"This letter is in response to Angies List complaint regarding an Armstrong floor installation for (member) on August 4th 2011. There are several incorrect statements made by the consumer. First there was never any conversation regarding leveling of the floor prior to installation, there was a conversation though about the type of wood purchased by (member). I explained to him the product didn’t have a bendable spline as compared to the samples I provided him. In fact when doing the installation I spoke to Mrs. (member) and explained to her that approximately 40 to 50 square feet was warped and cupped, she then spoke to an Armstrong representative who then sent more wood. Consumer also states that the floor makes a sticky and popping sound when it is walked upon. The sticky sound is not an actual sound but rather a sensation of a cushion feeling when walked on due to the underlayment that’s necessary for proper installation as certified by Vincent A. Calabrese an Armstrong Representative. Also verified by this representative was that the adhesive used by Total Floors although not an Armstrong brand was compatible with Armstrong wood flooring adhesive. In regard to the popping sound I personally went there three times to the apartment and never heard this sound, in fact he told me that once he put pressure on the floor hours later the sound would eventually be heard. In an attempt to appease (member) I put floor pins in areas he pointed out to me. As far as the pins now sticking out, I spoke to (member) and of course I would come back to inspect his claim and if necessary would counter sick any floor pins beneath the surface of the wood. I also attempted to procure another Armstrong Representative. Jerry Naffco due to the fact the floor was purchased by (member) to respond to his concerns. Mr. Naffco refused to inspect the floor, insisting the installation was the problem and not the wood flooring. This in itself maybe a strong indication that the problem exists within the material purchased, as the Armstrong company was unwilling to stand by their product and inspect it installed. I did refuse to redo (member) floor after 22 years in Business and 18 years in this building I feel this customer cannot be satisfied. Sincerely, Tim Giannini President"
