He did not put any silicone between the cement slabs, only extension joints flashed with the cement slabs supposedly 4 inches thick. With the rain the extension joints got soaked, damaged and the line between the cement slabs became deep. When I asked him to come over and explain how this could be fixed, he found every excuse to tell me that I had not paid for silicone joints, to which I replied that every cement job that I have seen has silicone joints and that silicone joints seem to the standard and the way that every job is done. After many request by text and phone, I left him a message this morning that I needed him to tell me how to fix his cement joints, and that otherwise I would have to look elsewhere for help and information. He called me back, screaming and telling me that I have to pay him to come over, as soon as I started requesting that I need to know what to do, he started insulting me, he told me 3 or 4 times that I was a very /very bad old lady...and I replied that I was going to channel 7 may be they will tell me where I can get help and information's. To everyone out there, never hire him, because if you need him to fix his work later, you will be insulted. He also did a smaller job for me just a little before ,where I'm having some issues with my neighbor, because it is a community driveway and he did the same type of job and the separation of the 2 parts is doing the same thing and it is the hole length of the property. So very bad job and very bad attitude.

After talking with Luca I had new brick steps and half of my back yard recemented. His prices were reasonable and his work was perfect. Being in the construction industry watching him and his men working was impressive. I would recommend home to anyone.

This is my 2nd review on the concrete work that Luca Antonelli did for me, after 1.5 yrs. Two bitter winters passed, and the sidewalk concrete is as good as new! I am so satisfied with the quality of the concrete work, that I recommend Luca Antonelli to anybody who needs to find somebody to do similar jobs. Luca Antonelli Rocks!

I recently had a walkway re-done for a property I manage. Initially, I consulted 5-6 Mason/Concrete contractors. Some guaranteed "competitive pricing", supervision of all onsite work, 1 year guarantee minimum etc. I also consulted Luca Antonelli from Luca Antonelli Contracting. His price "seemed" abit more up-market than what my partners were looking for. That being said, I have used Luca Antonelli in the past for private work. His results were SOLID. This time, however my partners were more concerned with price & regrettably I hired someone else. Making a long story short, that "other" contractor (so-called) operated out of a small van using sub-par equipment & day labor unacquainted with the skill set needed for professional concrete work (eg forms construction, pitch measurements, troweling, edging, broom finishing etc). The job was a total disaster! It was one of those "You Cannot Make This Up" scenarios. Since this was my responsibility, I called in the cavalry & hired Luca Antonelli to re-do the work. My only regret was not hiring him from the outset. Luca showed up with all the requisite equipment needed: Bobcat, Truck, Container to haul crushed stone for the substructure, a mosaic of Finishing Trowels & all the lumber needed for proper "forms" construction. His employees are first rate concrete/mason artisans & work with him for many years. Luca supervised from Start to Finish. The job lasted 1.5 days. I told Luca that "the form work itself was so perfect, it's a shame to remove it". Bottom line, the results were STELLAR!! Professional!! Crisis averted!! Lesson learned!!! So if you ever find yourself in a beef about pricing, please remember my story. At the very least, when you think of hiring a Contractor, see a sample of the Contractors work onsite. Do not be beguiled into a contract by so-called competitive pricing. The quality of the work is at stake & competitive pricing many times equates to low ball pricing & poor results! Experience counts!! Experience actually saves you more later on down the line. This is where Luca Antonelli outperforms. The object lesson for all reading my review can best be summed up in the old axioms: "You Get What You Pay For" & " You Buy Cheap You Buy Twice". I highly recommend Luca Antonelli & would never think twice again!

BEWARE Angie's List members. This guy is not an ethical businessman, and he tried to rip me off. I didn't do the job with this contractor because Luca pulled a bait and switch on me on the day construction was to start, which is ILLEGAL! He scoped out my stoop job himself, gave a quote in line with others I got, we signed a contract, and I paid a deposit. He was a local guy with good reviews, so I thought the job would go well. Then on the day he was supposed to start work, Luca looks at my brick steps again and says that he "made a mistake" when he quoted the job and that he needed to cut the bricks to build my steps--driving up the price by 30 percent! In other words, although he priced the job himself, he tried to drive up the price at the very last minute with a false claim. As all the other guys who priced the job told me, the job just required a smaller brick than the one he wanted to use to make the correct step size. Luka clearly tried to get more money out of me because he was dealing with a woman and just assumed he could rip me off. I resisted his pressure to just go through with the job at the higher price, and I give him credit that he gave me the option to just cancel the job, which I did--and he returned my deposit quickly. But I would never, ever recommend that anyone do business with this man after the way he treated me.
Response from Luca Antonelli Contracting

"In July 2015, [Member Name Removed] from 147-[Member Information Removed] Road, Whitestone, NY called me to replace her front stoop and part of the sidewalk. I knew that she was going to be problematic when she told me that she had problems with many contractors in the past. She made me reword my contract several times. I made a mistake, I should not have signed the contract to do the work for her. I went to review the job a couple of days before starting the work and suggested installing the bricks on the stoop steps vertically because of the unusual height the steps had to be built which required cutting most of the bricks in order for all of the steps to be the same height. I wanted to give her the perfect job. She did not want to pay for the additional cost. I suggested cancelling the contract and returning her deposit which I did. Recently she finally had the work done. My professional opinion is that the work is inferior to the work I would have done for her. The bricks the contractor used on the stoop steps are not smaller unlike what she states in her review. 2 rows of standard size bricks were laid horizontally on each step riser, one row is fully exposed, and the other is partially covered by the step tread stone. It does not look good and it is wrong. In addition, the work is very sloppy. The concrete on the sidewalk was poured against the city tree roots/stump which is ILLEGAL. Forms were not used around the tree. She got the quality of work she paid for. I never did any work for her. I did not cost her any money. This person lied more than once in her comments. The reason for her poor review is only because I would not do the work for the price she wanted to pay. LUCA ANTONELLI CONTRACTING is listed on Angie's List as an A GRADE COMPANY because the customers I have done work for all gave me A GRADES."

Luca Antonelli Contracting did an excellent job for me! They are quick, fast, and very professional. They started the work on the day they promised, and finished it in half a day. I am very satisfied with the quality of the concrete work they did. Definitely will use them again.

Luca was responsive from the outset - he showed up when he said he would to look at the job; then sent me a picture of his work along with the estimate.  Once chosen, he told me he could do the job the following week, and he did complete the project in two days.
His crew and son worked well and efficiently and cleaned up the project as well. The steps look great and Luca was on site both days.  He pointed out a couple of other projects he'd like to do, and when I'm ready I would certainly use him again.
Luca was professional and responded to all questions, and called up afterwards to see what I thought of his work.
I would recommend him highly -  he explained clearly what he was doing, and made sure there were no surprises.
He knows concrete and seems very reliable.  I was surprised he wouldn't guarantee his work, but he explained that the weather might get very cold and could affect his work.

Mr. Antonelli and his crew showed up each morning on time and went straight to work.  This was not an easy job as I have an attached house and everything had to be brought/hauled through the house.  The crew made sure that everything was covered and protected, and when the  work was done for the day they cleaned up so well that the area was cleaner than when they started  :)
As before, this was quality work done quickly.  The job took only 1 1/2 days.  The first day everything was prepped and the forms set.  The second day was pouring and polishing the concrete. As the job proceeded Mr. Antonelli, discussed and suggested options for would make the job more complete.
I would recommend Luca Antonelli Contracting for any job.

The work on my property also included replacing and creating the entire front stairway to the house.
Mr. Antonelli worked with us and offered several options as to materials that could be used.  As he worked he pointed out several other options that would make the job look better.  He was not looking to just add additional cost to the project, just options on how to make the project more esthetically pleasing, as well as, better construction.  i.e.: one wall that was taken down, did not have a footing, (perhaps the reason for it cracking?), so it was suggested that a footing be poured before the wall was replaced.  Also instead of just a cinder-block wall, Mr. Antonelii suggested a brick wall, and he would be able to match the style of the brick used on the house.
He and his crew were always on time, and cleaned up each day.  Even though Mr. Antonelli would leave the work-site from time to time, he was always there to assure the any brick work was done correctly ( as he did most of it).
All in all, I am very happy with the work done and would recommend him to others.  In fact, we are having him come back to do more work.   He does quality work.

Mr. Antonelli did not return my call for about 1 1/2 days. When he did call, I spoke to him for less than 5 minutes. We were making an appointment for him to see the job two days later. When I asked him if he was going to be able to provide me with a written estimate, he told me that he would only give an overall price on the back of a card, presumably, without any detail as to what he would be doing. I told him that I would need a written estimate. It was necessary since the job at my house involved the complete re-doing of a two car paver driveway, the building of a retaining wall with Belgium blocks, the re-doing of a curved walkway up to my house, a new stoop in front of my front door, and a brick paver walkway to the back of my home from the front driveway. It is a job that three other masons had already estimated, would cost five figures. All three of the other masons had provided a detailed written estimate without any problem. Mr. Antonelli's response to my request, however, was: "I don't even want to see the job, because you will be a pain in the a**!" Then he hung up the phone on me.

Maybe it is that Mr. Antonelli didn't want to put in any time in providing a written estimate. Maybe he just was not able to spell well enough to put an estimate of that size, together. Either way, I would not urge others to bother with him. When you are spending a large amount of money, you are entitled to know what work he would be doing, with some detail, just so that there is no misunderstanding and so that you won't be comparing apples to oranges. Mr. Antonelli would not cooperate at all, and, for that reason, it is a waste of time to work with him. He showed no patience, and no business savvy. Pass him up!

Response from Luca Antonelli Contracting

"In response to [Member Name] comment, I returned his call the same day and left him a message. He called me back after 10:00 PM and left a second message. I called him again the next day. He did not know who I was and said that he would have to put me on hold so that he could look for my name in the list of contractors that he had called. I tried to make an appointment for an estimate. While on the phone with him, he changed the day three times because his wife was yelling at him in the background and would not agree with the appointment days. I told him I would give him an estimated price on the back of my business card. He snapped and said, "I will not accept that!" I told him I was not interested in his job. I do give written estimates usually on the next day. I have been in business for 30 years and have a very good reputation. My customers from Angie's List, who I have done work for, have given me A reviews. I have the right to choose who I will work for. [Member Name] will have to choose a different contractor from his long list."

I called him to provide an estimate for concrete sidewalks, driveway, front stairs and patio. Passionate about his job and confident in ability to provide a good service. In the end, we were able to find another contractor who was able to do the job for a little less, so we went with him instead. However, he recently did my neighbor's sidewalk and it looks amazing, so in the future, I would not hesitate to hire him for concrete work.

He came out and what he was quoting was fine but he couldn’t get the permit for me. He was a little high and he couldn’t do the work immediately but the people I finally went with did all of the city permits for me. He was professional, prompt, gave me a reasonable price but couldn’t do the city permit for me which I needed. I thought that his price was a little higher than whom I hired, so it was slightly higher and he couldn’t do everything for me. He came out promptly, explained exactly what I needed but I just thought that it was little more considering I needed a permit.

Great.  Beautifully done.  This is the second time we've brought Mr. Antonelli on to do work, and he is truly an artist.  He replaced several large sidewalk panels and completely replaced our driveway.  He redesigned the layout of the driveway so that it had a more gradual slope up from the street, that it was sloped so drainage was better, and in general looked terrific.  The quality of the concrete he uses is evident.  I was looking at my neighbors concrete and there are stones and bits of gravel showing.  The concrete Mr. Antonelli uses is as smooth as silk.  He and his crew arrived when they said they would, did the work in one day, and cleaned up completely.  I'm so pleased.
