Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

Very courteous. Showed up on time as expected. Quickly identified and addressed problems. Very good overall experience. I did ask for some follow up information on an overflow pan replacement which I did not receive. But since everything has functioned well without it, I did not follow up further.

After purchasing a Big Deal I contacted SILA and had no problem setting up the appointment. The technician was prompt and courteous and did a thorough job inspecting the system (both the attic unit and outside unit).

I was disappointed with them. When we have had repair men come previously, they come and deal with the house, and then they charge us appropriately, they gave us a price in advance. We make a list of things for the air conditioning and then we have extra units in the wall in the basement, so the previous people have charged us accordingly. Sila came and said that those were two separate things and they have to make a second visit to do it. So the next year when we called them, my husband specifically told them that we had the whole house air conditioning, and we had the basement units, so they had to put all these in their planning, for the time annd whatever else. So they give you a time frame and you have to wait for them, so the guy comes and says that we would have to reschedule and we should do this and this to improve our air conditioning. He also said that somebody would call to make an appointment. They called to make the appointment, for the additional work, which we didn't set up, but they didn't call to make an appointment for the basement units. This was the second year, and you could say that they could have missed it in the first year, and we had to use the deal a different way. But we called them a second time, and the guy said he couldn't do it, I thought that didn't warrant an ''A'' listing. We had used a big deal for the service. I am not complaining about the price, or even about paying separately, it was manipulation. When the guy came the second time, and I told him about the year before, he said he couldn't do anything about it that day, and he would have someone call us. We didn't get a call back until the next week, but it wasn't for the basement, it was for the additional work. They came on time, but we had explained to them in their terminology that there were 2 systems, and they didn't come to do the whole job. After our two appointments, they continually sent us bills, some of which came via certified mail! We provided proof of payment, sending them copies of the voided checks. I took months for them to resolve their billing error. Throughout the ordeal, they were rude and unproffesional. When we went up to our attic, I found parts of our A/C unit left all over. Finally, we did recieve in the mail a letter stating that it was a mistake on their part, but never got an apology.

There were some issues with the scheduling. First they cancelled the day of the appointment. Then I cancelled on them. Then they moved the third appointment. But once we finally got together on a time, it couldn't have gone better. The service technician was excellent; knowledgable, professional and tidy. What more could you ask for? I think the scheduling issue was a one-off and I plan to use Silas for future service on my central air system.

Dennis has been my serviceman for several years now and is extremely competent and efficient. I have been with this company for over 10 years and can highly recommend them especially for challenging jobs.

We needed an emergency repair to our HVAC unit in our condo. When we came home on Friday night, the unit had shut off. We both work full time and have indoor pets. We needed to have it repaired quickly before the really hot summer weather began. Unfortunately, since it shut off on Friday night, we had to try and find an emergency repair service that Saturday. I called a few services and they were either already booked or didn't offer weekend service if you weren't already a customer. Sila called me back quickly. They were able to send someone out who was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about an hour. They were professional.

It went well. They were prompt and they were successful at what they did. The staff is fine and I've had them here many times. Every year I have them.

I felt it was basically unprofessional. The estimate was extremely high as compared with others. When I asked Brian if there were any discounts such as a senior discount, I was told that he could not answer that question until I committed to using his service. I don't deal in unknowns I felt as though I was being taken advantage of. Also his estimate read that part of the job was to remove the hot water heater (which was never part of my request) and when I asked if that was part of the estimate, he answered "NO," That that was simply a mistake.. The boiler that he offered was the exact same boiler that I had installed for $4000 less than his estimate.. I would say, somewhere there is a discrepancy. Customers beware,.

Very helpful, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Definitely recommend them - I probably could have saved some money elsewhere but they were prompt and clearly explained everything. Job well done.

At the time of service they were known as Unique Indoor Comfort. I responded to a special free boiler maintenance check from Angie's List. I regret not singing their praises earlier. They came exactly when they said they would and performed a heat maintenance on our then 13 year old boiler. He walked me through the system and answered my questions fully. He was interested in parts of the system that were different than he might have expected. His write-up of the service call was detailed and fully legible. The technicians name is written clearly on the top of the service slip.. Very soon after this free service, I received in the mail a letter thanking me for my business and that if i wasn't 100% satisfied that I should call him, Chris McGuire, the general manager. Then later when they changed their name to Sila I again received a letter from Mr. McGuire, thanking me for my business and sharing their mission statement. I have never received this kind of service and attention to retaining a customer and I have paid them nothing so far! This is a business who is truly dedicated to their customers. Our boiler has worked beautifully after their maintenance and so we have not needed their service. But there is no question as to who I will call when I need it.

First, I used $79 Angieslist coupon for A/C service at which time they installed an incorrectly sized filter. I was told that I would be contacted shortly to have it taken care of. At the same time they clipped me $100 to diagnose that my uninsulated ducts were causing significant condensation which I already knew. I was willing to pay for whatever it was that needed to be done. The tech told me that he did not see a way this can be insulated. This was about two months ago. After not hearing anything back from them (except mailers) I e-mailed whom I was hoping would be the owner. The local branch called me to apologize and a that a tech would be able to insulate the duct, patch the hole and install the right sized A/C filter for $599. The same tech shows up at 1:25pm on Monday and instantly remembers that it is impossible to insulate the ducts. I told him to just patch the hole and replace filter. AFTER he was done, at 2:05, he asked me if I knew that he was going to charge me $250 for a minimum of 1-hour labor. I asked him to call his office to have it reduced. They reluctantly got $200 from me. Will never use them again nor refer anyone.

Excellent and very professional technical service. Technician was right on time and performed a thorough inspection of the a/c unit. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and arranged a prompt follow visit with the owner of the company on my request for a detailed quote on improving the equipment. Unfortunately, the sales representative did not respond with an acceptable quote to upgrade the equipment. I had a very good initial experience with the technical service but the sales service was not acceptable.

Prompt response for request for appointment for full AC install in older house. Stephen Martinez scheduled a second appointment one week later to review quote; he no showed, no called. No bid was ever received.

The service was performed in a timely and professional manner.

Unfortunately, if you think you are going to have a comfortably cool home during a heat wave with Sila's AC system - FORGET IT! Anyone considering installing central AC should be aware (according to Sila's contract) that when there is an outside temperature of 95 degrees, you can expect a performance of 20 degrees (+ or - 2 degrees) cooler than the outside temperature with their system. That means when the temperature is 95 degrees outside, your system (at best) will deliver 73 degrees inside and (at worst) will deliver 77 degrees. Our newly installed system for which we spent over $22K for a 1,600 square foot home, delivered 78 degrees inside temperature when the outside temperature was 96 degrees (please notice that this is 'acceptable' according to Sila's contract). We were told that the system was operating as expected by the serviceman. I wasn't aware until now that results likely will be worse as the temperature climbs. Unfortunately, we previously had better inside temperatures with multiple low cost window units (both cheaper and better performance). Honestly, we never would have purchased this costly system had we been made aware of the upper limit of the system's performance. Don't wait for the next heat wave (with global warming) to find out about the very bad cost/benefit ratio of this system. Stick with window units. They provide much better spot cooling (better for energy and cost conservation) and if you use all window units at once with outside air to the house shut out, you'll surprisingly be more comfortable and cooler than with their system.

Everything went very well. The technician arrived on time. He diagnosed the boiler and cleaned it. The unit was defective, and it still is. But the technician did his best. I recommend this company for their excellent service.

The service was fine but they can't get the billing right. The filter needed to be replaced and they didn't have it with them on the initial call. The charge to replace the filter was $90 plus tax. I told them I would replace the filter myself and ordered it from Amazon at less than half the price. They called me three time to say they had the filter and wanted to make an appointment to do the work. I told them three times that I had replaced the filter myself. When they sent the bill it included the $90 for the filter replacement. I am waiting for a corrected bill My advice to all is to review the billing invoice when it arrives to make sure it is corrct

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service and it was okay. It was not that great; they did not do a fabulous job. I recently had my air conditioner serviced by another company and they said Sila had not cleaned the air conditioner coil. Apparently, that leads to it not running as well. They came out quickly after I purchased the Big Deal but I would not refer them.

I've tried calling these guys on five separate occasions. Get voicemail every time. Left a message - no one called me back. Hard to believe they have this many happy customers when they can't be reached.

They were great. Everything is working fine and so it worked out perfect. We had purchased a big deal but we had to pay more and then we took an annual contract. They were very nice, I have no complaints. They called me but it took them a while to get here because they were very busy. They were on time when they came in, but they tried to cancel.

He was great. He was very patient and explained everything to us. We are new homeowners and this was our first time turning on the central air. He took his time and explained everything to us. Explaining things to look out for, and making sure we were completely comfortable with the system. We will definitely invest in the semi yearly maintenance.

It was fine. We ended up having to pay over $500 extra because the coolant was low in the condenser. So how that wasn't identified in the past, I don't know. I can't imagine it just went down that quickly. They had come out previously in the past. They seem very professional and they are prompt. What they're very good at doing is telling you upfront what they plan to do and what the cost is and how it could change and if it does change they tell you right away which is important to a consumer. They didn't tell me anything about a hole or suggest there could be a hole and they've been, they weren't here last year, but they were here two years ago. But I couldn't go through 5 gallons of freon in two years without it being low. So I really don't know what to make of that issue so it's hard for me to grade them accurately. But they certainly didn't given me any indication that it could be a leak. So on that issue it's hard for me to grade fairly.
