Terrible. I left 4 detailed messages over the course of three and a half weeks, and once with a person within their office and did not receive a return phone call. I left a number where I could be reached as well as a description of services needed. I also tried calling 3 additional times and didn't bother to leave a message. I even explained that I had left several previous messages and requested a return call. I had previously used Strait Line, as I live in a housing complex, literally, within 1 mile of their offices and was originally satisfied with their work and responsiveness. However, I will never use them again. I guarantee you, as a board member within the complex, I am often asked to recommend service providers. I will strongly discourage anyone within the development from reaching out to Strait Line. I subsequently reached out to someone else whom has done work on my home and whom is also very, very busy due to his professionalism and ability and I received a call back immediately with a tentative date for work completion. ========================== The company's response is 100% incorrect. Straight line has done work several years ago, which was scheduled through the caretaker. The caretaker was NOT asked to do anything on my behalf for this latest request. I contacted Strait Line DIRECTLY multiple times. There was no appointment ever scheduled. I could care less what the River Reporters award says, in this case, Strait Line was terrible....and obviously not truthful.

Response from STRAIT LINE ROOFING & SIDING
Strait Line has not done previous work for [Member name removed]. The caretaker, [Membe name removed], has been in contact with us and we have spoken to him regarding the 2 shingles that needed to be "looked at". [Member name removed] has made an appointment with us for the second week in June which will apparently be cancelled. Allow me to repeat myself in saying Strait Line Roofing did not install the roof. There is a 2-3 week wait as we are currently installing new roofs. If [Member name removed] chooses to speak of us negatively please note that Strait Line Roofing has received the River Reporter's Best Roofer award for 6 consecutive years. That award is done through the readers in the community. Furthermore, please visit our website to read several positive reviews.

Shingles that were replaced in damaged area were cut short causing water to enter structure. Also, gutter was not fastened securely after work was done. Called a number of times to correct problem with NO RESPONSE. I had to hire someone else to repair the area that they worked on to stop the leaking and repair interior damage. Horrible customer service!!!!!!!

Response from STRAIT LINE ROOFING & SIDING
Strait Line has completed new roofs for [member name removed] in the past however he declined a new roof for this residence. Strait Line does not warranty repairs. In his complaint, [member name removed] stated that “shingles replaced were cut short of end of roof". The roof was not installed by Strait Line and therefore the lines created by the existing roof were followed. There were never any mentions of a leak. We maintained communication with [member name removed] both via email and telephone in which became harassing and threatening. [member name removed] viewed the shingles both before and after installation. In fact, he was present during the job process as well as the day of completion which gave him many opportunities to express his concerns. [member name removed] complaints were made only when the late payment was due and as per contract was due upon the completion date.[member name removed] did not make payment in a timely manner and therefore the late fee was applied to the balance. He wanted a “correction” and was with holding the late fee which was in breach of the signed contract. Several attempts were made to obtain the late fee and eventually legal action was taken. We have since obtained all money owed and the matter is now closed. I can only assume that [member name removed] is giving such a poor review because legal action was taken to obtain money owed.

Without informing me in advance or specifying it in our agreement, Strait Line Roofing (Blair Cooper) subcontracted the work to another company. The labor was done entirely by G&G Roofing (Guaillas Inc.) out of Middletown, NY with Blair providing limited oversight. An error on Strait Line?s material order resulted in a drip edge narrower than specified in our agreement being installed. During moderate to heavy rain water drips from the underside edge of the 40' low slope section of roof over my porch. This is the primary reason my otherwise fine 15 year roof was replaced. While it previously dripped in a couple places where the shingles were not laid properly, it now drips from the wood along the entire width of roof. Several knowledgable contractors told me it should not do this period, and the wider drip edge would resolve this. Blair would not acknowledge this is a problem, and told me I need gutters. The wider drip edge was available 20 minutes away, however, getting the job done quickly took priority over doing it correctly. I believe, this was the result of his limited access to the workers of the company he subcontracted to. And that (according to Blair) he pays them by the square of roofing material installed. During the first substantial snow fall, water dripped from the skylight in my kitchen, it never did this before. Based on these issues and my interaction with Blair over a couple weeks, in my opinion, he is less than honest and his professionalism is lacking. Strait Line?s advertising references a local publications ?best of? award for Roofers. In retrospect the award is meaningless, because there are very few ?Roofers" in the area. In the future I will use a reputable general contractor with good roofing experience, and its own employees.

Response from STRAIT LINE ROOFING & SIDING
This job was completed on March 7, 2014 for the Livingston Manor Public Library. Ms. [removed member name]'s responsibility was to cut checks and obtain a building permit per contract. Because Ms. [removed member name]failed to obtain a building permit the job was stopped by the town's building inspector and a NYS Trooper was brought to the job site. Mr. Cooper, owner of Strait Line Roofing, was told if his men did not cease work immediately he would be detained (arrested). Ms. [removed member name] was contacted via every outlet that was given to us to no avail. Therefore, the job was halted and the men waited while Mr. Cooper obtained the permit. Additional fees were incurred for time and the permit. The Livingston Manor Public Library did not pay the amount due in a timely manner and was therefore turned over to collection. This matter was handled by Strait Line Roofing's attorney and was closed last week. One can certainly agree that this negative review is due to the fact that the judge ruled in favor of Strait Line Roofing.
