Rufino, the owner, kept me updated on any developments, such as he had told me up front and I knew this from prior experience with this porch flooring that you wouldn't know the extent of the damage until the old flooring was removed. Fortunately there was only one particular section where all the layers had to be replaced, but Rufino showed me this when he uncovered this and I agreed with his recommendations.

They were clear and fair about the price increase, and we were happy with the final cost. The crew was on time every morning and were nice to have around. The job involved some non-standard railings, which they did a good job of fabricating on-site, and some clever re-working of a problem drainage spot.
Description of Work: Rufino and his crew removed and repaired rotted wood from a porch, deck and railing. The job was bigger than we first thought because the rot was more widespread once the floorboards were up. Rufino was also happy to check out and fix a few small problems in the house. I will use him for other types of work in the future.

Workers quickly determined where to cut the hole given where my inline bathroom vent fan was located. Workers put up a long ladder, reaching beyond the second floor to install vent from outside. Workers also connected the last section of duct work from the fan to the vent. In all, about 45 minutes total.
Description of Work: Cut a hole in the attic through the exterior wall for a bathroom vent.

He said he had cracked the sinks and needed new sinks and had to remove our mirror and countertop and the job would now cost over $1,000.00. Jireh came on a Saturday and used the parts we had and repaired the entire bathroom and left us with two working sinks. He charged $700.00 less than the first plumber had quoted and finished the job in an hour when the last plumber said it would take all day. He is fair and honest. I would definitely use him again for any project. This is the second job he has done for us and he is great.

He agreed to do that ahead of time. The plumber was not prepared to do it and did not tell me until he came. He did give me my money back. I hired another plumber.
Description of Work: We discussed doing plumbing work in the basement - putting a mixing valve on my furnace. I purchased the part ahead of time. Also, I hoped to have two leaking faucets repaired.

+ 3 moreI did not use this service because after paying for a DEAL it took about a week or so for Jireh to contact me. Jireh also suggested that I have ALL materials ready for him when he comes. I was not comfortable with this because Jireh had not viewed the job yet. Furthermore I am 65 years old and do not drive a car! I would not know what materials to get. Jireh is probably a very good handyman, but due to miscommunication, I did not proceed any further. My advise is always get a fair estimate before having work done. Jireh did contact me after cancelling, but I had already contacted another provider.
Description of Work: I needed wood rot removed and wood frame around basement door replaced. I also wanted door painted with rustoleum paint. I wanted the door frame sealed with calk.

+ 5 moreRuffino is always very responsive and his guys always show up on time. They work efficiently and have always finished on time for me. More importantly, their work is high quality, meticulous and they clean up like they were never even there. They are not the cheapest around, but the price is fair for the quality of work that they do. I have a lot of other projects around the house and will continue to use them without hesitation.
Description of Work: These guys have done a lot of work for me: removed a built-in bookshelf rebuilt 2 door frames and installed the new doors that needed to be custom fit. hung light fixtures repaired sheetrock walls that were removed for repairs at various parts of the house.

+ 5 moreWe have now utilized Jireh Handyman LLC (Ruffino) for several services and we have been more than pleased every time. Ruffino and his workers are professional, punctual, patient, and do a wonderful job. My husband and I are first time homeowners and getting some early work done to the house prior to move in was a priority for us. We had no experience whatsoever in arranging for home repair (we were coming from NYC to the suburbs) and Ruffino was very patient with us as I asked 100 questions! The day we closed on the house, Ruffino was right on time and gave us a fair bid for the wallpaper removal and backsplash installation. He and his workers completed the job AHEAD OF SCHEDULE! For a new homeowner wanting to get in and decorate, this was a dream! And the work was beautiful. I get compliments all the time on my backsplash. We asked Ruffino to install a chandelier for us, and again he was right on time. A few days later, I called him in semi-panic after my husband and I totally failed at trying to install our own faucet! Ruffino came out in a snowstorm, on a holiday, and gave us a fair price to fix our mess up :) You can't go wrong with Ruffino. I'm positive we will be using him for work in the future!

+ -1 moreJireh Handyman sent two men for four hours to install two half pieces of drywall. They installed it unevenly and offered to uninstall and reinstall but as they were on the clock, I agreed they could leave the drywall up and patch the unevenness instead. They then started to repair the wood rot on my window sill but after he opened up the rotted wood, he ended up ripped the good framing and molding as he tried to pry that up as well. I did not want him to proceed any further as he was uncertain on how he would fix the now open rotted sill and I would have to pay for additional hours. There are other contractors and so I called it a day with Jireh Handymen.
Description of Work: Put up less than one sheet of drywall and started to repair wood rot on window sill

When it came time to get the replacement parts, he knew where to go to get the parts for our aging shower, got them quickly, and gave us the receipts from the supplier. The parts prices seemed reasonable. I would definitely work with him again.
Description of Work: Provider removed and replaced the leaking and squeaking mixer and faucet cartridges on our old shower. The tiles had been replaced, blocking access to the plumbing, so he had to carefully cut the tiles without cracking them in order to remove and then replace the parts. He also replaced the cartridges in the leaking sink faucet.

Description of Work: Rufino has done many projects for me beginning in 2014 when he provided services through Handymen Connection (Elmsford). Right from the beginning I noticed that he did excellent work. When he began working on his own, I continued to use his services as he and his assistants are excellent workers. They pressure washed my house, sanded, and then painted the back and side. My neighbor commented on what a beautiful paint job Rufino did on the back and side of the house. Excellent work. He definitely aims for perfection and when he does the job, that's what you get. He is training his assistants and although some are more experienced than others, sometimes work not quite as good quality as Rufino's. Next, I needed insulation in the crawl space replaced and they did that job efficiently and professionally. Rufino then warned me that part of the main beam in the crawl space was rotten and suggested that about one third be replaced. The rot was determined to be termite damage. Replacing the middle third was a big job as it had to be supported by braces to prevent the floor from collapsing. This was a major job and was performed efficiently and professionally by Rufino. His early business experience was building houses in his home country and he has demonstrated many times to me that he knows exactly what the problem is and how to solve it, obviously from this previous experience. He explains very logically what problems are and how to solve them in spite of the fact that English is not his first language. Other smaller jobs have been done with the same professionalism and expertise. He always pays a great deal of attention to details and explains how he would do the job and asks questions to make sure he knows exactly what I want. He now has his own company and is a bit more expensive than he was before he had his own company. Unfortunately now the overhead including healthcare for his family and workers makes it necessary to cut back on some of the work I might be doing anytime soon. But I do highly recommend him and will be having him do more work as I can afford it. He is a very friendly person and always smiling and a pleasure to work with!

+ 1 moreAlthough it wasn't mentioned in the deal, two guys came to my place. I had sent them a list of things that I wanted done - possibly replace toilet tank items due to "running" water sounds and clear clogged sinks (it was suggested that I purchase two sets at Home Depot to save time). They arrived and each performed work on separate toilets.As there were two of them, they both took approximately an hour, so no time to address clogged sinks. One day after the work was performed, I noticed that one toilet tank was making noises and the other would only partially fill, stop, then again attempt to fill. I called and spoke to Rufino, he requested that I purchase another toilet tank set, just in case the installed set had failed. Rufino returned on 12/4 at no charge. He determined that the noise from one toilet was due to air in the plumbing line which occurs when maintenance is performed on the toilet. He told me that it would be a big job to attempt to release the air from the plumbing line at the toilet or at the water source, but it wouldn't cause any damages. Then he determined that the chain that was installed inside of the other toilet tank was too long, which caused the "arm" to stop and start, stop and start. He shortened the chain length and was fine. One item to note, Rufino is sometimes difficult to contact while he is on another job. He forgot that I returned several text messages and then some of the texts were literally garbled, perhaps from spell check or whatever. Polite and professional.

He went to the store and picked up supplies for the job and submitted the receipt with the final invoice. He was finished in a few hours. It was so smooth and well done that I've since contacted him for other handy-type repairs.

+ 0 moreIt all went fine. We had no trouble setting a mutually acceptable time. The two man team arrived on time. They do seem more like handymen than plumbers, but that often can be a good thing. The price was good, the time spent was not excessive, and despite the job being a little odd they were able to figure everything out and get the job done. I don't give A's except for exceptional performance. There was not much opportunity for exceptional work this time. This team did a good job. I have no complaints. I'd recommend them for most plumbing jobs.
