JP Grabenstetter Construction did a fantastic job with my basement remodel. The quoting process was simple and most importantly John listed to what I wanted. Several other contractors just quoted the high end of the range I was willing to spend (or above), not knowing that I intentionally inflated the range for the quoting process to see what I would get back. I had a very good idea what the market rates are for this type of work and John was right in that range with a fair and honest quote versus trying to gouge the price. The billing and scheduling was very well run with pay as you go and weekly updates as to what was on schedule the following week. The basement was a blank slate when they started and the finished product turned out great. All of the team members that we interacted with were very courteous, pleasant and could hold a conversation to discuss any questions or concerns.

We had an unfinished basement project we were looking to complete. In this project we knew we had plans for a gym, a backstock pantry, closed off storage area, and wet bar / tv area for entertaining. We didn’t know however how to make it all flow, or have our vision come to life. Meeting JP Grabenstetter allowed us to do this. John came in and suggested the perfect layout for us and our space. Out of the 3 quotes we got for our basement this company was the far superior choice. He made our vision come to life, provided great communication on when the team would be doing what work during the many weeks of renovations, and answered our constant questions along the way. When we decided to finish out our basement we got estimates from 4 different contractors, we certainly made the right choice. I canâ t recommend John & his team enough! The transformation of our basement has been a great experience, from quote to finish the process has been smooth. No worries of the contractor agreeing the job and then subbing out the work to the lowest bidder. John and his team did a fantastic job on our basement finishing. His crew was professional, punctual and skilled. They finished my basement of 1300 sq. feet with in 6 weeks. The whole experience from sales to delivery was a good seamless experience. His office lady Cheryl processed the paperwork (change order, payments, ordering of raw materials, delivery etc.) in a very methodical way. There was never a confusion what would come next and how it would be executed. My friends tell me that my basement is of much a better quality than my house upstairs and I agree with them! I strongly recommend John and his team for basement finishing.

Our experience with John was great. He patiently worked through design and layout options before the project began. He also worked with us on various elements throughout the process. He crew was friendly, timely, and kept things clean during construction. High quality detailed work. We love our new space and highly recommend John and his crew.

To start off, I want to state that we are happy with the end product and given the choice to do it over, we would still go with JP Grabenstetter for our basement remodel. Our project was to take an unfinished basement and separate it into a Bedroom, Workout Room, Living Space (with rough-in for a kitchen), and Full bathroom. See the pictures, the final result is beautiful and I am happy that I didnâ t have to do any real work other than clear out the mess before they started. The crew was all polite and friendly, which is important when you have strange men in your house every day for two months. That being said, I would like to provide some advice for working with this or any contractor. Make sure every detail that is important to you is in writing in the contract in advance. There were no bad faith issues, but since contractors come in and out throughout the project, their guide is that contact. There are several areas that we had to reinforce our intent to the contractors because a given item was not spelled out in the contract. Since we were fairly active in our project (reviewing progress and introducing ourselves to each group) we didnâ t end up with a problem. I would not make any assumptions about the materials or product used. If they are not stated then you have no guarantees. We assumed that all the outlets would be tamper resistant and the trim would all be wood. The trim was MDF and the outlets are standard not tamper resistant. This was not an issue of cutting corners, I just didnâ t think to mention and since it was not in the contract they used their standard selections. We had some other hiccups along the way, but since we were reviewing and in communication with John throughout, everything worked out. One item that we ended up pivoting on in the project is the shower. Because our basement was not pre-plumbed for a bathroom, our shower needed to be higher off the ground than it otherwise would. This caused our shower to be a step up. As a change order, we added an actual step that matched the floor. I think the end result actually looks better, so it was a worthwhile change. All of that being said, we had some unexpected good surprises also. We had two areas that shelves were to be added in our project, both could have been done with off the shelf products. Johnâ s team did custom shelves that exceeded our expectations. Our project came in on schedule and on budget.
