The person that was sent ("Tommy") had his own company, but I don't have info on him. First thing that he did was go to the freezer and was playing with the photoelectric circuit "to try to figure out how it worked" for another customer he was working on. Apparently had tried something that didn't work. On my problem Tommy looked it over and said that the "damper" was bad (we verified that it was in the closed position, when the temperature inside the refrigerator was about 66 degrees). I suggested whether it could be a thermostat or whatever electronics trigger the "damper" to open or close. Tommy said "no, I talked to a technician from the manufacturer, who said the damper is the problem." Subsequently, I learned that "Steve" the owner of Westchester Appliance talked with them. Apparently, it would take them a week to get parts and replace it. I asked him to remove the damper in the meantime so that cold air could come into the refrigerator. He couldn't figure out how to do that and told me he had never replaced a damper and wasn't sure how to do it. The process to get a new one was: a) he calls and gets pricing, b) I approve and pay a deposit, c) he orders the part, d) it arrives 3-5 business days later, e) they schedule an appointment to install it. I paid the fee for the estimate. I subsequently called the manufacturer, who will deliver the part overnight (for an extra $7) and made arrangements for another company to come and install through the manufacturer. I may be back. And, by the way, it isn't a "damper". It's an "air diffuser unit".
Description of Work: The refrigerator section didn't cool; freezer was fine. They came in to figure out what was wrong and get it fixed. The serviceman decided what was wrong, charged me for the estimate and said he would look up the part (see below).
