I was impressed by how polite their workers were and how clean their work was. Although we have not had any flood events yet, I am confident if any issues arose they would come out and stay true to their guarentee.

They were very professional, prompt, clean, and did a good job on the inside. My only concern is that they could not do the drainage pipe burying, they're trying to bury the drainage pipe with the waterproofing just because it was cold and they had to wait until the weather warmed and they would have another company do that. Everything else they did very well, we haven't had any water leakage since then and it looks good. If they had included the drainage in the overall cost then that would be better. If we move to another home and we needed it again, then we would definitely consider using them again.

We are very happy with the results. We have had some severe weather this summer and not one drop of water has leaked into the basement. The damp odor is gone. Charlie the owner and Harry, Glen.and the other 2 workers were very professional. They worked the entire time. No standing around talking. They covered my wood floors and carpet and moved furniture out of their way as not to damage it. I can't say enough good things about them.
Description of Work: They took out the cement floor about 12inches from the wall, lay new drainage pipe and gravel, put in a new sump pump, put up a liner around the whole perimeter of the basement and then cemented over the drainage pipe. Also installed a glass block window.

Those people were great! They were absolutely fantastic! The workers and Josh, who was the sales person set everything up. They came over and explained everything to me. All of them were very professional and courteous. They couldn't have been better! The work that they did shows their professionalism. I hope I won't have to use them again, but if I needed, then I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Pioneer Basement Solutions two weeks ago. They took the cement up around three of the walls in our basement, because of water leakage and dampness, and replace the old piping in there with new piping. And then, recement it over.

Initially we thought we only needed some of the paneling on our old system replaced, and we wanted the new windows and humidex to cut down on ventilation costs. Charlie seemed doubtful that just fixing the paneling would keep the basement dry under wet conditions, but he agreed to do the work. On the day his crew arrived, we had gotten about 3" of rain and there was water everywhere in the basement. We quickly realized that we needed the whole system redone, and Charlie gave us a revised quote. His crew worked on the originally scheduled work (window replacement, humidex, etc.) in very rainy conditions the first week and scheduled the remainder of the work for a few days later. We ended up having to reschedule because of an emergency on our end, and he was able to fit us in for later that week. We sure appreciated his flexibility on it. The total time to completion was about 5 days, and it was a crew of a 2-5 guys, without direct supervision from Charlie for most of the time. But they did a great job and the basement looks completely different than it did before. Hopefully we are dry from here on out, and if not, there's a lifetime warranty.
Description of Work: Removed ineffective interior basement waterproofing and replaced it with a new system. Installed 6 glass black windows. Installed basement humidification system. Redid wiring to sump pump and ventilation system. Replumbed sump pump outlet.

Called on May 20th, 2013 and made an appointment to get an estimate on waterproofing my basement. Two days later I realized I had a retirement dinner to attend on the same day of the appointment and I call to reschedule. I have never heard back from them. Either they don't need the work or they need to be more professional in deal with potential customers.

The day before they were to start work we received a call from Caleb, our salesman and the head of our work crew. He informed us they would be at our home approximately from 8 am to 3 pm. The crew arrived promptly and went right to work, sealing off work areas with plastic so that our home would not get all of the dust involved with drilling. By the end of the first day they had the sub floor area drilled out and the Xinite wall panels installed. They took minimal number of breaks, were very conscious of keeping our home clean and left promptly at 2 pm. At 8 am the second day they returned, completed the job in the basement, placing gravel on top of the pipe and cementing over the area dug. They then proceeded to extend our downspouts in the south and west corners further out into our lawn. They again were finished by 1:30-2 pm, had their equipment cleaned up, and left no trace of having been here. It rained the night they finished and all the next day. We got to see our new system at work. The sump is quiet and the basement is dry!! They were courteous, knowledgeable of our needs, and conscientious of dirt/debris in our home. I would invite them back in an instant and definitely recommend them to a friend or other possible customer.
Description of Work: We have a house that is 59 years old. Over time the outside footer drain (probably clay pipe) becomes clogged or broken and is no longer usable. We had water on the walls and at the base of the wall where it meets the floor. We called Pioneer for an estimate to waterproof our South and West walls which appeared to be the source of the water. They drilled into our basement floor, installed a sub floor drainage system (perforated pipe to the sump) and sump crock with a new pump. Pioneer then put up a Xinite Waterproofing Panel System on the walls. In addition, they put in a new check valve on our old sump (still in use) and extended two of our downspouts out further from the house. We have had several good days of rain since the installation and the result is a bright, dry, and usable space now waiting for our remodeling contractor to complete as a family room.

The men were very professional and polite. The problems they ran into they explained it to me making sure I understood why another direction had to be taken to ensure the quality of the job. I have put a lot of money into this project and I expected quality and that's what I got!! I did not have to pay hundreds of dollars more because of a change in plan! The crew cleaned and mopped after they were done. Also, they checked my gutters out!! Great job guys, the basement loos good!

Our house is 65 years old, and we've lived in our house for nearly 20 years. There has always been a small damp spot in one corner of the basement - particularly in the spring and summer months following snow melt and rain. We would run the dehumidifier an problem solved well enough. Last summer (2012) after months of hot dry weather, a very dry ground that pulled away from the side of our house and left a small gap between the ground and the foundation, a torrential rain storm was enough to turn the small damp spot to stream of water gushing into our basement. After checking Angie's List we got 3 referrals for repairs, waterproofing, etc. Although the price quotes were similar, Pioneer was by far the most professional and least pressure sales. The gentleman who assessed the repairs and provided the quote was very professional and very patient in explaining the work that would need to be done. Compared to the other quotes which seems to be a standard "one repair fits all leaks" kind of approach, Pioneer proposed unique solutions geared to our specific home and the nature of our specific leak. All workers were polite, professional, and responsive to questions. The work was time in a timely fashion and given the overall mess that basement waterproofing entails, the workers were very tidy. I can't say enough about the company.

Josh, the sales representative, came out in October and quoted the price, explained the procedures, and made me fully aware of the work that was involved. He was on time, gave me the most information, and even investigated some additional issues I spoke about. He quickly turned down the idea of exterior treatments, which they do perform, but felt it was not needed due to the cost, and told me the interior would solve my problems. I told him I did not currently have the money at that time, and this led me to choose them over other companies. Pioneer didn't call me every week to try some senseless sales pitch by taking money off or pressuring me into signing a contract. Josh called me once to follow-up a few days after he came out, and thanked me for letting him come out. Between then and the time I called him back, he respected that I was trying to get the money together, unlike 2 other companies that also came out (The other 2 companies called several times and tried the aggressive sales pitches to try and get me to sign). I called josh back in February, and he honored his original estimate, gave me the Angies List coupon discount, and was able to schedule my job quickly. On the Friday before the work was to be performed, Pioneer called me to confirm and ensure it was still good. They arrived at the exact time they promised on the first day (8:30 AM) and started working right away. The 4 man crew worked so hard I was shocked at how fast they got everything done. While performing work they noticed and addressed some unde-rconcrete drainage issues I had for my main sewer drain, but continued working around it. They recommended a plumber come and fix, and even had a guy in mind, who also quickly came out and fixed the issue since it was for Pioneer Basement solutions, and did the repairs for a lot less than my uncle would have done it for (My Uncle is a 30 Year Plumber by profession). On the 2nd day, the crew showed up again right on time at 8:30, but due to the plumbing work and water heater work, waited to complete their work until everything else was fixed. After they completed the work, they cleaned EVERYTHING up, wiped down the walls they installed, and reviewed all work with my wife. She was also very happy with the work and customer service. A few days later, we had some large amounts of rain, and sure enough, my basement is dry! I wish Pioneer did all sorts of general contracting work, so I could hire them for more work. This is by far the best experience I have ever had with anyone doing work on my home, and hope my review convinces everyone to use them. This company was NOT the lowest quoted company I had come out, but I knew they were better than any other company. Please feel free to contact me, and I will further convince you that they are THE BEST. Exceeded my expectations, and their lifetime warranty, regardless of who owns the home, backs it up.
Description of Work: Paid for full install of basement interior waterproofing system. 4 man crew came out, placed runners and plastic in home to prevent everything from getting dirty as they worked. Removed interior basement floor near walls, dug out dirt, placed drainage system, backfilled with stone, and filled back in with concrete to match current floor.

I suddenly had a lot of water coming in through the foundation weep holes in my basement laundry room. Estimator was professional and did not try to over sell like some other "national" basement waterproofers. Recommended a very reasonable plan of attack and answered all my questions in a very professional manner. On the day of the scheduled work they actually showed up 15 minutes early, to me that is unheard of for anyone is construction services and finished almost to the minute of the estimated completion time. The entire crew was very pleasant and took great consideration to keep my house clean, always removing their boots if they had to walk anywhere in the house and covering their path from the door to the basement with a protective cover. Crew was also very quiet when working, other than the jack hammering done for the trench I almost never heard them. They removed all jack hammered cement and dirt that was dug up for the sump pump and cleaned up after installation to the point you would not have known they were in the house. So far sump pump and waterproofing panels seem to be doing the trick, no more water in the basement.

We were very pleased with our experience with Pioneer Basement Solutions. The salesman, Josh Estep, answered all our questions and was very responsive to our questions and concerns. He was well aware of what the job would entail and how the work would be done. The work crew came on time. They covered everything we had in the basement with plastic to help cut down on the dust. They were able to keep our freezer plugged in the entire time they were working. They put down covering to protect the floor leading to the basement. The workers were very courteous. They had a job to do and they did it - I didn't see anyone just standing around the entire time they were here. They finished the job right on time. The city inspector had very positive things to say about their work. When they were finished, the supervisor told me everything I needed to know about the work and what I would need to know if we one day finished the basement. We were very pleased with the job that was done and have already recommended them to friends.
Description of Work: They obtained the required building permits. They trenched the interior perimeter to bottom of footer, installed weep holes, installed PVC drain pipe, gravel, seam shield and recemented the area. They checked the existing sump pump and once found it working used it instead of installing a new one (at our request). They installed a full interior waterproofing panel system. They checked the downspout in one corner to be sure it was draining properly. They installed a new window well for one of the basement windows to stop rainwater from leaking into the basement through the window.

They arrived on time, introduced themselves and got to work. They did not take a lot of breaks or long lunches. They took 1.5 days. Cleaned up after themselves very well. Laid down tarps on the carpeted stairs. #1 went fine, no issues/concerns. #2 I learned that the 'motor' on existing sump pump was inop & needed replaced ($200 up charge from original quote). Related to this, they suggested that the piping from the pump to the outside was zigging when it should have been zagging, making it more difficult for the water to get outside. For another $150 upcharge, they re-routed piping from pump to the exterior. They also determined that a plastic pipe from the downspout into the ground (within 2' of the spot where the sump pump pipe exited the house) was clogged with dirt/mulch and therefore water was not running to ground quickly. Fixed this myself afterwards. #3, they dug up a small area, put a hose in the area and confirmed that water was in fact heading to the sump pump. They patched what they dug up of course. They also ID'd an area of buried outside perforated piping that should be non-perforated. I replaced this myself afterwards and also (upon their recommendation) extended another pipe from a downspout further from the house. I held my breath to see if their work was going to provide the relief I desperately needed. 3 weeks later came Hurricane Sandy!. For 4 days I checked the basement 3x day. NO WATER, NO PUDDLNG! I'm sold. Would absolutely use them again.
Description of Work: Contacted for quote, they were speedy/professional. Based on info on Angie'sList & feedback from friends, I went with them without getting additional quotes from other providers. They started work within 7-10 days of obtaining the quote. Work was to perform 3 things. 1. "Trench" portion of basement where water was routinely puddling (~40 linnear feet of trenching). Work was to tie into existing trench work+sump pump that had been put in ~17 yrs ago. 2. Confirm that existing sump pump worked as in 17+ years I had never heard/seen it run & sometimes I had puddling in the portions of the basement that had previously been trenched. 3. If possible, dig up a portion of the previously-trenched area to confirm that water was getting there & being directed to the sump.

I interviewed three companies. Pioneer had the lowest bid and had the most professional presentation...though one of the companies wanted me to use them and went down on their original bid so I'd switch. Why didn't they give me that price to begin with? They came the first day with two jackhammers to put a trough in my damp basement floor edge...the lowest concrete block on the wall was damp. The second day they inserted a drain and cemented over the area so that water wouldn't collect in the block. They cleaned up perfectly---and it was a dirty job due to the concrete dust.I highly recommend them

The Pioneer Basement Waterproofing crew showed up on Monday exactly at the time stated. They were a crew of four men who all introduced themselves to me upon arrival. The crew leader, Gammie, told me exactly what they were going to do and they immediately got to work. They covered the everything in the basement with plastic and put down covering on the floor upstairs where they would be bringing things in. The first day was extremely loud due to the jackhammer, but was necessary to remove the concrete from the basement. They had one crew member who hauled out all the chunks of concrete in buckets which took him most of the day. The second day the same guy brought in gravel, again in buckets. I have never seen four guys work so hard in all my life! They were extremely polite and kept me aware of everything they were doing. There were no unexpected delays or hidden expenses. These guys were great! Thanks to Josh, Gammie, and all the crew from Pioneer Basement Waterproofing for a job well done from start to finish!
Description of Work: Pioneer Basement Waterproofing Co. crew dug an 18" trench around the perimeter of the basement, installed drain pipe and a sump pump, connected drain pipe outside, filled the trench in the basement with gravel, cemented over it and installed paneling to basement walls. All this work was completed in 2 1/2 days.

I couldn't be happier with the job performed and the entire experience I had with Pioneer. They were incredibly professional during the quotation process, straight through the entire job. During the quote, the owner, Rick Scherpenisse, came out along with two of his key employees, to ensure I would receive an accurate quote the first time. He was also very timely in providing me a written and thorough quotation for the work that was to be performed. Per my request, Rick also line itemized portions of the quote, allowing me to see where my costs were. This allowed me to do certain portions of the job myself, like trucking in the gravel that was used to backfill the over dig. I really appreciated his willingness to work with me. During the job itself, the entire crew was incredibly professional. The crew lead and excavator operator, Caleb, did a fantastic job digging up the house without incident. The rest of the crew worked in such a way that they didn't even need supervision. Everyone seemed to know exactly what to do and when to do it. Additionally, unlike many construction workers / contractors, I did not hear or see any inappropriate language or actions. This was important, as I have two young children who were watching the guys run the equipment very intently and listening/watching everything they were doing. The job was slated to take one week to complete (weather permitting), and they accomplished everything they promised within the given timeline. They were very clear with me on what they planned to accomplish each day, what they needed from me and they were fantastic on answering my questions as they came up. A few weeks after the job was complete, some of the soil had settled, and as a result the gutter drainage pipes had pulled away. After a quick call to Rick, he had someone out to fix the issue within a few days. These guys really are incredibly responsive! Finally, it will take time (and a lot of rain) to determine how good the job really was done. However, based on my reading of the products they used and how they were installed, I'm very confident that we should not have any problems. I had several estimates from various companies, and the Delta MS product Pioneer uses is superior to the other solutions offered by the other companies.
Description of Work: We hired Pioneer Basement Waterproofing (out of Canton) to perform a complete external waterproofing of our home. The job included excavating the outside to below the footer, removing and replacing the footer drains, wrapping the walls with Delta MS and then backfilling and rough grading the over dig. Additionally, we had retaining walls at the back of the house that were beginning to tip inwards. As part of the quoted price, Pioneer excavated behind the two retaining walls, helped push them back into place, and then install the proper drainage and backfill behind the walls.

basement waterproofing

They arrived with 4 workers and used a jackhammer to breakup the concrete around the perimeter in the basement. They removed all the concrete and replace it with gravel and new concrete. They did an excellent job of blending the new concrete into the existing floor. We had tile down in some areas and they took the time to ensure that there was a clean break along a row of tile to make it easier to lay new tile. They cleaned up after they were finished and left the place cleaner than it was to start with. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about their service. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Due to some flooding in our basement, we contacted Pioneer. We had used Pioneer approximately 5 years ago to waterproof and install a sump pump in the south end of our house due to some leakage. It has worked flawlessly, so, we contacted them to waterproof and install a sump pump in the north end of our house. They arrived on schedule and performed their work in a timely manner. All of the people I dealt with were courteous and professional. I would highly recommend pioneer to for any type of basement waterproofing.
