"Hi [Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking the time to give my business a great review. It was truly appreciated. It was a pleasure doing business with you. Thank you, Luca"
"In July 2015, [Member Name Removed] from 147-[Member Information Removed] Road, Whitestone, NY called me to replace her front stoop and part of the sidewalk. I knew that she was going to be problematic when she told me that she had problems with many contractors in the past. She made me reword my contract several times. I made a mistake, I should not have signed the contract to do the work for her. I went to review the job a couple of days before starting the work and suggested installing the bricks on the stoop steps vertically because of the unusual height the steps had to be built which required cutting most of the bricks in order for all of the steps to be the same height. I wanted to give her the perfect job. She did not want to pay for the additional cost. I suggested cancelling the contract and returning her deposit which I did. Recently she finally had the work done. My professional opinion is that the work is inferior to the work I would have done for her. The bricks the contractor used on the stoop steps are not smaller unlike what she states in her review. 2 rows of standard size bricks were laid horizontally on each step riser, one row is fully exposed, and the other is partially covered by the step tread stone. It does not look good and it is wrong. In addition, the work is very sloppy. The concrete on the sidewalk was poured against the city tree roots/stump which is ILLEGAL. Forms were not used around the tree. She got the quality of work she paid for. I never did any work for her. I did not cost her any money. This person lied more than once in her comments. The reason for her poor review is only because I would not do the work for the price she wanted to pay. LUCA ANTONELLI CONTRACTING is listed on Angie's List as an A GRADE COMPANY because the customers I have done work for all gave me A GRADES."

Mr. Antonelli did not return my call for about 1 1/2 days. When he did call, I spoke to him for less than 5 minutes. We were making an appointment for him to see the job two days later. When I asked him if he was going to be able to provide me with a written estimate, he told me that he would only give an overall price on the back of a card, presumably, without any detail as to what he would be doing. I told him that I would need a written estimate. It was necessary since the job at my house involved the complete re-doing of a two car paver driveway, the building of a retaining wall with Belgium blocks, the re-doing of a curved walkway up to my house, a new stoop in front of my front door, and a brick paver walkway to the back of my home from the front driveway. It is a job that three other masons had already estimated, would cost five figures. All three of the other masons had provided a detailed written estimate without any problem. Mr. Antonelli's response to my request, however, was: "I don't even want to see the job, because you will be a pain in the a**!" Then he hung up the phone on me.
Maybe it is that Mr. Antonelli didn't want to put in any time in providing a written estimate. Maybe he just was not able to spell well enough to put an estimate of that size, together. Either way, I would not urge others to bother with him. When you are spending a large amount of money, you are entitled to know what work he would be doing, with some detail, just so that there is no misunderstanding and so that you won't be comparing apples to oranges. Mr. Antonelli would not cooperate at all, and, for that reason, it is a waste of time to work with him. He showed no patience, and no business savvy. Pass him up!
"In response to [Member Name] comment, I returned his call the same day and left him a message. He called me back after 10:00 PM and left a second message. I called him again the next day. He did not know who I was and said that he would have to put me on hold so that he could look for my name in the list of contractors that he had called. I tried to make an appointment for an estimate. While on the phone with him, he changed the day three times because his wife was yelling at him in the background and would not agree with the appointment days. I told him I would give him an estimated price on the back of my business card. He snapped and said, "I will not accept that!" I told him I was not interested in his job. I do give written estimates usually on the next day. I have been in business for 30 years and have a very good reputation. My customers from Angie's List, who I have done work for, have given me A reviews. I have the right to choose who I will work for. [Member Name] will have to choose a different contractor from his long list."
"Thank you for taking the time to give me a great review for the jobs done at your residence. It was greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Luca"
