I had been planning to use a painter I found through Angie's list to paint my living, and dining rooms and bedroom hallway, but after seeing the amazing job Steve did, and at a very good price, I decided to use FJB Contracting, and most especially, Steve. Very promptly at 9am Steve came with a helper, they moved all the furniture into the center of each room then covered it, got busy on the prepping, and painting. The living room was to be a repeat of the white color, but the dining room which is used as my office, I wanted a very soft blue. I had used this blue in the bathroom, but thought it was too dark for the dining-office. So Steve had the paint store mix a half and half with white--it looks spectacular. The swinging door between the hallway and kitchen got off its hinge, and Steve got one of their men to re-hinge it. They used non-voc paint so there was no smell, and the painting was finished in 4-5 days. They cleaned up everything beautifully, vacuumed any dust they had made from sanding, moved all the furniture back, even re-hung some pictures and a mirror. I couldn't be more pleased with the work, timing, and results.
Description of Work: Since there was a leak in my 2nd bathroom ceiling, my superintendent called his friend at FJB Contracting who sent over several people to prepare the ceiling . Then the master painter Steve did a great deal of prep work, and several coats of primer and then several coats of paint. He did a fantastic job--the ceiling looked better than it did when it was first painted many years ago. Then he painted the bathroom walls--there was some damage to several of the walls. I was extremely impressed with the job Steve did.

GREAT WORK, ON TIME AND ON BUDGET!!! I am not making this up. And in Manhattan, no less. Very rare in NYC. My architect and I interviewed and received bids from 4 construction firms. She received a recommendation of FJB from another architect, and went downtown to see an amazing apartment that FJB had renovated. My architect came back and said his work was terrific. Not only was Frank the nicest guy, as were his tradesmen, but his price was well-thought out and fair. The awful NYC permitting process aside, construction began in March and I moved into the pretty-much finished apt. in August. Small punchlist items remain, but they're not big and I trust all these guys so they are welcome to come and go as they please. The apartment is beautiful, thanks to both my architect (Barbara Friedman of Weil Friedman Architects) and FJB Contracting. Of course there were a few slip ups......a couple of kitchen cabinet fronts got scratched in the installation...but they were repaired perfectly. Marble bathroom floor needs honing for the third time, but Frank's being very exacting about how it looks. Here's something amazing. The glass tile backsplash in my kitchen was installed, and Frank came to look at it, wasn't happy with it, and ordered it taken out and re-done with all new tile, at his expense. Got to love a guy with standards. His painter and cabinet maker are particularly excellent and meticulous, and his electrician is a lovely man. All his workers were good, courteous, and easy to have around. They even played with my dogs.......If you are in the market to renovate an NYC home, make sure you include FJB Contracting Inc. in your bidding process.
Description of Work: This was a fairly extensive renovation of a 3 bedroom/2 bath co-op apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The prior owner had lived in the apt. for 40 years, so you get the picture. I had lived in a two bedroom apt at 75 East End for 14 years, and loved the building. My fiance' liked it too, so we got lucky when a larger apt. in the building became available. We needed to totally gut the kitchen and two bathrooms (cabinets custom made by CrownePoint in New Hampshire, high end appliances (Miele, Thermador, Kitchen Aid, SubZero) and bath fixturing (WetStyle), all new finishes throughout, surfaces, mouldings, new electrical panel, wiring and fixtures, tile, flooring refinished.) I was lucky in that much of the original parquet floor was covered with either carpet or linoleum, so I was able to just sand, stain and seal the floors and not replace them. FJB provided all the workers for each of the above areas. Frank Brady, Principal, was the General Contractor.
