Rich was very professional, and I would recommend him to anybody.
Description of Work: Rich came out and fixed our storm door. First he applied wood putty to the damaged part of the door jamb. Then he re-attached the torsion bar and adjusted it to shut properly.

He was friendly. We did not end up using him, but may in the future.
Description of Work: He came out and submitted an estimate for a few jobs.
Good work, the results look professional and Rich quickly finished both jobs in about half a day. On the window he offered to finish up the cosmetic details, (just some paint) but gave me the option of finishing it up myself, which is exactly what I wanted. The storm door is perfectly installed and looks great. I went to the store, picked out the door I wanted, paid for it and brought it home. Rich took off the old door, assembled the new door and put it on. I was happy to pay him to do it because I can only imagine the aggravation I would have gone through trying to do it myself. Rich hauled away the old window awning and storm door, so I didn't have to figure out where to dump that stuff. As far as I'm concerned everything went perfectly.
Description of Work: Replaced rotted wood around second story window and installed a storm door.

I was never contacted back by the company, so did not have any work completed.
Description of Work: I have called Coach Construction on two occasions and have not received a return phone call. I then e-mailed and after two weeks have not heard back via e-mail or by phone. It is concerning to me that no one contacted me, and for that reason would not do business with this company in the future for fear of having the same continued experience. I do have an answering machine, so even if they called when I was not home they could have left a message. After seeing all the positive reviews I was really looking forward to to working with this company.

The owner, Rich Phelps, came out promptly to give an estimate and did all the work himself, He was professional, punctual and efficient. His prices were the best and we are pleased to have found him. We would recommend him highly to anyone as an example of what a Jack-of-All Trades should be. Thanks for your work.

Rich always arrived as planned, always cleaned up his job site each day and checked with me a bout my satisfaction with the job being done throughout the process. His painting & staining job was excellent. I have already used the for a second job.
Description of Work: Replaced floor trim, doors, hardware & closet doors. Cost included staining, painting & varnishing of bedrooms in additional to all oak lumber.
There was a pre-existing back porch room with floor to ceiling windows when I bought my house. However, it had not been originally well constructed, the windows were removable (and allowed rain to come in through screens) and portions of the wooden walls were decaying and rotting. I didn't know just how decayed the walls were and whether the roof and ceiling would be intact. As my father had been a builder, I was very familiar with good and bad construction -- and observing what passed for acceptable construction in this locale -- I was nervous about finding someone capable of providing top-quality construction work. Especially as I was certain the walls and maybe the ceiling were going to be a mess once we actually found out what was underneath. A friend who lives about an hour away had found Coach Construction on Angie's List and referred Rich to me. I didn't know if he would be willing to perform a job this far away, but I called him. He came up, looked everything over, wrote up an estimate, and we discussed what it included. We also agreed that the overall price might be higher if the walls turned out to be as disintegrated as I expected they might be. Rich was easy to deal with and reliable. He shows up early in the morning and gets straight to work. When I got home from work each day, I couldn't believe how much progress was accomplished. Every day, Rich brought his shop vacuum and completely cleaned up spotlessly. I have animals, so it was important to me that nails and other items weren't left around. Every day, he took away the rubble, so I had nothing obstructing my yard or house. There were a few delays, but they were all caused by ordered materials not arriving in a timely manner -- all outside of Rich's control. He shows up when he says he will, he's easy to work with, and the work is absolutely top-notch; and I'm hard to please. I simply won't accept mediocre work that is commonplace today. I would highly recommend Coach Construction to anyone interested in having great work performed at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Rebuilt existing but decayed back porch. Back porch had floor to ceiling windows with internal knotty pine paneling. It only had a storm door and the windows were entirely removable and could be replaced by screens -- which left the room open to rain. Each window was a different size. Coach Construction rebuilt the walls, replaced all windows with energy efficient windows that matched and were the same sizes, and replaced the knotty pine paneling. The company also added a new interior door and replaced the storm door. It added vinyl siding to match the exterior of the house, insulated all of the walls, and added an electric heater to make the room a four-season room.

He got the work done quicky w/no problems whatsoever.
Description of Work: Rich installed one canned light in my kitchen and also installed two glass block windows in my basement.
It went fine for me, not so much for Rich because, as I mentioned, he had a problem w/the stainless steel tiles coming loose and that added another day to the job. Rich always shows up on time and cleans up after himself when the job is done each day. The above listed price includes the cost of the tile, which Rich did not provide. I bought them from a supplier in New York so if the price seems somewhat high, that's why.
Description of Work: Rich installed all new appliances, window shades, glass mosaic tile back splash, trim and crown molding in my kitchen and also trim, crown molding and French doors in my dining room. Some of the tiles were stainless steel and the glue didn't hold them on (I purchased the tile from another supplier), so he had to re-glue each and every one of them by hand; there were hundreds of them and it added an entire 8 hour day to his job but he never complained and never stopped working until the job was completed. He didn't even take a break.

I was very happy with what they did. Their price was reasonable.
Description of Work: I used Coach Construction. They installed an exhaust fan for me on a rental property bathroom.
From the beginning Rich was professional giving us choices in materials used, allowing us to add on several jobs as he went along. He always cleaned up completely after each work day, gave us some great suggestions as we weren't sure how to do the laundry room and used quality products.
Description of Work: We had 5 windows replaced, deck repaired and new railing and steps, 4 closet doors replaced, new laminate floors laid, outside laminate trim around 3 large sliding glass doors, brought up and re plumbed and rewired and built first floor laundry room, matched baseboard trim in kitchen and family room and trim around all windows and doors installed.

He was able to meet us at a local lumberyard to pick out some lumber. He was knowledgeable about wood and how to do certain things with it.
Description of Work: Coach Construction did some woodwork above our fireplace.
Mr. Phelps was contacted via email contact and promptly responded, followed by a phone call to set up a time for estimate. His detailed estimate of what the job would include was received within 2 days. Because this home was to be placed on the market, Mr. Phelps was willing to work with me to schedule the job in a timely manner. From start to finish, Mr Phelps kept me informed as the each phase of the job, and when the unexpected arose, he was quick to describe what would need to be done. He took special care to protect each area of the house, from damage as he worked and cleaned up all debris each day. His attention to detail and workmanship....was without question, above the norm.
Description of Work: Coach Construction completed a total bathroom remodel.. This job included replacement of the flooring down to the floor joists and also replacement of all plumbing, which was in bad disrepair. All new bath fixtures and surround installed, wall and ceiling re-textured and new wall tile, wood trim and vinyl flooring was replaced. Most fixtures supplied by homeowner, with Coach Construction supplying the remainder of materials. Mr. Phelps was totally willing to work with this arrangement.
Prompt, polite, perfect. If all constuction companies acted like the "COACH" there would be no need for Angie's List.

I truly am excited about my new driveway. Rich, Coach Construction did an excellent job in replacing my existing drive to eliminate water issues, making the drive larger to accommodate more vehicles and easier to pull out to a busy road. I had a great deal of water issues because the old driveway had sunk and water would run and sit around the house. Rich suggested adding the grate and how the specific grading of the drive would assure appropriate runoff. Everything went as planned. The work was done on time as negotiated. After the old drive and walk were removed, stones were laid for a strong foundation with the ability to drive on it for about 2 weeks. The drive required a week of staying off. This will definitely eliminate my water problems while enhancing the value and beauty to my home.
Description of Work: My old driveway was removed and stone added to build and level the area back up. A new driveway was poured 49 feet X 23 feet with a 5 foot X 21 foot walk. A 17 foot by 4 inch grate was placed in front of the garage that was connected to my downspout drain for additional drainage. A new redwood pillar, gutter above my garage and associate down spout was replaced. I also needed a few cinder blocks under the front porch replaced due to prior damage. Finishing work of top soil and seed was placed around the drive and walk.

Overall, my wife and I are pleased with Rich's work. We contacted several contractors but Rich is the only one that was able to bid on the job. Although he seems to be very busy as a result of working on many jobs, he was able to find the time to come and do the job for us. After we showed him in details what he was supposed to do, he made a contract that we both signed. We agreed on the price to do the job as well as the schedule to complete the job. Rich met the schedule and did a quality job beyond what we expected.
Description of Work: Install ceiling fans and indoor lights including electrical wiring: Rich did an excellent job installing the ceiling fans. As I was joking with him, he made the job look very easy. My wife and I were pleased with the quality of his work. Repair ceiling that had cracks: Rich completely got rid of the cracks and repainted the ceiling. No one can tell whether the ceiling had cracks in them before. Demolition work of a satellite dish and TV antenna: Rich did an excellent job removing the satellite dish and TV antenna that we did not want. Our house looks more beautifull as a result of this demolition work. Remove yard trees: Rich removed a couple trees that we wanted to get rid of. He brought in some top soil to fill in the hole.
Coach Construction gave us an estimate and held firm to it. He did exactly what he said he would do and did the job extremely well. He called to schedule his visit and followed up after the work was completed. During the repair he asked if we were happy with the work and was willing to make changes if necessary. He also did some repairs to the gutters that were unexpected. The end results is better than the before the damage occurred.
Description of Work: Repairs were made to a barn. Two holes in the roof and side panels and molding were replaced and/or repaired. Repairs were done due to damage caused by a large tree branch.

Rich Phelps responded very quickly to my call. I explained that I never wanted to paint any of the wood trim around my front windows again. Also, the post that was holding up our quarter porch had rotted and needed to be replaced. Rich suggested Trex like material that would not have to be painted and was very durable. The replacement material was more costly than wood but was a good investment. This job was a lot of custom work especially around all the windows Rich was very courteous, worked very fast, cleaned up after the job was finished. Rich did an excellent job.

Good. Worked around our schedules cheerfully.
Description of Work: Wallpapering over paint in a small half bath. Some work had to be done on paint & plaster board. Uneven wall made work more difficult.
The instructions say that it should take only an hour to install the storm door that I purchased but apparently my door and frame had some issues so it took Rich nearly 5 hours instead. He's done this type of work before so I know that the fault did not lay w/him; it was my old house that was giving him problems. He worked in the rain, poor guy, but never complained, never said that he'd like to come back when the weather is more cooperative, never stopped working; he just kept on going. He came indoors afterwards to install my window blinds which took him only minutes and then we talked about future work. The man is a gem.
Description of Work: Rich has done other work for me and I should've reported that as well and, actually, I did report the first one. However, he's done so much for me since then that I've lost track. This time he installed a storm door and some window blinds. He's also done more trim work and I've already booked him to install my kitchen backsplash w/iridescent glass tile. I showed him the website where I bought the tile and he studied it and read all about various techniques, even though he's installed tile many times before. He's quite thorough and prompt and I'm thinking of adopting him. ;)
Overall, we have had an excellent experience with Rich Phelps. He is quite skilled at different types of jobs and resourceful, as well as very creative in problem solving. Rich is responsive, considerate and understanding of homeowners' needs. Likewise one needs to be accommodating in scheduling work, to get in the queue, especially smaller jobs with him. He willingly recommends the type of hardware and picks up stuff on the way in. I believe we struck a good relationship and hope to use his services whenever needed. I recommend Rich as a very dependable person without any reservations what-so-ever.
Description of Work: Rich provided services relating to replacement of faucets, sink drains and faucet connections; electrical fittings, additional outlets, wiring; re-installing ceiling fans; fixing/replacing main floor bathroom floor; replacing corroded tub drain; replacing flush internals to stop leaks-had to remove and replace commode and tank; mailbox; washing machine and dish-washer connections; hung curtain rod; fixed a drawer.

It went very well and we are very pleased with the work.
Description of Work: The brick molding around the door to our garage had rotted. Rick replaced the molding in between his other jobs because it was a small job. He did a great job at a reasonable price in a timely fashion. We will definitely be using his services again in the future. Rich gave me the quote on Monday March 9th and finished the work on Saturday March 14th.
