Heckeroth charges you $69.00 to come out and assess what the problem is, which is completely reasonable. Then, when they get to your house, they’ll quote you what it will cost to fix it. They’ll almost always quote you a heaping fortune. They quoted me $450.00 to reset a toilet and replace a worn wax ring (this should normally cost about an average of $150.00, give or take a few dollars). I sent them on their way. They did the same thing when I wanted to have a 275 gallon oil tank (that was leaning very slightly) leveled. The oil tank was fine; it just had some light surface rust. It only needed an oil level gauge to be replaced. They urged me to replace the entire tank, or else “suffer an oil spill from the tank falling over.” Instead of leveling the concrete slab underneath it, which would have fixed the issue, they would only agree to install a brand new oil tank for $2,700, where they would’ve had to level the concrete slab anyway. Heckeroth basically trains their plumbers to find something wrong, and then use fear tactics to close the deal. They don’t charge by the hour; they’ll bring a huge price list binder with exorbitant, unreasonable pricing. I’ll never call them again.

Description of Work: Sewage water flowing out of low lying pipe. Plumber insisted on opening septic tank owned & maintained by the town. I called the town, which advised me tank should not be touched by anyone other than town water & sewer dept. plumber was struggling to open tank, said he'd need to break cover a bit to open, refused to stop when I told him to stop in accord with Town order. Finally got him to stop, but he warned me that he'd have to come back, that it could be a big job at high cost. Paid a couple of hundred dollars to Heckeroth. Town came the next day, easily opened tank, fixed problem at no cost.

They tell you what their rates are over the phone which I liked because I knew what to expect. They came in and got the job done and didn't fool around. They were great. I was really happy.
