Since its founding in 2008 by Chris and Larry Kendall, Greenwich Handyman Inc. has become Fairfield and Westchester Counties most trusted and recommended home improvement contractor. I was frustrated because the first time they came out to review the work, I took the morning off to make sure I could walk him through all of the jobs. It took at least an hour to do because there were so many small jobs that needed explaining. Also - in advance and during that time I and the person who came took pictures so that they would know what needs to be done. But then when they scheduled a second appointment a different person came and asked me to explain everything again. I was quite frustrated and when I conveyed my frustration the response was a simple "well then maybe you need to hire someone else". Not very professional and not someone I would want working in my house.

Description of Work: I engaged Greenwich Handyman to help me hang several mirrors and pictures and change some light bulbs that I could not reach without a ladder. The guys were on time, efficient, methodical and very pleasant, and the work was done perfectly. I hire GH all the time for these types of jobs, because they do good work and are reliable, but I do have to note that they are generally more expensive than other providers in the area.

Greenwich Handyman did a great job! They built up the base of the door frame. They diligently removed the door 4 times until it was right! What a difference. Our living room is no longer drafty.
Description of Work: Our front door was very drafty. Causing the living room to be very cold. We priced out to have the door replaced. But the cost was between $3,000 to $4,500. Greenwich Handyman was the only vendor you had another solution! They suggested that they build up the base of the door frame and insulate around the door.

Description of Work: I had the workman reattach a step at the entrance to my walkout basement which is the entrance to my child care, which he did. I asked him to install a small railing next to the step. He did that and left, however the door wouldn't close because the railing was blocking it. I had to call and have them come back. The worker removed the railing and told me he couldn't do it and left. I paid for two workers for one hour (a total of two hours). One guy worked about 30 minutes. The other one stood outside and didn't do anything except go to the truck 2x. I felt like I was ripped off. This is the only purchase I've made from Angie's list and I don't plan on using it again. It was a lousy experience.

Their costs caused me almost faint. Way more expensive on everything. Example. $600 to repair a loose slate step. I had a veteran mason do it for $200. Took less than an hour. $6000 or more to sand a finish deck. Yes $6000.

Didn't go so well. The demo crew showed up when they were suppose to but rather than just evaluate the ceiling and replace/repair what was necessary to do the 2 men, who were not extremely fluent in English, started demo on the entire ceiling. When the supervisor arrived much later in the afternoon he nearly flipped his wig because apparently they were specifically told to only remove what was necessary ~ as I don't speak any Spanish I didn't have any way to communicate with them as they did the work. The work order sheet I had in my hand stated clearly, "demo ceiling". After tearing down the ceiling and 2 walls, they said to me, "you'll have to use your other bathroom." What other bathroom? I have only 1! What was suppose to be a 3 day job turned into a 3 week nightmare as I was unable to take more time off of work and they were limited to the hours I could be there. The mess was unbelievable and beyond anything you might have planned for. While Greenwich Handyman did do their best after the fact they were hard to reach and had nothing more to say other than something like, "wow, we should have paid more attention to make sure he understood what to do." I really do have to say that they worked hard to make it right after the disaster of the start but ultimately no, I can't recommend them without reservation. The crews they sent in after the demo crew were all wonderful.
Description of Work: I used them a couple of years ago to repair a ceiling and wall that had been damaged by water.

The guy they sent was totally professional. Getting through to Greenwich Handyman was difficult. No onewas returning calls. We tried to use them again and once again no one returned my call. This time I didn't try again. This was a while ago. I don't remember the exact date but believe it was 2013.

Each time they came I had a punch list of things to fix around my home. They were all done perfectly. The workers were very nice and did a great work. Finally people that know what they are doing!!!!!!
Description of Work: Greenwich Handyman has been to my home at different times to fix various things. I have been extremely pleased and have and will recommended them to other friends. They came when they said and their workmanship was top notch. I thought that the price was fair and I will continue to use them. Glad to finally find reliable people to work with!!!!

I'm sorry but we must respectfully disagree. While your first email was mistakenly put in our junk email, we subsequently had a number of emails back and forth, exchanged pictures and ideas for fixes, provided an estimate, revised that same estimate according to your instructions and answered a number of questions regarding the revised estimate. We also explained that the work not included on the estimate was to be done on a time and materials basis. The only item we had an issue with was the "header" described in your client's email. We were unsure about what he was describing and asked for pictures. We received two pictures, neither of which were for the header. We then responded to your client 8/4 asking when we could come and look at the items on his list because we could not tell from the pictures what he needed. We received a response from him on Friday 8/8 asking us only to add two additional items to the quote, which we were working on pricing for you (power washing and gouges in the hardwood floor). We also received an email back from you 8/9 thanking us for staying on top of the roofers and apparently understanding how exhausting it can be to procure estimates. "It's exhausting, isn't it? Thanks for staying on top of it." I'm not sure where the breakdown in communication was, but we are more than happy to complete the estimate and the work. The only reason we haven't offered a time and date is because we don't have an approved estimate yet, however, if you would like to do all the work on a time and materials basis, we can set that up immediately. There are currently plenty of open slots for the week of 8/24 and there are still a number open for next week as well.
