 + -1 moreI heard complaints from neighbors re dissatisfaction with job & lack of follow-up. Went to online Better Business Bureau (http://cleveland.bbb.org/) which continues to give them an F rating. American Asphalt aka American Asphalt Sealcoating PO Box 600 Chesterland, OH 44026 Further research on company history & owner was enough to suggest I should look elsewhere. I am thankful such resources are easily available to consumers and continue to use them.
Description of Work: Provided estimate with follow-up.

 + -1 moreCame out in timely manner (less than a week) for estimate. Received estimate in US Mail 10 days later. Price was prohibitively high, higher than all other asphalt and concrete prices.

Description of Work: We had American Asphalt rip out and repair our asphalt driveway. Because it was toward the end of the season, they informed us that they could not put on the top seal coat until the spring. We requested that we withhold paying them the final $1000 (the cost of the seal coat) until they performed the work. They refused, and we had to accept this because we needed the driveway repaired ASAP. The next spring I called at least 5 - 7 times inquiring when they would come out to do the seal coat. They always said that the weather is not nice enough but that we were at the top of the list. They never did the work, and basically stole $1000 from us. Even more annoying is that sales reps from the company keep on calling us up to see of we would like to pay them to reseal the driveway! Theses reps are obviously not aware of the events that took place previously, and are just going through their database to get more business. Each time ,they call we explain to them the situation and ask that hey stop harassing us. Shockingly, they keep on calling to try to get us to buy a resealing service.

 + -1 moreWe contracted them for Sealcoating, crack sealing and patching work on our driveway. After they did their patch work, one of the area where they did the patchwork sunk and a pothole was created. It had been since May since we are following up and it is September and there hadn’t been anyone who came in to either fix it or check on it. I would have called them up over 15 times during this period and they will just mention that we are scheduling us and will call us back with a schedule, then no one will call back!! Overall completely un-professional and very poor in communication.

 + -1 moreTHEY CAME AND GAVE ME ONE FOR DRIVEWAY SEALING FOR $330. I CALLED THEM TO SCHEDULE THE WORK, LEFT A MESSAGE ON THEIR VOICE MAIL, AND SAID I WANTED TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. THIS WAS 2:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. IN FACT, EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST CALL I MADE, I GOT THEIR VOICEMAIL EVERY TIME I CALLED. I WAITED SEVERAL DAYS, DID NOT GET A CALL BACK, SO CALLED AGAIN AND SAID I WANTED TO SCHEDULE THE JOB. I GOT A CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY (A THURSDAY) FROM A SECRETARY WHO SAID THE SALESMAN WOULD CALL BACK THAT WEEKEND TO SCHEDULE. NO CALL BY MONDAY, I CALLED AGAIN AND LEFT ANOTHER MESSAGE, AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM ANYONE. THAT WAS THREE WEEKS AGO. EVIDENTLY THIS COMPANY IS SO BUSY AND SUCCESSFUL THEY DON'T NEED ANY MORE BUSINESS. I CALLED ANOTHER COMPANY, AND THEY HAVE BEEN VERY PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL SO FAR.
Description of Work: I CALLED AMERICAN ASPHALT SEALCOATING AND THEY CAME OUT PRETTY QUICKLY FOR AN ESTIMATE.
