Sila Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

Sila was a pleasure to work with from the start. After I made the initial inquiry, Sila got back to me promptly to schedule someone to come over to give an estimate. Marco showed up on time for the appointment. He was very courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. Before he gave any kind of estimate he very thoroughly inspected our existing HVAC system and took measurements of all the rooms in order to ensure that we would get properly sized furnace and AC. After Marco gathered all his info, he showed me his recommendations and thoroughly explained his reasoning for each one. As a first time homeowner and first time shopping for anything HVAC-related I had many questions and concerns and Marco patiently answered everything I threw at him. He was able to customize a package with higher efficiency units for a competitive price compared to other estimates I received. The work started soon after. The installers were all friendly and courteous. When walking through the house they put on plastic shoe covers to protect my hardwood floors which I appreciated (and didn't even have to ask them to do!). The work ran longer than expected but not Sila's fault, my old furnace was ancient and a pain to remove. Installers came back the next day to finish the work. At some point there were 5 tech's at my house working on different aspects of the job. Marco was in constant contact with me through the whole process, and even afterward when he took care of all the paperwork. My wife and I really appreciated the level of service Marco and Sila provided. We would definitely use them again.

I wanted a quotation to replace the Air Conditioning units at our rental property. Even though they could visit the property, SILA refused to work with us because they couldn't meet us "in person". I even asked for them to them to check with management because this didn't seem to make sense. They confirmed unless they could meet us "in person" they would be able to help us.

They called the day before at 5:30 pm to tell me my appointment I had for 2 days is cancelled because the tech, "wanted to take the day off". Now I have to try and find someone at 5:30, the day before...on the beginning of a holiday weekend, for my tenant that does not having working AC....Thanks a bunch guys.

A representative visited our home to provide an estimate for central air installation with no previous ductwork. He was on-time, knowledgeable, and indicated that we would hear from him to fine tune our options and provide an estimate in 2 business days. We did not hear from them again until 2 weeks later by which time we had already moved forward with another contractor.

I thought $214. was very expensive since no work was done

Steve called to say he would be ten to fifteen minutes late (which was appreciated), and he and he and the (helper) associate were courteous, respectful of property and efficiently went about their work. They explained what they were doing and why. They were neat.

THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF. SILA said that the A/C "pan" was leaking, that it was all rusted, and that they would check suppliers to see if they could find a new one. They called me 5 days later to tell me that the part wasn't available anywhere because it was so old, that I needed a complete new system, which "would run about $14,000.00" !!! Meanwhile I had called another company to give me an estimate as well; that company inspected the unit, gave me an estimate, and made an appointment to do the repair- - all within 3 days. The other company (Solvit) said that the pan was fine, and showed it to me. It is aluminum and never rusts. SOLVIT actually fixed the leak then and there for $153.89. The pan had gotten out of alignment and water ran off; once it was reassembled, all was well. They asked me if the A/C was functioning up-to-par, I said no.They said that they noticed that a coil was leaking refrigerant; they showed it to me, exactly where that was happening, and told me that I should replace the coil with a new coil, then the system should be good for another 20 years.

Gave good options on the system, and everything works great.

Their specialty is old homes. They had excellent reviews on Angie's List. If you have an old home and you want to put in a central heating and air conditioning because they do both, I didn't have the heating put in so I probably shouldn't speak about that, but if you want to have a central air conditioning put in, they are probably, based on my experience and reviews, are the best company for it. They're specializing in an area, most companies that do central air conditioning are not focused on old homes. We went for the system that was designed for the whole house and it was a cheaper system than individualized units. They're an A company. I had a beef about something and the manager called me up and personally, that guy Chris you're talking about, he called me up and said "Mr Hunter" and I said "What is it that I can help you with?" and he said "You're taken care tomorrow." They were definitely on time. I'll absolutely use them again. To put a special thing out, there's a guy named Kyle. I don't remember his last name, let's say Kyle the service manager--he was fantastic. Kyle is a young man heading in the right direction. With a little luck, he's gonna own his own company one day. I would recommend to anyone who's looking though the store for central air conditioning units to the whole home, if they can afford the individual units--it was just so much more expensive for us, it would add about $67,000 to my bill--but what I would prefer to do is the other individual units.

Their website lists several services - including water heaters and tankless water heaters. Only after calling and talking with operator was told they don't perform those services.

I want to commend the company: Sila, Heating & Air Conditioning for installing and replacing my aged furnace with a new Oil Fired Hot Water Boiler on April 2014. Many workers were involved with the project with courtesy, punctuality and an excellent workmanship, yet I want to particularly commend here, Kyle Morrell, Forman of the project. He supervised all the technicians while at work and he came for every follow-up by my call after the installation. Most recently, I called and asked for follow-up to check the wiring for my existed air compressor and roof ridge fan, for the boiler and air-conditioning are controlled by two thermostats which were installed and replaced anew in the project. He made every visit at the exact time I was appointed and had done the work with great courtesy to my very satisfaction. Thank you very much to you Kyle.

My air conditioning unit is leaking condensate in my attic. I called Sila because they had an excellent Angies rating, serviced the county I live in (Westchester) and had Saturday hours. I called them, explained my problem and they gave me an appointment for later the same afternoon. They said that they would call me back when the service technician was on his way to my home. About an hour later I got a call back saying that they wouldn't be able to honor my appointment because they don't service the town where I live. This was VERY disappointing. They should clarify their Angies add to indicate that they only service portions of Westchester County.

I wasnt able to get the services completed because I needed an outside unit but the service provider was great and was very responsive.

Outstanding. The technician, Noel, was highly professional, pleasant, and courteous. He fully explained everything he was doing, and he performed his tasks efficiently. He was neat--used booties over his shoes so as not to track dirt into our home. We would welcome him back anytime. In fact we would request him specifically in the future.

Marco was very professional. He came to our house, checked out all the details and explained what he thought would be the best for us. Unfortunately we are looking primarily central heating instead of air conditioning. If I had enough money to install both heat and air conditioning, I would definite choose Sila.

From dealing with the sales rep through to the actual installation everything went well and I was pleased with my experience.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it went well; I had no complaints. They did a good job and did excellent work. They were very respectful and polite. His quality was very good.

The tech's were on time, completed the job as described in the contract. As a result of their professionalism we cancelled a maintenance contract with another company we had used for 12 years. Not only are they always on time they take care of our home when doing all work by wearing paper butties over their shoes every time they enter the house. We couldn't be more pleased with Sila and recommend them highly to anyone in need of replacement or service

We are in process of obtaining quotes to install central air in our home via Angieslist. We have done research with different systems and understand the price inherit with deciding to go with the Sila System We want the best for our 1932 home and noticed that Sila has many positive reviews. To make a long story short we called the service rep try to arrange a time to have a project manager come out. Unfortunately, when I spoke with the rep on the phone he was very abrupt and honestly rather rude asking immediately if we could or would be willing to spend a minimum of $24,000. He asked where we live but not the specific address and had the impression it was to see what income bracket I might be in.To me this is an incredibly tacky approach to treating an initial inquiry. I was willing to overlook this but the rep started repeating everything I said incorrectly and was again extremely abrupt. I am not sure if anyone has had a similar experience but obviously we we're disappointed.

They did install the heat pump on the 2nd and 3rd floor of our 100 + years old house in the end of Dec 2012 and they did an excellent job but there was a little bit of confusion with the town permit. They resolved the papers issue and closed the permit in April 2013. Overall I am happy with their work and I am planning to use them again.

This was the first time that I had used the company. I don’t recall there being any additional costs beyond the cost of the deal. As far as for their servicing of the system, it was fine. They did what they needed to do. After they completed the deal, I had them come back on an annual contract for a couple of years. Scheduling appointments with them was pretty good. However, it was a little expensive and I discontinued the service. I would have them come back for potential servicing. I would not have them come back for any repairs as they are expensive for repairs or any other kind of work.

We were very pleased with the service and professionalism from Sila from the beginning to the end of our experience. We felt the rep clearly walked through the best system for our old house that would be the least disruptive or intrusive, with high velocity upstairs and mini splits below. The installation went very smoothly and on schedule - we didn't require any paint or touch ups when everything was in. The only thing I wish was that the mini splits could be run off of a thermostat, rather than with remotes, but that may be an additional upgrade. All in all, we would definitely use Sila again for our other HVAC needs.

What can I say. They were speedy and tidy. Everything was as predicted. They provided good and timely information as the install proceeded about challenging aspects of the home they were encountering and the problem solving around it. The system, while not silent, makes very little noise, much less than the window units it replaced. We lived through 5 years in the home with window AC units and thought we couldn't do central AC in our home. Now we think it was the best money we ever spent on our home. Sila was wonderful start to finish.

They showed up when they said they would and were professional. They pointed out that we were low on Freon in our older unit and that we'd need to refill that as soon as possible. Turns out they were more than correct b/c shortly after that our unit died and we had to have it replaced.

Service and professionalism was very good. However, they charge for an estimate. This wouldn't be a problem if they put the charge towards your bill and their estimate wasn't outrageous. I ended up fixing the problem myself for $5 instead of paying Sila $1,000. I will not be using this company again.
