The online reviews and the sales pitch were outstanding. When it came to actually doing the work, the biggest failure was the lack of communication between the design department and the project manager and the onsite carpenter. I ended up paying a lot of money and not being satisfied with the end product. The project manager blew me off and minimized my concerns and then claimed he didn't. My husband is still replacing (2 months later) baseboard and door and window casing that they were going to charge us $90/hour to refit and replace. They also installed a washer and dryer and didn't take out the shipping struts. Luckily my husband guessed that they didn't do it, so our expensive washer was not ruined. I have to pay to have the shower floor replaced, but I can't afford to do it at the moment. They claim it's the materials I chose, but I think it's the way it was installed. I dread getting into my shower now... I reached out to them to detail my experience and they said they were sorry, but didn't take any responsibility, and they didn't offer to fix it. Oh well.

Kaz isn't cheap, but they are reliable and professional, they do high-quality work, and they stand behind it. If they do charge more, you are getting something of value with the added cost. We looked at a lot of contractors before settling on Kaz. We almost went with another, who was encouraging us to do work that in retrospect really was a bad idea (moving an exterior wall to make the kitchen bigger). The Kaz designer said that would not be prudent, describing how much extra work it would involve; she showed us how the kitchen space we have is plenty, with the right design. Instead she helped us with really useful remodeling ideas, such taking a bit of garage space to make a mud room (that has worked out extremely well). She displayed great competence in her arguments and her understanding of the mechanics behind all the options, and in fact our meeting with her is what sold us on the company. We didn't interact with her much after that, but fortunately everyone else we dealt with met the same standard that she had set. The designer we met with in their store led us through all the choices of fixtures, tile, etc., and we’re happy with the selections we made with her help. Once the work started, the project took about 12 weeks in all, and extended over both Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. There was a base crew of two, with others helping on and off with special tasks such as drywall, electrical, plumbing, tile. Everyone was courteous and professional. The work continued pretty much without interruption (other than a bit off for the holidays) until it was completed. They accommodated big and small changes as the project proceeded (e.g., changing placement of shower head). If the changes meant more work, they would charge for it, but these costs were clearly laid out in writing up front; there were no surprise charges at any point. They continued to give advice that seemed impartial, sometimes recommending against ideas that would have led to additional charges. There were a few glitches along the way, which I think are to be expected for a project of this scope. I have no complaints about how they were handled. Afterward, some grout in the shower-floor tile kept coming out. A Kaz guy returned several times to fix it, trying more aggressive steps each time. In all, it took several weeks with various attempted fixes to finally get it good. Through all this, they responded promptly each time I reported the problem, and they never charged me for any of it. The point here is that they stood behind their work. As part of this job, I also had them replace two skylights that had leaked every winter since they were replaced when I had a roofing job done a few years before, by another company. That company was utterly unable to make them stop leaking, and eventually flat out said that skylights just do that and I shouldn’t expect otherwise. The new skylights installed by Kaz have never leaked since they did the replacement. Several years have passed since all this work was done, and it's holding up extremely well (including that shower tile). We love the design and the decisions we made, particularly going with Kaz for this project.

Unfortunately, the garage installer from the Kaz company was injured. He was not going to return to work for about 6 weeks. Therefore, rather than make me wait, they sent an installer from another company. He was professional and seemed to do a quality job. Had no problems related to the installation. I would recommend the Kaz company to others. Their price and warranty are very good.

Kaz did a great job. Although they were not the cheapest, we wanted quality windows (Andersen), wanted New Construction (Big L would not do new construction) and got good references from two past Kaz customers who had similar projects. Especially important to use was keeping the interior molding (original) in tact. Although project was started after they originally told us, the quality was exceptional. Everything was done from outside so interior molding was not disturbed much. Any that was, was corrected and touch-up painting was done after the project on each and every window. The quality of the windows is great, the exterior aluminum work looks good. The crew showed up on time each day, were very respectful of the interior of the house, putting tarps down and cleaning up each evening. They estimated 2 1/2 weeks for entire job (22 windows) and got it done in less than 2 weeks. We were very happy with the work.

The overall project went very well. Kaz was one of three companies that bid on the project, and they did the most professional job of listening and responding to our thoughts. The upfront planning was clear. Communication during the project was always very responsive and thorough. The selection process was handled very well, with the individual listening to our thoughts, but also feeling free to offer her own opinion, which we valued. The quality of the work was excellent--both by Kaz employees and by the several subcontractors. The Kaz employee who did the carpentry and performed the overall ongoing management of the project did an outstanding job. We are pleased with the final result.

Calling and scheduling was very easy. Corey came out to my house on time and was very prompt and professional. He gave me a ball park price for the basement remodel. I have to admit I was a little sticker shocked but it was a ball park price so I would wait until the estimate arrived from them and other companies and review everything with my wife. He told me it would take a week and half for an estimate and would be mailed to me. No estimate was ever sent to me. I was a little disappointed that I never heard back from them. I would not recommend them or would I ever call them for anything in the future.

Work was not performed as the estimate was out of our price range.
Description of Work: We requested an estimate for an addition to our home. They were to turn our attached two car garage into a master suite with full bath and then build a three car garage and attach that to the side of our home with walk up storage inside. The plans and drawings were fantastic and the salesman was very professional and friendly. He explained the entire process from start to finish and integrated all our requests into the plan. At the end of the day however, it was just too far out of our price range. I would recommend them highly, but be prepared for their prices. I guess that's what top end quality costs.

As we and an Independent GAF Inspector informed you, the reason for your issues are your skylights and not the roof or the installation of the roofing. Skylights do fail after time and we typically recommend replacement when the roof is being completed. We did make that recommendation but you elected not to have them done. I understand but can't help anymore than what we have done.

I didn't go with them because they were $10k higher than all the other contractors who came to give an estimate. This is my letter to them that went unanswered, except for a call after 2 1/2 weeks asking for more money. No apologies. No reference to my letter. Just someone named Debbie asking for more money. March 12, 2015 Attn Customer Service: I recently had a bad experience with Kaz Brothers and wanted to share my concerns regarding the quality of workmanship, customer service and billing practices. I hired your company to remove the ice from the gutters and the lower portion of the main house. What resulted was a mediocre quality of work, significant damage to my landscaping and a bill about 17% greater than the maximum range. On March 2 I contacted Kaz Companies for an ice removal quote for my roof. In an effort to keep the costs down I requested work on only the main house, not the sunroom or the garage. The receptionist as well as Rob (Ext. 22) explained to me that they didn?t offer individual quotes but the range was $350-$700. I mentioned that it was a wide range but I was reassured that ?under no circumstances would it be above $700?. I accepted their offer to remove the ice using a steam machine as I had a new roof installed in 2014. I then arranged to be at the property during the work on Thursday, March 5. On Thursday, March 5 the foreman arrived with three workers. I provided the water and the electricity to power the steam machine. The foreman said that they would ?completely remove the ice from the gutters, cut back the ice a couple feet from the edge and using steam cut the blocks of ice so that there?s an avenue for the water to drain.? They were there for about 4 hours and I was there for all but the last hour. A workman mentioned something about ?coming back to finish? before I left but there may have been a misunderstanding. I returned later to find that there was a 6-8 foot section of ice that was not cut, but was still solid. I went onto my smaller roof and noticed that there was also ice in the gutters of the main portion of the house. They did a decent job but it was not as advertised by the foreman. I called Rob (Ext. 22) and left a voicemail referencing my concerns. The message further stated I took pictures and would forward them to his cell. phone. He didn?t call me back that day or the next, which was Friday. Saturday I noticed (or I should say my wife noticed) that they had been indiscriminately tossing the 15-20 lb. ice blocks wherever they wanted with little concern for what was in the area. As a result in the front of the house they completely pulverized 2 bushes and severely damaged 2 more. These are mature landscape features that will cost a few hundred dollars to have replaced professionally. These bushes were in plain view and the only way to explain this is that they were lazy, reckless and/or poorly trained. I called Rob (Ext. 22) and left another voicemail mentioning the damage and that I had more pictures to forward him. And he again didn?t call me back. I assumed Rob or someone from the company would call me on Monday or Tuesday. Nope, but I did get a bill for $815.63. That?s about 17% higher than the maximum cap I would be charged based on the final agreement and conversations with 2 Kaz Companies employees. If the foreman had arrived and stated that this was a job outside of the range (even though it was only a portion of my total structure) then we could have made a decision at that point to hire your company or seek other bids. ***Bottom Line: Ø I was overcharged by a minimum of $115.63. I will only consider the max. $700 quote and nothing more. Ø The customer service was awful. Your scheduler (Rob) received both my messages but refused to return either one over a period of 6 days. I doubt he even referred them to customer service, if that even exists at Kaz Companies. Ø Your employees did reasonable work, but where was the ?100% removal of ice from the gutters?? I have pictures of ice in the gutters, not to mention the 6-8 foot ice slab that?s still on my roof. When you look at the pictures it seems as if someone just forgot which is why I called Rob to see if they were coming back. Ø Your employees threw ?cinderblocks? of ice onto mature landscaping and have caused substantial damage. My proposals: 1. I will deduct the damages to my property from the $700 contractual maximum and remit back $400 as paid-in-full. I will be responsible for replacing the damaged bushes. 2. As an alternative, we will wait until the thaw and I will have a reputable nursery come out, access the damage and give me a price for professional installation of the bushes. They will not quote the price of seedlings but rather mature bushes. I will then deduct that amount from the $700 and forward you the difference, which could be quite a bit less than $400. In summary, I?m very unhappy with the quality of work, customer service and the billing practices. I have attached a check for $400. If you accept this offer to move along with our lives then please cash this check and as such will end our business relationship.

What a winter. The perfect storm we call it. Large snow pack with many below zero days. A lot of ice and many people had interior damage. The phone ran off the hook for about three straight weeks (7 Lines). So many people asking for our help and that's what we tried to do. Many people were very disappointed because we couldn't help everyone. Most people were very pleased that we responded and helped. We explained our costing estimate on the phone with no guarantees, the price range ($350 to $750, never the $700 mentioned) was the typical estimate. We also had to charge sales tax for this service. We explained we may not clear all ice but would try to elevate the water build up behind the dam with channels cut if needed. The goal was to spend just enough time on each to help elevate the dam and move on to help the others. In this case we spent the max time in order to top out at $750 and moved on. The men work tirelessly in freezing weather and tried their best. Walking through 3 feet on snow just to get the the areas. Most people were grateful and many people called back to thank us and made sure we in the office knew about how hard the guys were working in that weather. Some people elected to hear what the wanted, send in a partial payment and complain about landscape damage that I think we all have experience during this weather. Nothing the guys did was intentional but what is a reasonable expectation of removing snow from a roof and melting off an ice dam. I am sorry you had some landscape damage, but we cannot be held liable for any on that damage.

I have worked with The Kaz Companies since buying my house over 5 years ago. They have completed roofing repair and gutter replacement projects as well as window replacement in 2011. So, when it came time to replace a few more windows this year, it was a no-brainer to call on them again. Two guys came out today to install three windows. They worked well together, had me laughing at different points with their banter, and provided a quality window installation. As soon as I have money saved up for the next round of window replacements, there's no doubt in my mind that The Kaz Companies will be at the top of my list.

Our current work is in progress, but I'll make this an ongoing review; We used KAZ brothers last year to do our siding, some windows and a little drywall. We were happy with their work last year, but of course we still got estimates for this new work. They're a little expensive, but considerably less so than Ivy Lea and their cost seems justified. They have a ton of staff, and bring them in when they need to. They get the details right, and are astoundingly neat for as messy as the work is. If you've ever had work done, you know how drywall dust gets everywhere. There's a tiny bit of drywall dust in other rooms, but really not much at all. We both work full time, and the kids are in and out so the crew is here by themselves most of the time. I trust them with the keys to the castle, and they're astoundingly patient with our pets being here all day to "help". The estimate process was good, and Ray even made some recommendations we hadn't thought of. He suggested moving the stove to a different wall, and changed the whole flow of the room for just the cost of moving the gas line. The time after we accepted their estimate before they were able to start work gave us time to think and rethink our choices. There were a couple of issues at first with scheduling time with the designer, but that was resolved pretty quickly. We're 2 weeks into the project and things are going well. The kitchen was completely gutted, and I hadn't fully prepared the first day. I thought they were just going to rip out the cabinets day 1, Keith and Adam helped me move everything out when they got here in the morning before they started work. There were some delays beyond their control over with electricians, plumbers and inspections, but things are moving quickly now. The kitchen has new drywall fully primed, cement board on the floor and all the cabinets are in the house with a handful of them attached. There is a flaw in 1 of the cabinet doors that I've asked them to take care of, and I have no doubt they will. They haven't started on the bathroom yet, but that was our choice. I asked them to avoid having both the kitchen, and our only full bathroom out of commission at the same time. More as it develops...

The roof was completed in 2006. We have record of an issue in May of this year. I understand your frustration but we have called at least 8 times since and have had to leave messages each time. At the time of me writing this, your roof has been inspected and you have been shown that the roof is not the issue but a window/siding was your problem. We too get frustrated when our workmanship is questioned.
