Martin and his assistant, Barry, worked diligently every time they worked on a job. They cleaned up after themselves, were very organized, and detail oriented. Everything was done to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Removed plastic vapor barrier and chicken wire covering crawlspace insulation in floor and removed all debris from under the house in crawlspace (1,000 sq ft area). Finished insulation of two car garage attic, built hatch door in garage attic and closed off a wall in garage attic. Removed toilet, replaced rotted floor, removed pedestal sink in preparation for a new floor, changed out tub spout, fixed a 6" hole in floor in kitchen. Cut down a door in laundry room. Cleaned all gutters around the house. Moved a roof vent in house attic for placement closer to microwave.

See above. Plus he is no where to be found at his last address. Beware.
Description of Work: Sided a 24 x 24 one and half story building. Siding looks fine but he did not clean up and left items inside that should have been hauled away. Wanted more money before job was completed. I refused as his contact stated half down and balance on completion. I knew if I gave him more money the job would take even longer. When I refused and reminded him of his contract for payment he completed the job. After inspection, he did not put the foam board on one of the last side he did. He seems like a nice guy and talked about having to put food on the table for his family but I found that to be very unprofessional. I would not recommend him nor hire him again.

Beware of this small-town sleazeball. He initially seems eager and trustworthy. He talks about getting food on the table for his wife and children. He's desperate to get the money up front. He sucked me in by doing the first couple of jobs cheaply and quickly. Then he would ask for more money as the jobs got more "complicated." He does not clean up after himself -- he stashed roofing debris in my garage instead of hauling it away. He promised to fix my chimney but never showed up to finish the job. He refused to answer my calls and did not refund my money. And the work he did do has not held up well. It's shoddy, unskilled and slapped together by someone who does not have adequate training to do the sort of things he promises. In fact, he probably has no business laying his hands on anyone's home, especially a historic place that needs an expert touch. The last I heard of him he had botched someone's roofing job and refused to make it right. Folks in Westfield: Just say no to Marty. He may come off as an earnest guy, but his incompetence and lack of integrity will make you regret ever writing that check.
Description of Work: Let me clarify something before I go into details: I have an old family home that is 1,200 miles from where I reside, so I made the mistake of paying up front and trusting a con man to do the work, something my better sense told me not to do. But given my circumstances, I wasn't able to make it back to inspect the work and pay afterwards, so this was the best I could come up with. I paid the amount quoted for a hot-water heater, but was asked for $100 more because the job was "complicated." I paid for the repair of my chimney, and Mr. Burdett took my $350 and never did the work. I paid for him to clean my eaves, and he never did the work. I also paid for him to glaze my windows on my 100-year-old-plus home, and he broke a window instead.
