my kitchen a mess...I would use them again - I've been lucky to not have any appliance problems...this was the first.
Description of Work: Selby checked to see why my refridgerator was cooling then warming...he found that I hadn't maintained vacuuming my compressor yearly as I should have. He vacuumed it, measured the temp. of my fridge/freezer and told me to check back if I had any problems.

+ -1 moreNice guy, came and looked at the washer, he kind of assumed wife did not understand how to use it, which is not the case. He tested a bunch with no clothes in the washer and everything worked perfect so I had to agree it was not failing in that situation. But today, one day later the washer is sitting with one set of sheets and two pillow case, drained the water, spin light still on, door unlocked and dead! Guess I'll call the Maytag guy.

He even took the time to show me the components and explain my options in a clear informative manner. The whole experience took very little time. He would be my first choice for any future appliance repairs.
Description of Work: I had an older model refrigerator in which the compressor was no longer working. It had a small burned out electrical component which was one part of a three part system. He was able to quickly replace it with a 3 in 1 start.

+ -1 moreMy mom has a 15 year old GE dryer that would not get hot enough to dry the clothes. I called yesterday on her behalf and explained the situation to Selby. I also told him that she is a senior citizen and is on a fixed income and asked if it would be worth having him come out or should we just purchase a new dryer. He said it would be worth a service call. He stopped by today and not only fixed the problem but also replaced a broken knob on the dryer as well. My mom called me after it was over and couldn't be more happy. She said he was very friendly, professional, and only charged her $85.00 for the repairs. I would definitely use Selby again.

They disassembled the dryer, replaced the belt, cleaned it out, and put it back together like true champs. No doubt they are seriously good at what they do. I will definitely call these guys again in the future.

They fixed the dryer in record time and were friendly despite a snow storm that had gotten worse since our initial call.. They could have easily called and cancelled because of the weather (which would have been understandable), but chose to uphold the appointment. Thank you!

Had to make two trips due to time constraints, no extra charge. The parts and labor were super reasonable. Very knowledgeable, answer all questions. Would definitely use again.

Gave wife tips about drying cycles and why she thought dryer was exceedingly hot. Wife's fears allayed. Twenty-some year old dryer still going along nicely after clean bill of health by Selby. Price of a service call. Will call on Selby again as needed.

We appreciated his courtesy, his ethics, his professionalism, and really liked the fact that he tried to save us money by trying to solve the problem ourselves. Who does that these days? We don't know of many people who would turn away possible work & teach the customer to try to do it on their own. We will definitely refer him to our friends should they need an appliance repairman. We'd give A+ to all the above categories if we could.
Description of Work: Selby & his partner came out and fixed a leak in our refrigerator/freezer. He not only fixed it, he showed us how to fix it on our own if it should happen again. He explained over 2 phone calls prior that we could try to troubleshoot this on our own (saving us some money) OR have him come out. We did try to fix this on our own twice and when it didn't work either time, we finally called him back a third time to come to our house. He is very courteous, very professional, called before coming over to make sure we were here and that we still needed his services (he was actually early). He explained the problem and the solution. My husband now knows what he needs to do if the problem should arise again.
