We are a small company, that's big on service. We do most everything that improves your home. from small decks to large additions. We are hands on. The only jobs we contract out is electrical and plumbing.
Overall he was a scammer, he took advantage of me as a senior citizen and I'm 86 years ord and the job and he didn't honor his original agreement, he went to being paid $1000 on a $2600 bill, and then he wanted more money down $11,398 from me, and then he said he would put pressure treated wood, and then he said his labored on the dock would be $8000 and I rehired somebody to do the entire job. He said that he had an insurance policy that was all a scam. I WANT A REFUND FOR THE ENTIRE JOB!

Michael did a great job. His guys worked hard and were very careful to details. Michael also welcomed certain design modifications that we requested during the project progress and made things happen. I met Michael after he bid for a project I submitted through this portal. he proposed a quote with itemized expenses, allowing me to work with him on certain details and material selection in order to fit the expenses within my target budget. He also interceded to find a licensed electrician and a masonry specialist to have a complete and well executed job. Michael proved to be a honest, approachable and reliable man and I'd like to hire someone like him for other jobs. Unfortunately he does decks only.
Description of Work: Complete demolition and re-build of a deck and a porch, coordinated with complete electrical rewiring of those two areas with landscape and path lights and with the build of a retaining wall and updated stone paving.

Touch of Class replaced old deck boards but kept our existing support system. He showed up for all pre-work appointments on time and started and ended the job on the schedule and price we agreed upon. He gave us some great suggestions prior to work beginning that helped to make the project every thing we had hoped it would be. We loved the quality work Mike did. It looks great with obvious attention to detail. We were away while the work was being done and some rot on our support beams was found. We were not surprised due to the age of the deck. Mike emailed a photo of the rotten sections to us and gave us a very reasonable price to fix the issue. We were very grateful that he did not ignore the issue or take advantage of our absence. We felt very comfortable leaving our home for vacation while he did the work. He is a extremely honest, trust worthy, and a nice guy to boot. His workers cleaned the area when completed and we were very pleased with them. We plan to use him again for additional work in a few months. We highly recommend him!

Mike was AWESOME. He came by for the initial estimate and gave us some good ideas on what he was thinking. He took a lot of time to explain some of the roadblocks that may come up and didn't rush out the door. A few weeks later I called Mike to let him know we were ready and him and his crew were there the very next day. The complete job took less than 6 hours and they cleaned up all their mess in an orderly and tidy fashion. I would recommend anyone to give Mike a call and give him and his excellent team a chance to make your home a lot better.

I already had an approved plan and building permit from the town. Soon after demolishing the old deck, I realized that this project was too much for me to take on by myself. I called many contractors and Michael of Touch of Class was without a doubt one of the most responsive impressive with his knowledge of what was required. Michael was right in the neighborhood of most of the other quotes that I received (with the exception of 1 insane quote that was $7000 higher). Once we agreed to a price Michael and his guys were on site the next morning and never stopped. They built the whole deck, handled the inspection process, and were completely finished including all inspections and sign offs within one week. They even worked a full day on Fathers Day because they had gotten washed out by a full day of rain during the week. There were always at least 4 guys on site and they seemed to really know their stuff. They worked pretty much 8 am until 4 or 5pm everyday. I have a great deck, including C of O before some of the other contractors even called me back. I would not hesitate recommending Touch of Class for any deck job.
Description of Work: Touch of Class built a 300 sf pressure treated deck, plus a staircase with landing. The deck was elevated about 9 ft from the ground.

Our old timber deck (painted blue!) was slowly rotting away and was a good 15ft off the ground with a steep staircase which was not very safe for the kids so we needed a complete redesign and rebuild. I had a rough idea of what I wanted and had a few contractors come over to provide quotes. Touch of Class gave the best overall estimate as well as ideas of what we could do with the space. The owner Michael is a great guy and his team are friendly and courteous too. They got started on the work quickly and demo'd the old deck in no time. Michael recommended brown Trex boards and white vinyl railings which would be maintenance free. My wife wasn't convinced at first but when she saw the deck starting to take shape she was very pleased. ToC also arranged a survey so we could maximise the space and build the deck out as far as town zoning allowed. The end result is a wider, longer deck with a turned staircase which is much safer and betting looking. We are very pleased with the end result and would recommend Touch of Class to anyone looking for a new deck!

TOC's lack of experience and professionalism became painfully obvious from the start. Mike Palmentiero simply failed to look at the final plans, resulting in delivery of incorrect materials and irate sub-contractors who had based their bids on preliminary specs. Many sub-contractors expressed doubts about Mike Palmentiero's competence and were openly frustrated by his inability to focus on the project, let alone make promised payments. The result was that workers took numerous short-cuts and then moved on to other jobs. Whenever possible, TOC would pass off the ordering of materials to the homeowners ($18,000 total), claiming that work could not proceed until supplies were on site and that delays would occur if he had to ordered them himself. Once the materials did arrive they usually sat unused for weeks. He also made no effort to inspect the quality of work performed by sub-contractors or his own men, claiming he had "complete faith" in their abilities. The result was a series of expensive errors that plagued every phase of the project. Although we paid TOC only $8,000 directly for alleged "change orders," Mike Palmentiero demanded and received payments on behalf of the design/build firm, MyHome, implying work could not resume unless the payments were made. On Sept. 3, we foolishly gave him a $41,250 check for "Completion of rough-ins (doors, windows, electric and plumbing)”, even though windows and doors were not installed until Oct. 18 and plumbing was not working until late Dec. Less than 3 weeks later, he demanded and received a $46,250 payment supposedly due when the "House is weather tight," even though no sheathing, siding or French doors had been installed. TOC's decision to leave the house unprotected from the elements for five months proved to be disastrous. On-going rain infiltration not only damaged new construction on the second floor but ruined the existing ceiling, walls, and floor on the ground level (our living quarters during the renovation). Subsequent tests by Industrial Hygienists have confirmed we now have toxic mold growing throughout the house. All of these damages and the resulting health hazards could have been avoided if Michael simply followed the most basic building practices. As stated by a professional engineer hired to evaluate the damage,” There was a pervasive lack of construction management throughout the alteration project." The report concludes, "The degree of workmanship falls below the minimum levels of care and responsibility that needs to be applied to a project such as the addition at the Subject Property... The lack of installation of weather-resistant components is not only a violation of Code but also exhibits a disregard for standard construction technique." Ironically, during Michael's infrequent visits to the site he always appeared concerned, and we frequently received promises he would quickly "fix everything." But such fixes never materialized. Blame must also be shared with the architect of record, the project manager and local building inspector for not noticing the many flagrant violations. But for our dream home, Michael Palmentiero's "Touch of Class" became "The Kiss of Death."
Description of Work: Convert a small 1-1/2 story home into a full two-story house. Michael Palmentiero, d/b/a Touch of Class ("TOC"), was chosen by the design/build firm MyHome LLC to be the General Contractor on our modest (650 sq. ft.) project. The work involved removing an existing 1/2 second floor (except for a new bathroom), raising the four second story walls and adding a cathedral ceiling/roof. The project was expected to be completed in 5 months. Under the "design/build" concept, TOC was to work with the architect and project manager all under one contract and functioning (in theory) as a well-coordinated team. Among other duties, TOC was responsible for providing materials and hiring subcontractors.
