Costas General Contracting

Costas satisfactorily completed a replacement of my roof, siding and windows. Costas charged a reasonable price, the work crew was professional, completed nice finishing touches such as adding an attic vent, painting my front door overhang, and a through cleanup of debris both inside and outside my home. My wife and I developed a good working relationship with the owner, Constantine, which is essential for a project of this scale. We had a few bumps in the road, if you will, but these are to be expected in a large-scale project. All issues were worked out, and my wife and I are pleased the end result. While I see there are several disparaging review of Costas on Angies’ list, I beg to differ. My experience with Constantine and Costas Construction was all above-the-board and professional. I neither observed nor had any reason to suspect Constantine or Costas Construction of any mis-conduct. I definitely recommend Costas Construction and would consider them if we require more work on our house the future.

The demolition went ok. The tiling went ok. Then, this knucklehead dry cut marble in our living room ($1200 to clean the apartment) He cracked the vanity mirror when he installed it. Our toilet leaked two days after he left (a real plumber repaired for us) this joker couldn't even install a towel rack properly--I had to do it. After the rack fell when I put a towel on it, I was able to see the multiple attempts he had made while trying to drill the holes to mount the rack--this idiot didn't even use anchors in the wall--he used broken pencil as an anchor. Unbelievably unprofessional. That this mope can make a living exploiting the talented Mexican tile person he uses is heartbreaking. After Costas left, our neighbor downstairs reported not having power in her bathroom for days, she said she had told him--of course he never told US. ANOTHER expense we incurred from this clown. Truly a nightmare to have him in our home. So glad he'll never be back. I wouldn't hire him to scrape gum off the floor....he would screw it up. Through the entire job, whenever he screwed up he always claimed "I'm not responsible"....a real POS. The final insult? The guy had a ****** in our apartment, one of the Mexican tradesmen knew her. Mr. Costas came out of our bathroom followed by this woman and was very surprised to see me stopping by the job site , he had clearly been serviced by her. This POS even screws his own family over, he has a wife and young kids--DONT hire this guy.

We have an old house with stucco siding that is starting to crack and have a lot of issues. We hired Costas to patch the cracks and take a look at the roof where we thought there might be flashing missing. He fixed the small roofing issues with no problems, but the true travesty took place when he "fixed" the cracks in the stucco. Instead of using cement, he used tar to fill in the gaps, and was planning on painting over the tar before we stopped him. After he'd applied black tar all over our house, he had the audacity to tell us he was done and the job was complete as per our contract. Of course we were furious at what he'd done and every conversation that we had with him since then he'd tell us something different. From the beginning we knew that patching the stucco was going to be a temporary solution until we could do a more major repair, but he promised us that the patching by him would get us another 10 years before we needed to do that. He now denies that he ever told us that, and has hung up on us when we've called him when we call him out on his dishonesty and poor work. We've since had several contractors who specialize in stucco come out and look at the damage he's done, and all have agreed he was completely clueless and did more damage than good to our house. It was bad enough that he did the work so awfully, but his defensive and belligerent response was so totally unprofessional.

Typical contractor. Made an appointment and the contractor never showed up. Made another appointment, didn't show up again. Gives great lip service.
