Cramer Engineering, LLC

Well, I should have checked the Angies List reviews before we hired them. They did come out promptly but then took nearly a month to provide us with a report that not only had numerous mistakes, but it came to conclusions that we knew were not correct. In addition to recommending nearly $20,000 of repairs. Paid them $600. We have since done our research and hired another structural engineer, Jim Wright, from Western Reserve Home Inspection who came out promptly, provided a report within a few days and provided the structural "details" that we needed to go back to the builder with. See our review on this 2nd inspection. As for Cramer -- would NOT recommend. In fact, I'm annoyed with AL -- because I thought I was searching for engineers in the first search box of the website like i used to -- and then could look at all the reviews. Instead, it took me though a series of questions and then the "PROS" reached out to us. I assumed these were vetted (i.e., ratings of a B or better). NOT SO. Now I see that Cramer has a number of D and F ratings. Hard, expensive lesson to learn.

This is a complete SCAM. If I get any type of invoice from them I’m going to the police. I’ve reported them to BBB and Angie’s List

In the end, I got a full refund, so I don't want to leave too-damning of a review. The important parts are that we thought we were hiring a licensed structural engineer to come look at our house and give us (relatively expensive) advice. What we got instead was somebody else - unlicensed - to show up (on a Sunday, which was nice!), do a cursory inspection, tell us nothing serious was wrong, and leave... and then realize later that maybe there were things wrong, and then send us a report later that left us feeling very troubled about Cramer Engineering, for various reasons. There was more back-and-forth, and after some forceful exchanges, we got a refund. We then found a different licensed engineer to come out - and tell us about the serious and not-so-serious issues we had, what we could do about them, and even how to do it ourselves, if we felt comfortable doing so. (Much better!) I suggest you look elsewhere for structural engineering services.
