They were very good. They gave me a fair price and even gave me a discount for being an Angie’s List member. They worked quickly and efficiently. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

I wish I could give a score of C+ or B-. There was good and bad to our experience. We switched from oil heat to gas and needed to replace our oil burner and hot water heater. We purchased our equipment from Sila. Bryan of Sila was an absolute pleasure to work with. The whole process took between 8 and 9 months from inception to finish, but that was due to Con Edison's slow progress and delays. The day we finally got everything hooked up by Sila, I had to go out for a while. When I came home, I noticed a good amount of water pouring out of a part of our roof, near the gutter. I told Bryan about it and he and his guys investigated. Bryan told me there was some sort of leak or problem with the water holding- tank in our attic and they would fix it. I went on about my business, then Bryan told me they were all done; the Sila guys left, and of course I assumed the problem had been fixed. But when I went out again later I saw the water was STILL gushing out of the roof. I immediately called Bryan. He told us someone would come over first thing the next morning to fix it. The next day no one arrived, so I called, and someone at Sila said their guys were all booked up and no one could come until around 2pm. Later I got a call saying someone would be by around 6pm. My husband was really angry that they weren't treating this situation as an emergency. We were losing LOTS of hot water and didn't know what it might be doing to our roof, or if it was going to cause problems with all the water pooling on the ground. After my husband made a very angry call, someone came by, I think around 4 or 5, and resolved the issue. I don't understand how they could have left the job that day without being sure the leak was fixed. Water poured out for about 24 hours. By the way, about 2 weeks later we were having our gutters cleaned and inspected, and were told that our gutters were in good shape, EXCEPT where the water and been pouring out from the tank. There the wood has rotted and we will need to make repairs. I don't enjoy giving this bad report because I like Bryan. Everything was OK with the job until the end. But it was very upsetting that the situation was allowed to continue all night through the next day rather than being treated as urgent, so I must report this.

The guy gave us a misstatement that the flue was blocked, it wasn't it was just a small flue. Other than that it turned out well.

After two cancelled appointments the service personal that showed up did so timely and professionaly. He got the unit running well in less than two hours. Tried to sell some additional services for maintainence. I would hire them again.has been working well since. The maintainence seemed a little expensive so I did not purchase the offered contract.

Dennis is very polite, professional, he checked every spot and clean them for me. He pointed out all the things I need to know and made recommendations. I highly recommend him and will use his service again.

It was preventive maintenance deal

It was fine. We got them through Angie's list and we purchased the big deal. It was a great price. They came right on the scheduled time.

The service technocian arrived on time as promised; he asked the appropriate questions about recent service and any parts replacement done in the past. He cleaned the boiler and drained/bled the water tank; checked the switches and thermostat operation. he was careful to be clean in the house and courteous overall.

A fairly young technician arrived prepared only to service my air conditioning, but not also the heating as I had requested on the phone. He did the service, but in the course of it did something that made one of my thermostats, which had been functioning perfectly, no longer work. He said that he thought my thermostat was broken and told me I should order a new one myeslf, and left me without working heat or air conditioning in my master bedroom. Also, the guy said he would come back with a filter that the air conditioning still needed and I never heard from him again. I later had to hire a different company to fix the thermostat problem caused by the guy from Sila.

I was easily able to make an appointment when I called. The technician showed up near the beginning of the appointment window (always appreciated) and did a good job of explaining what he was doing. He added coolant to my system for free. The only hiccup was that the technician did not know that the cover had to be on my compressor for it to work. He was able to call his manager to figure that out before recommending any unnecessary repairs.

The first technician showed up without the proper tools to perform the service so I had to reschedule. I have a HVAC system and he came prepared to service a boiler. Silas had been out to service the same unit for AC so should have had the right info; they did not ask when I phoned for an appointment. The second technician was very helpful. The work required was very minimal but as I am a new home owner he was able to clearly explain how my heating system works. It's actually driven by the hot water heater! He offered to get me a quote for a servicing plan but never followed through.

Overall experience was very positive. Team was professional. Explained what needed to be done. Developed a timeline for the project and completed most of the agreed to work on time and on budget. A few items were left unfinished and I got some of those items taken care of by someone else.

My experience started out a little rocky with scheduling difficulties and a little misinformation; however, once I was able to reach the right person, his sense of customer satisfaction and fairness has won me over completely for Sila. Technicians are just as important and the one I have had on the two occassions SIla has serviced our A/C units have been very good experiences. He was thorough, immaculate in his care of the cleanliness of my house, and explained as much as he could to me about the problems I was experiencing, as well as why he needed to come back. He clearly wanted to do a good job and wanted me to be happy with the service when he left. To Chris and Dennis, I say thank you.

The experience we had with the service person who came out was great. He was very thorough and helpful, and he even went out of his way to address a problem we were having with our system (he took down the part number to check to see if it was still under warranty). The problem arose when Sila gave us a quote to have the warrantied repairs done. When they called with a quote, they gave us one price, and we said we'd call back in a few days to schedule service. When we called back a few days later, someone else gave us a different quote not knowing that we'd already been told a quote, and we were quoted a price $350 higher. Then a day later when we called again, the quote went up another $400 beyond the second quote! We have called 3 other HVAC companies and without knowing our quote from Sila, each has come in well below the first quote ($900 LESS than the 3rd quote from Sila!!) The fact that their price changed so much and so quickly leads us to believe that they are not very honest or up front about their prices and we will not be using them to perform any service in the future. UPDATE: Sila contacted us and made every effort to make the situation right. They ended up doing the required work for less than the original quote they had given us. We were very impressed with how responsive they were to our problem and how willing they were to work with us to correct their error.

excellent service-- I got them off Angie's list. They contacted me right away and it was easy to set up the appointment for annaul maintenance on my nat. gas furnace.

Their service was good. They came on time, did what they were supposed to do, and did the job cleanly.

Technician came as scheduled and performed service routine; was polite and professional. He noted that AC filters needed changing and offered to replace them for a moderate fee (think it was something like 75-100), which I would have done, but it turns out he did not have the correct filter in his van. Just as well - I am a bit of a DIYer and so I found matching filters online at a much lower price and replaced them myself a couple days later. Technician also noted that our distribution system was very old and the duct work in pretty terrible shape - implication being that we should really rip it all out and start over. These observations are all probably quite fair & valid, but as we are planning a more major renovation in the not-too-distant future, updating this HVAC system did not make sense so we deferred that discussion.

The story beginning to end is that everyone from the Account Rep to the installers arrived on time, as promised and completed the job within the time frame I requested. The Account Rep came to inspect the house. He said installing their system would be no problem. He provided a quote and we set up the installation for a date several weeks later. The only confusion I had was in the electrical work that needed to be done. They apparently do have their own electricians but that didn't work out for me and I used my own. It wasn't a problem as it turned out. Just a little more work on my part. They are very clear about how the job will progress. They promised installation within a week's window and they completed the job within that time frame. The air conditioning system works well. I would recommend this service to anyone who asks. A friend of mine also installed central air using this company and was equally pleased with the results.

As I noted above, the process was probably unnecessarily prolonged because the service rep didn't recognize the problem initially. On the plus side we were charged only for the first service call.

Everything went well. The representative was very professional. He explained everything that he did. Also gave me a few pointers so that my AC would run well. He was also careful not to track any dirt into the house.

The technician who came arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and left our A/C system in tip-top shape. We were very pleased and would hire them again.
