Reinhardt Home Heating

We had been using Reinhardt for service on our oil boiler, and buying our fuel oil from them for years. So, when we decided to get a new boiler we went to them for a quote. They installed a new natural gas boiler for us, and it has worked very well. The installer was very good and seemed very knowledgeable. I was entitled to a large rebate from our electric/gas company, and it took a while to get the proper paperwork for it from Reinhardt. I would have thought that they would have been more familiar with that process. Although the installer was very good, the office staff leaves a little to be desired.

We have used their service contract program for many years now. Last year they did a service on my 1 year-old gas boiler. It seemed okay at first, but shortly thereafter the boiler stopped working with an error message that the service needed to be done. It seems that the service technician failed to reset the service date in the boilers computer control, so I had to do it myself (it was pretty easy). The thing is, that this makes me wonder about their service. They always used to call me and schedule a service during the summer, but this year (2015) they didn't. I called to ask them about it in October. They said that they were booked up until FEBRUARY, 2016! They also said they relied on the customer to contact them to schedule the appointment. This was a rather large operational change that was a surprise to me. I am beginning to lose confidence in Reinhardt's service. Although I made an appointment for the service in January, 2016, now I will probably have to fudge the service date in the boiler myself. I very well may begin looking elsewhere for service. We will see...

When my furnace started acting up in the middle of February, I had a great experience with Reinhardt. They came out and looked at it the same day and quoted me a good price on a new furnace. They installed it a few days later. I was worried that it would be very expensive to replace the furnace so quickly in the middle of winter, but the price they gave me was very fair and they allowed me to pay half down and pay the rest over six months interest free. I also buy heating oil from them and buy their service plan during the winter. Everyone I talked to on the phone and who came out to the house was very friendly and nice. I recommend Reinhardt very highly.

Nice product. Installed in small area, so not easiest of conditions. Final installation done very well, but with a few glitches along the way. They did a nice job.

Other than the fact that I had to go to its office in West Oneonta to fill out the paperwork, it has been a painless experience.

Once the service had been performed our furnace did not work correctly. It kept misfiring and spewing oil fumes throughout the house. When we called to have it repaired we were given a call back from an answering service from one of the service men. He gave my wife such an attitude over the phone that she was beside herself. She was told she should have called during the day and set up a service call. Excuse us for having a furnace that was acting up at night. When he arrived at our home around 10 pm that evening, Igreeted him at the door and wasn't even greeted back. he simply smacked the screen door with his dirty bucket of tools and tromped on down the cellar stairs. As he was going down the stairs I asked him if he was going to maintain his pissy attitude about this call: he then turns around, stomps back up the stairs and tries to intimidate me with his hulking size. I put my hand on his chest and asked him to leave. He then says you don't need me? I told him i would be calling his supervisor in the morning.The next morning we get a call 7:45 am and are asked what happened the evening before. My wife again tries to explain the situation and wasn't even given an apology. Later that morning they came to repair the problem.This company needs a class in customer relations.
