This was the 4th contractor that we called in to give us an estimate on exactly the same work we had written estimates on. Bud the owner set up an appointment and was quite punctual on his arrival. He seemed quite professional in his understanding the scope of everything that we needed to have done, and also had some good ideas to offer. Out of the 4 contractors we received estimates from the lowest price given to us was $30,500 and the highest was $36,000.00. The other was in the middle. Bud said he would have an estimate sent over by a certain day the following week and it arrived on time as promised. I actually had to look at them for a couple of minutes to understand why they were broken down on two estimates. The bottom line is that for exactly the same work as the other 3 estimates we received, his price was $57,960 or 60% higher that the highest estimate we received. I called him up to explain this to me and he told me that he is usually not that far off from other contractors. One other point to make is all 3 contractors quoted me 3-4 weeks to complete the job and All Above said he felt better quoting 4-5 weeks which would have made us stay in a hotel for an extra week if it took 5 weeks. I cannot imagine what his labor rates are or other reasons to be 60% higher than our highest bidder and 90% higher than our lowest bidder, both which are licensed insured reputable contractors in the same area.

Bud called promptly and gave me an estimate. He was very polite and professional. He ordered the windows and when they came in, his team installed them. They cleaned up every scrap. I am very satisfied with their work.

If there was a higher mark I would give it to Bud Moore. To begin with, he returned my call promptly, and showed up at the agreed upon meeting time. This is almost unheard of in Putnam county. I have been trying to get my bathroom remodelled for years, and became so frustrated by the no shows or the blatant disregard of budget, I gave up. A friend told me to try Angies List, so I did. His company not only got glowing reviews, but the writer always made a point of saying something about Bud as a person. So I took a chance. What followed was a wonderful relationship, very talented and professional subs when needed, a job finished on time through snowstorms, ice and Christmas holidays. The subs showed up exactly at the time promised, Bud checked on each and every sub daily, and the worksite was spotless when they were finished for the day. He had very helpful suggestions to the original plan based on his experience, which always proved to be the right way to go. We now have a master bath right out of a magazine. So beautiful. As an addendum I would like to relate a personal story that occurred during the renovation. My 92 yr old mother-in-law fell just prior to Christmas and had extensive arm fractures. 2 days before Christmas the hospital discharged her without any warning and our house was in no way set up for a handicap status. I asked Bud if there was anyway if he could install a handicap rail in the guest bath and banisters on both sides of my stairway. He was doubtful because of so many other jobs needing to be wrapped up prior to Christmas. I totally understood and didn't bring it up again. That afternoon he showed up with a group of workers and accomplished it so we had a safe environment to bring my mother-in-law home to. This speaks not only to his character, but his compassion realizing we were overwhelmed and didn't know how to accomplish what was needed. This is a good man. I will be having him back for any and all future work in our home.

We hired Bud, the owner of Above and Beyond Contracting, after speaking with quite a few contractors. We felt Bud was the most knowledgable from many suggestions he gave us during the initial consult. We also felt that he would be the easiest to work with and we were right. From the beginning Bud helped us walk through the design of the project and gave suggestions based on his past experience. He applied for all the permits and when the permit got held up due to an inspector's mistake, he promptly corrected the situation. Throughout the project, Bud worked with 2 employees only. There was no rotating help. We felt comfortable with his employees, especially being a mom at home with 2 young children. Communication was excellent. All details were discussed with us and nothing was ever completed until it was cleared with us first. Above and Beyond's workmanship is excellent, from the framing to the finishing carpentry. The project consisted of a bedroom, bathroom, main room and gym space, which was separated from the main room by a half wall with built in shelving, and a kitchenette. Everything was framed out in about 3 days! They worked efficiently. And they cleaned up the basement every day. They installed tile flooring in some parts of the basement and in the shower, and it looks great. One tile got stepped on and pushed out of place and it was removed and replaced without having to ask for this. Attention to detail was great. When we encountered a minor problem with the bathroom plumbing, Bud worked with his plumber to come up with a solution that was acceptable to us, but making sure it wouldn't cost us alot. One suggestion Bud gave us was to install a drop ceiling so that we would always have access to plumbing and such. This was not even on our radar. We always thought those looked like an office. But we ultimately took his suggestion and it looks fantastic. It cost a bit more, but if we ever have a leak in the future, I know we'll be glad we took his suggestion. The project is nearly complete and it looks fantastic. We are very happy with the project and we would hire Above and Beyond again for any future projects.

What we expected out of our contractor was completion of the contract on time and at or under budget. That is exactly what Bud delivered. But, he also delivered more. The tiles in our bathrooms were so precisely installed: grout lines are stick straight and of even depth, and the tile pattern is uniform with a minimal use of partial tiles. We expected the work to be done on time, but we were also given daily updates on the progress of the work and a schedule detailing what to expect in the coming days. If we ever had a question or concern during the process, Bud would answer his mobile phone and answer our questions (even late at night or early in the morning). He was accommodating with our last-minute changes to the plans and would do the extra work that we didn't anticipate at the start of the job. Bud and his crew were so clean and considerate, they would even clean up a bit after other contractors in the house. I know it is difficult to choose a contractor you've never worked with before, but we got a good feeling with Bud and are very pleased with ourselves for having such great instincts. Above & Beyond treated our house like they were privileged guests: very clean, very respectful, very considerate about leaving the place better than when they arrived. We will obviously use them for any project down the line and we couldn't recommend Bud and his crew more highly.

Bud worked with my boyfriend ,because I was in the hospital with my son. He was professional-on time and helpful. He suggested taking out the old air conidtioner box below the existing window and really finish my daughters room. When I got home from the hospital i was so pleased at the results i thought wow what can I do next? My daughters room is now the warmest room in the house and looks like an actual bedroom now with two beautiful windows! He also finished the outside by each window. All around it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend him and use him again. Affordable , expert, and friendly.

Bud Moore provided the highest level of professional service. He was very responsive and punctual, provided a fair price and completed the work as promised. The quality of the work is very high and any observations about minor defects are corrected immediately and without hesitation. Bud and his crew treated my property with respect, always leaving it clean and free of debris. I would highly recommend this contractor to anyone and will seek him out for any future projects.

The man was fair and correct. He was very prompt and a pleasure to work with. His numbers were good. I ended up going with a another contractor because a friend who is a broker and is involved in many construction projects had multiple good experiences with the second contractor. I don’t’ hesitate to recommend Above and Beyond Contracting to others based on my experience with him.

This is the second project that Above & Beyond has done for me. Bud continues to be amazing. His crew is courteous and clean. The work is top notch and the prices are very reasonable. I recommend them highly.

We LOVE our bathroom and updates to the entire master suite. Working with above & beyond contracting was great. Bud, the owner, was amazing. He had so many good ideas to maximize our space and budget. We used every one of his ideas and are thrilled with the results. This was no easy task to renovate an original bathroom in an 80 year old house but he delivered it on budget and on time and the product is beautiful. His team of subcontractors were professional and very talented at their specialty and of course Bud was there to manage every detail which we really appreciated. Overall a great experience and now we can't wait to use him again update our other bathrooms! I would recommend this company to anyone.

Our experience with Above and Beyond Contracting was easy with positive results. Bud and is crew took our dirty, dank, dusty basement and made it into a real room - all we had to do was buy the floor tiles and pick the paint colors - he took care of the rest. It was truly a comfortable experience to leave this project in Bud's hands. Just meeting him once, you get the feeling you can trust him with your project. After living with our new basement for more than a month since the reno, we can happily recommend Above and Beyond without hesitation. We're looking forward to doing our kitchen next.

So far, he is very good. I think he is very professional. His bid was right in the middle of the three we got, but the way he presented his bid was extremely professional and well done. That is why we decided to go with him. We already plan to have him come back in the spring to do our windows. The sub-contractors he got for electrical and plumbing have been well coordinated, time wise. He has found solutions for any problems that have come up. All of his workers have been very professional and have done great work so far.

I knew I would like working with Bud from the beginning. He was prompt for appointments and communicated with me by phone and email. He listened to my 'grand plan' for the office and then added his thoughts to make the job both to code and functional. His quote was detailed and fair. He started the job when promised and worked nicely with my hectic schedule. The end result is a home office that I am proud to show off and happy to work in. It was a wonderful experience overall.

Bud did a great job. He was responsive and took great pride in his work. One may get better prices but they won't get better work.

Bud Moore is a conscience contractor and craftsman who is meticulous. He takes pride in his work and is very respectful. He treated each stage of the project with the utmost care and concern. He was punctual, very professional and kept us informed as to what was coming next and when. Bud was there for us whenever we had questions or concerns. He was always respectful and supportive, even of my poor choice in a towel rack which I quickly found out would not work. He removed the rack after just installing it, repaired the wall and continued working without missing a beat. At the end of each day’s work, debris was disposed of and the complete work area was vacuumed. The tradespeople Bud has working with him are experienced, professional and highly qualified. The cost of this project was fair and the quality was definitely Above and Beyond our expectations. Bud made this experience stress free for us and the results are beautiful. We could not have chosen a better contractor and highly recommended Above and Beyond Contracting.

I did not use this contractor as he didn't seem interested in the project from our initial meeting and it was reflected in his "guess-timate." For a master bath/bedroom addition over a small 2 car garage space $110,000 - $140,000 I got several other "guess-timates" & even the high-end workmanship companies came in at $70,000 - $80,000 & the more general contractors came in at $30,000 - $50,000 - all had impeccable A ratings & references. I'm happy to supply you with the high-end companies I was impressed with. I am the daughter of a very quality conscious contractor (now retired) and I have worked for an architect so I know what a job entails & should cost, I didn't divulge this to any of the Angie's List members who gave me estimates. I understand if you don't want to do a job but there are better ways of saying that instead of giving a super high guess-timate. To clarify, I don't doubt this companies work as they didn't do any for us but check references before hiring.

Bud is very down to earth knowledgeable professional who takes his job very seriously. Bud was very helpful in coming up with a plan for the bathroom letting us know what was and was not advisable. He is very easy to work and is meticulous and truly cares about the job . He and his crew are very respectful of your home and clean up every night before going home for the day. He is always punctual and he even made time to meet with us face to face on the weekends since my wife and I tend to travel frequently. I have used many contractors in the past and he is by far the most professional and honest contractor I have come across.

Bud Moore at Above & Beyond Contracting was very professional and took the time to deal with the various trades (plumbing, roofer, carpentry, electric, etc.) to examine our blueprints and provide a very detailed contract for all of the work that would be needed to complete the project. We chose, after much deliberation, to buy a new house rather than rebuild the old one. We received less expensive estimates for the project from other contractors, however, we were most comfortable with Above & Beyond and would have used them had we proceeded. It is very difficult to compare prices for these things and ultimately, we felt that we would have been happier dealing with Bud than with the other contractors we had interviewed.

Our experience with Above and Beyond was excellent from start to finish. We contacted Bud based on other positive reviews on Angie's List. Both my husband and I have had jobs overseeing construction jobs in large homes, and have had numerous experiences with a variety of contractors. Above & Beyond was among the best by far. Bud scheduled a home visit with us quickly to discuss our options and provide an estimate, which he then returned to us within 24 hrs. During the visit Bud was extremely professional, provided us with good options and suggestions for the window project. For example, we had wanted to replace the kitchen window along with all the others, but when Bud learned that we were also considering a future kitchen renovation he recommended that we wait until later so that we don't run into the problem of having to redesign the kitchen around the new window. He also suggested a brand of window and helped us decide on an appropriate size for the new bay window. We also met with a Home Depot rep for the same project. The bid came in higher for the same brand of window. I will say that before we received both bids, we had already decided to work with A&B instead of HD because we were confident that we would get a better level of service and responsibility for the work. Once we approved the estimate Bud ordered the windows through a local company. He contacted us again when the windows were in, and was able to schedule the installation within the week. He quoted us 2 maybe 2 1/2 days for the job, but he and his crew finished the installation in 1 1/2 days. Everyone who came to our house was professional, polite, courteous. Even though we had not moved in yet, they were still neat and respectful of the space. They finished quickly, efficiently and everything came out just as we would have hoped. We will absolutely contact A&B again in the future for any work in our home, and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Last year he remodeled my kitchen. This is the second job we did with him. He redid our kitchen and he is honest. He does what he says he is going to do. The quality of work is good and he stands by it. We had a great experience with him and we gave him several referrals. He is a great guy to work with and he is fair. We were very pleased with him.

Great experience and great finished product. We were very happy with the work and the new ideas that Bud brought to the project. We had some ideas but he walked us through each step and why he thought some things would work and wouldn't. He was very patient with our questions and concerns and kept us updated through every phase. His team is responsible and reliable. We had a great experience and plan to use them again next year when we renovate our master bathroom! It is so refreshing to find a honest contractor who is priced right, has good ideas and delivers a great product.

It was a great experience. The final product is amazing and the experience from start to finish was easy which is never the case with construction. The owner and his team were very nice to work with and respectful. The owner is very involved in every step of the way and his attention to detail and design ideas were great and honestly I was not expecting that from a contractor. I am so happy with my deck and we will still use the company to come and stain it each year and even for that they will make small repairs as necessary because they really care about the finished product. It was finished on time and on budget and looks amazing!
