+ -1 moreHe was true to his estimate of the cost and time. The set looks absolutely beautiful and the cost was approx. 1/3 the cost of a comparable new set. I am delighted because I really liked my old set, especially with the tweaks in color.
Description of Work: Robert refinished my 55 year old French provincial bedroom set and replaced the damaged dresser mirror.He darkened the stain, making it a light walnut and it is much more attractive than the original stain.

+ -1 moreThe whole process was great. I have been in Roberts Reatoration Antiques on Parkway Rd in Bronxville many times and I know his reputation. Still given how far gone this door was I am amazed at what we got back. Robert is very easy to deal with and prices fairly. I would absolutely use him again!
Description of Work: We have a 1926 Tudor style oak front door that was literally coming apart. The exterior finish was badly damaged by the sun. The ironwork was rusted. It was still a great heavy door and worth trying to save especially given the cost for a replacement. Robert took the door into his shop and boarded up the entrance. It turned out that he had to put the entire door back together. The verticle staves all separated. Even the leaded glass window needed redoing. He stripped the door, ran dowels through the staves to reinforce them, and sealed the separations between the staves. The cast iron pieces were painted, and the door was stained received four coats of spar varnish. It took slightly over a week to get it back, which is fair given the amount of work involved.

+ -1 moreIT WAS VERY PLEASANT. THEY ARE CONVENIENT IN A CENTRAL LOCATION WHERE I COULD BRING THE CHAIR AND PICK IT UP AFTER TEN DAYS. I CAN STILL SEE THE SEAM ON THE CHAIR THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO REPAIR. THE LEG HAD SPLIT AND THE SEAM WAS STILL VISIBLE.
Description of Work: A DINING ROOM CHAIR WAS REPAIRED.

+ -1 moreTHEY ARE FANTASTIC. THEY DO GREAT WORK. THEY WERE QUICK. THE DESK LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. IT WAS DEFINITELY PRICED FAIRLY. IT'S HARD TO FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN DO THAT KIND OF WORK, AND HE DOES IT WELL.
