Matthew came over and gave me an estimate which was much more to my liking than another company. We set a date and he and his brother arrived on time and did the work in a very professional, polite, and focused manner. The bedroom was almost done on the first day (even though we had thought that it might require 2 days). So we negotiated another price for them to paint my Kitchen and Bathroom the next day. Voila! 3 rooms in 2 days for less than I was originally quoted for one room. And, these guys were totally delightful to work with and have around. I felt like I could trust having them around my home and was very well taken care of. They didn't nickel and dime me when I changed my mind about not staying with the original color or not (when they would have been well within their rights to do so), or whether I wanted the picture nails removed and plastered over at the last minute. I would definitely use them again and I will be recommending them to all my friends.

The work turned out to be great. We had been waiting a long time for someone to come and help us with the wall we had been having problems with. This guy totally fixed it. He did a great job and he is really nice. He had to plaster a wall for us and it was a long job, he was here for good six to seven hours. It took him a while but he did great work. He cleaned after himself. He just did very good work. We were very happy with it. We would absolutely use his services again in the future.

Matthew did an excellent job in repairing the ceiling that was damaged by water. You could never tell there was a problem with it. He also painted the entire room and it looks great. I would recommend him to anyone.

He gave a very good presentation but his price was a little high. He seems like he would do great work.

I first contacted Matthew during the fall of 2010 to provide me with both an estimate to paint and patch and an estimate to skimcoat a recently purchased one bedroom in Chelsea. He arrived punctually, took a look, and explained the difference between the two approaches to me. A few days later, as promised, he emailed me an estimate. I was impressed enough by his demeanor and practical knowledge, that I kept tabs with him as other renovations in the apartment delayed the painting and plaster repair. When it was time to go ahead, Matthew stuck to the original quote and showed great patience in dealing with further delays caused by the other renovation. He proved to be very flexible and accommodating during an otherwise stress inducing renovation. Once he had the green light, he completed the job expeditiously and without need for any oversight. The plaster work really smoothed out a number of cracks and one large blister on the walls and ceilings. I do recommend Matthew to anyone looking for paint and/or plaster work and would certainly use him again myself if need arose.

He was prompt in responding to my phone calls/emails and gave us an estimate right away. He was reliable, extremely courteous, pleasant and provided excellent quality of work. I would recommend him without reservation.

Matthew was great to work with. He stayed in touch leading up to and through out the job, so I was never left in the dark. He was always punctual and cleaned up the room each day before he left. I had estimates, one of which was for less money and shorter duration of work. I have no doubt the less expensive estimate would have been a rushed job of lower quality. Matthew allowed time during the job for things (plaster, primer, paint, etc) to dry and cure, etc. He's also very good at what he does, and takes the time needed to do it right. I'm very happy with the results and would definitely work with Matthew again.

My experience with the estimator was very good. He was a good guy. He was actually busy and so he wasn?t able to do it in the time frame that I needed it done. He wasn?t available till almost December or late November. My job was going to take about two weeks. He wasn?t pushy. He was terrific. He was excellent overall. He was very concise, nice and he seemed like a decent person. Everything about him was great. If I could use him, then I would definitely use his services in the future.

Great! Mr. Hartmann found and repaired problems we didn't even know were there, without additional charge! He came every day, on time, put up plastic to keep plaster dust under control, finished when he said he would and cleaned up completely. 4 days from start to finish. The finished job was first rate--no "bleed through" from the water damage, crisp edges for the painting. Personable, courteous, knowledgable and reliable. What more can you ask for? I recommend him highly!

Excellent experience. Matthew is very accommodating, punctual, personable, professional and has great attention to detail in his work. He was very flexible and willing to do other small odd jobs for us at no additional cost. He does great clean up at the end of each day and is very good with children in the house. We will definitely be working with him again.

I haven't followed through with anybody yet. He was very professional and was very good at communicating.

Mr. Hartman visited first to assess for the estimate and in the estimate he gave us various scenarios that would affect price points, including for the extent to which we wanted pre-existing plaster flaws eliminated or left be. He remained in phone communication until a date to do the work was a settled upon (actually resettled upon when we had to reschedule one time from his side), and he rode with me down to the wire on the journey of color choices. Although we have more work needed in a hallway (he gave us estimates for that work), our priority was a small bathroom which is the work he's done for us so far. Matthew Hartmann was professional and we were flexible with each other in setting up date the work would be done.

We chose Matthew Hartmann Plastering because he would also paint the areas he plastered. His price was very good, a bit lower than the other plasterers we consulted, but still fair. He responded promptly & communicated professionally. He negotiated fairly and without drama when we proposed adding items to the agreement; the prices he gave us for the add-on work were completely in line with his original pricing structure. And fortunately he was able to add them without having to change his schedule. Matthew and his teammate/brother set up quickly and made good progress on Day One. Then we had a big gap in the middle of the job because the baby Matthew & his wife were expecting came early. He kept in very close contact, and sent his his brother over to tackle what parts of the job he could handle without Matthew. He resume work quite quickly, we thought, and finished us up very promptly. We were very happy with his professionalism during that gap in progress, and we never for a moment felt abandoned. He did a fine job protecting things from plaster dust or paint as well, and was pleasant to have working in our home. We would certainly recommend Matthew Hartmann Plastering, and would absolutely work with him again should we need plastering.

Matt was timely getting back to me about the work needed and looking at the apartment. He was extremely helpful and professional during all aspects of the job - paint choice, work needed, work options. He completed the job quickly despite the fact that his helper called in sick. I was out for most of the second day of work and arrived home to a transformed room. He left the room perfectly clean. I don't know how his prices compare to other painters, but I felt like he really knew what he was doing and that I could rely on him to complete the job well and without any headaches. I was right. I am having him plaster and paint the rest of my apartment.

He was very knowledgeable. His estimate was detailed and reasonable. He had had a cancellation in his schedule for three days the following week, which was perfect for us. Matthew removed the loose plaster, taped cracks, and applied fiberglass mesh to the walls and ceiling. He then applied three coats of plaster, polishing between coats. We had expected the apartment to be a bit of a mess during this process because of the dust?etc. Mathew used plastic at the bathroom door and vacuumed each day. There was no dust in the rest of the apartment. Once the plastering was completed, he applied an oil base under coat to the walls and ceiling and then painted the bathroom including the woodwork and door. Mathew also repaired some grouting on the tile wall of the bathtub and recaulked the tub. He then painted the ceiling, walls and woodwork and window-frame and door. The bathroom is completely restored. He did a beautiful job! He completed the work within the agreed upon time?and left the place spotless.

He was great. The work was very well done. He addressed any concerns or requests immediately. We will be using him again in the future.

Came promptly and was polite and friendly. Work took 2 days, with his brother assisting on the second day. Work done neatly with a fair amount of attention to detail. Cleaned up work area and neatly stored a small amount of equipment in the room overnight. Accidentally broke a window pane, and replaced it that day, at no extra charge. We provided paint (wall was different color than remainder of painting) and hardware (handles). He installed all hardware. Painting was done well, but not excellently. No complaints.

Very well, indeed! Matt was always on the job himself, and handled a tricky time when we were often out of town.

I thought he do did a good job. He was very fair and reliable. I would recommend him to others and I would also used the service again if I needed some plaster work done.

The work went very well. I was able to reach Matt on his cell phone and we scheduled the work to go around his larger jobs. He came when he promised, did the work, showed a great deal of care in his work and finished up promptly and cleanly. The job cost a little more because of the additional painting of the hallway, but I was very satisfied with his work.

He really worked with me to matching colors even if took repainting. He was much more accommodating that I would have expected. He was very professional and respectful. He performed high quality work and I would use him again.
