M & A ASPHALT

I agree with the other reviewers. Please do not use or trust M & A Asphalt. M & A did my driveway, and now I have cracks in the asphalt months later. My calls are ingored. Mario is an incompetent and dishonest man. I am calling on all Angies List users to boycott Mario at M & A Asphalt. Steve, Roslyn.

They were the lowest for what I had done. They did a very nice job. They were prompt, didn't ask for any money upfront and they did a good job. I will absolutely use them again.

The owner of the company came to my home and gave me a great price. He promised the world. Once we cut him a check, it became a different story. They made us wait an eternity to get the work done and once it was completed there were so many problems that the company had to be called out again... with the threat that I wouldn't pay my balance unless the mistakes were rectified. Even then, many problems still remained. Overall they did a slap-dash job with no concern for quality or customer satisfation. My driveway has already begun to crack and huge pools of water accumulate as a result of their horrible grading. The entire experience was a nightmare.

M&A completed our job in May 2007. Mario was polite and timely when he came to give us an estimate. He was the least expensive of five companies. I inquired about warranties, he said material and labor were unconditionally guaranteed for a year. Demolition and removal of old driveway went fine. They were fast and neat. We did have to wait several weeks for them to return to lay the new driveway. The apron was never graded properly. The type/color of mortar does not complement the old-style appearance of the cobblestone. The blue stone pads are collecting water when it rains or when I water the plants. We now have a small tree emerging in the middle of the driveway. The crack is about 1 foot in diameter and getting worse everyday. My husband and I have called 5 times in the last 2 weeks asking Mario to come back and take a look at the crack. We didn't even mention the other issues yet. I left messages on their machine and have spoken with Vanessa, who answers the phone. All to no avail.

A horrible experience. The company was called back to re-do the retaining wall due to its unprofessional look and extremely sharp edges. The owner, Mario, argued with us claiming it was done correctly... that is until he ran his hand along the retaining wall and cut his fingers on it. And even though they re-did the wall, it was not done to our satisfaction. Furthermore, the driveway is graded in such a way as to pool water at the edge of our walkway during rainstorms. As a result, anyone entering the walkway at these times must wade through a puddle to get to our front door. All in all, the company did things in a very rushed and rude manner. Not to be recommended.
