We were referred to East Ohio Furnace Company by our home warranty company. Our air conditioning stopped working during a recent heat wave and East Ohio responded quickly to remedy the problem. The young technician, Trent, was amazing and he fixed the problem very quickly. We are very appreciative and we highly recommend East Ohio Furnace Company! John Frazier, Alliance, Ohio

We are new homeowners and got this company’s info from the home warranty’s preferred vendor. I called and they have me scheduled the next day. An older gentleman came and check the problem, told me that the blower is old and needed parts and he’s coming back the next day to fix it. He came back as promised and on time. Explained what happened and what’s needs to be done. Highly recommended!

This company in my experience has been totally incompetent, and I would never use them again.
Description of Work: Yesterday (10/12/2017) I had my HVAC company out to see why my A/C was constantly blowing fuses. They discovered that a contactor which had been replaced at some point was not secured, and was able to move and come in contact with another component, causing a short circuit. I looked back in my files and saw that East Ohio Furnace had done this work in 5/2013. I had used East Ohio Furnace during 2013-2014, until they ruined my heat exchanger in 2014, and then I went out & found a quality HVAC company. In 2014, I had a no heat situation, and they adjusted the gas pressure on the furnace incorrectly, which fouled up the heat exchanger with soot. This cost me $900 to have it repaired. During the 2 years that I used East Ohio Furnace, they have now cost me almost $1500 to repair their screw-ups. I am surprised that they have as good a rating as they have here.

We called late in the afternoon and a tech arrived within 90 minutes. We had a problem with wasps having built a nest in the compressor switch gear. He cleaned out the nest and had us back up and running in a matter of minutes. We were very pleased with the prompt, courteous service at a very reasonable price.

We didn't know what was going on. The pipes were shot in a lot of cases so they replaced that. They replaced several things and ultimately it came that there was a crack in the boiler. I know that my husband talked to them. We didn't find the furnace. They gave him different options and he picked one of the options that they offered. I would absolutely recommend them to anybody. I'll keep using them. They were very good. We kept having problems and it seemed like it was always on a Friday at the end of the day that the thing would break down. They were very good about coming out whenever they had to. I think we first got them to do a check up on the furnace. As a result of that our service calls were free and we had a lot of service calls. They just responded right away and responded very well. The initial visit was $89 to check out your furnace. They don't charge you a service fee. They would charge us for whatever they had to do. But they didn't charge us for showing up. I think that is for a year we have free service calls. The showing up is free for a year. We had them a lot of times. We had them probably six to eight times. They gave us a good price. We found out that with steam heat, the boilers are very expensive. They're much more expensive than furnaces unfortunately. My husband is pretty good on researching prices and he felt that it was a real fair price. I don't know that they gave him a discount. They might have given him a discount. I know that he thought that it was a good deal. I was very satisfied with the price. They definitely were responsive.
Description of Work: We bought this repo house and it is steam heat. It hadn't been operating for three years. So, we had a lot of problems with it. They came out and fixed it and eventually replaced the boiler.

7 months after purchasing our home, the 22-year old Lennox furnace died. The purchase included a 1 year warranty through HSA, so we opened a claim. The first company they put us in touch with never returned any calls, so they set us up with a service call through East Ohio. Their tech (Tracy) was extremely prompt and was able to rig the furnace to provide heat despite the fact that the control board was not functional. East Ohio attempted to replace the board with a Lennox approved board, but that board did not work. East Ohio then contacted HSA to inquire whether they would approve a replacement - which they did. East Ohio then performed a replacement with an HSA-provided brand new furnace. Considering the furnace and the installation labor were paid for by the warranty company, I felt our out-of-pocket was a little high (we had to pay for sheet metal work, electrical modification, etc) - but since we got a new furnace out of the deal, it's not too bad. East Ohio came through for us when we had no heat in the middle of the coldest February on record.

Although buying a new furnace is not a fun purchase or even something we were really expecting, all the employees from East Ohio Furnace were extremely friendly, helpful, professional, & knowledgeable. We were very pleased with their customer service & all the work they completed. We were also very happy with how quickly they finished the job so we were not without heat for very long. We will definitely be recommending this company to family & friends.
Description of Work: We called East Ohio Furnace on a Thursday evening around 8 pm because our furnace blower was not working. It was smelling "hot." A very friendly and professional guy (Tom) came to our house that evening and thoroughly inspected the furnace. He gave us a very honest diagnosis-we needed a new furnace. The next morning 2 gentlemen, Mark and Red, came and partially installed the furnace (so we could have heat over the weekend) before they had to go to another job. They were also very friendly & knowledgeable. Then, Monday morning Mark came back to complete the job.

The tech was very friendly and helpful...most importantly, he knew exactly what he was doing and took care of the problem quickly. I wish we had contacted them before shelling out lots of money to another company where the tech wouldn't even LOOK at the unit that wasn't working. I will definitely be working with East Ohio Furnace in the future.

They came and did a thorough inspection and detailed what was wrong with the tank and submitted it to my insurance company in a very clean and thorough manner. They basically took care of everything for me. I had a very good experience with them. The gentleman's name was Jesse. He was a pretty good guy. He didn't sugarcoat anything and that's what I appreciated. I would definitely recommend them. You can have Saturday appointments. When I made an appointment, they were around the same day. I called that morning and they were there that afternoon. Their pricing was reasonable.

Timely arrival. Thorough but did not end up resolving the issues. I also requested a quote on insulating some steam piping. They took pictures but did not get back with the quote. I called back around 1/2/13 for info on the quote, they said they had called me but I had nothing on my phone. They commited to getting me the quote but they still have not gotten back with it.

The gentlemen were punctual and worked efficiently and effectively in removing the old furnace, A/C and humidier, then installed all the new. They showed up when they said they would, were considerate and polite. They were clean and cleaned up after themselves. It was apparent that they cared about their work and it was important to them that they did an excellent job. This was just an excellent experience and I would recommend them to anyone. The service, warranty and price was great.

After a power surge knocked out our AC we called East Ohio Furnace after being referred to them by the electrician we had out to inspect our electrical box and wiring. Because this was an insurance claim and the weather was quite hot at the time, we didn't get any other estimates, so I don't know how their price would have compared to that of other companies. East Ohio Furnace came out to assess the damage on 07/28/10, but had to order some parts and came back on 07/30/10 to complete the job, which required fabricating some parts on site. They fixed the unit correctly the first time and we had no other problems with it for the remainder of the season.

Aron, a service person from East Ohio Furnace, was sent to respond to a "no heat" situation with the furnace of my house. It was late in the day and he had already been working a very long day, but because the problem was rather serious, he put my call at the top of his list and arrived at the appointed time very promptly. I followed Aron as he methodically checked each component of the system, starting from the thermostat. He happily explained all the testing he was doing. I have a technical background myself and I appreciated his descriptions and they were all reasonable and logical. Two issues were identified. One was the temperature sensor that gave the unit its indication that the flame was on. That required cleaning and he showed me how to do that and said it should be done every year. The second was identified as the thermostat itself. I could understand why the contacts were bad since the thermostat had been turning on and off every few minutes, which was the symptom that there was something wrong. I was told to replace the thermostat or he could replace it. The price for him to put his thermostat in was over a hundred dollars. I could have done it for half that cost myself, but decided to have the entire job completed by them so there could be no question if a problem developed in the future. (The furnace had a history of problems and I wanted the one-year warrantee to be in full force.) As with the rest of the work, he did it quickly and very carefully, taking care not to damage the paint on the wall and explaining every step and even the color coding of the wires. In a short time, the whole system was working and I was paying the bill. The quality of the thermostat was excellent. The work was done quickly and with all necessary explanations and advice for taking care of this in the future. My main accolade is for the person who did the service, Aron. He was great. The issue of cost was a little high, but that is company policy and it was not entirely outrageous. Fast service was worth it. After the first visit, the problem returned and so the company again came out and replaced a different part of the electronic controls. I watch the testing process and it seemed thorough. Within a week the system failed again and another repair visit decided that the previous part was defective and replaced it with another part at no charge. Then, the problem became intermediate and it would cease providing heat then work for a few hours. Two more visits from the service people never identified the problem but those visits did not cost me anything. In retrospect I would have been happier if they had not suggested that I should consider just buying a new furnace from them fora few thousand dollars. There were conjectures that something else might be wrong but it would be costly to take the furnace apart and check. This furnace now works fine. The problem only occurred during the most sever cold weather and when the weather moderated the problem stopped. I spent time learning about the system and realize that the number of sensors and the control process is quite extensive. The first service visit probably did fix a problem but I think the settings for the sensors were never quite right and so it would fail under duress. But, that is just conjecture and it is unclear to me whether the problem is the inability to deal with the sophisticated electronics or if the skill level of all furnace repair companies is about the same. I give positive feedback on the prompt service and willingness to have multiple service personnel return multiple times. I give positive feedback on the individual service personnel who made the attempts at repair as they appeared competent, friendly and professional. I give positive feedback on their willingness to stand by the guarantee of their work for a year. I will downgrade my initial overall evaluation since there was some problem that they could not diagnose and just buying a new furnace based on no specific fault in my current one was not a confidence building response. Ultimately, it has been two years and it is still working but has not been subjected to the duress of the extreme cold that caused the initial service call. I think this is a good company for most basic heating problems and would be willing to recommend them but if this happens to me again, I will call a different company.

I was horrified to find cardboard stapled, nailed and duct taped from the cold air return to the floorboards up above. This was supposed to be an efficient cold air return system! I was disgusted with poor workmanship and contractors and had heard others mention Angie's list. I investigated, joined and called several HVAC people on the list to come for quotes. East Ohio sent Tracy who arrived on time and was thorough, looking at all the problem areas that I pointed out and in answering my questions. Another person came and gave a quote; the third person canceled but gave another reference. I decided to go with Tracy from East Ohio and can't tell you what a fantastic and professional job they did! Everything is sealed as it should have been in the first place; excellent quality work. I highly recommend East Ohio Furnace and Tracy and Johnny for any HVAC work you need to have done.
Description of Work: Tracey and Johnny repaired badly installed cold air return ductwork and heat ductwork in the crawl space. They removed the reflective cardboard that was supposed to direct cold air to the return in the furnace and replaced it with sheet metal, securing it and sealing it so that the system didn't pull dust/dirt from the (concrete)floor crawl space. They secured other loose parts of the system and sealed other ductwork that wasn't tightly installed with silicone.
