Description of Work: Chimney Doctors were very thorough in preparing their estimate. Their work was equally thorough and professional. At one point they encountered an unexpected "glitch", but expertly worked their way around it. They cleaned up the work area thoroughly. Although I hope never to have to have this kind of work done again, I would definitely consider using Chimney Doctors next time.

Description of Work: They arrived for the estimate earlier than projected and he explained in detail what they thought needed to be completed. I was there on the roof with them and agreed with all the observations they made. The project requirew a rebuild of the chimney (containing three seperate channels) from the roof line up. We agreed on a time for the work and they submitted a written cost estimate a few days later. The price was reasonable for the effort required. | |They arrived as promised and required as I was having the roof reshingled the day after they were to completed their work. | |The job looks good and was very well done. Description of Work: Two workers cleaned and inspected our masonry fireplace. The owner also recommended we have a special product applied around the chimmney to help prevent future leaks. They did a great job cleaning the fireplace and took special care not to get any residue on our new rug. I would recommend The Chimney Dr. and use his services again.

Description of Work: Cleaning of a very messy chimney - and they made an extensive evaluation of what needs to be done to preserve the chimney (it's 100 years old ). We were very favorably impressed.

Description of Work: I had a serious leak in my living room. Last year a roofer was supposed to have fixed it. NOT. Wasted $200. In October, picked three chimney person from Angie's List to look at the problem. First person made me feel creepy. But he got on the roof, told me what he found and what it would cost to fix it. Second person didn't even get on the roof. He said that " the clock starts ticking when the ladder comes off the truck. But he told me that the mortar on the chimney needed to be redone to the tune of over $2000. The Chimney Doctor came when he said he'd come, climbed on the roof, did a water test to confirm the problem, came back when the said they would to fix the leak. Both times they came to the house, they arrived 10 minutes early and finished the work in the amount of ti e they said it would. There has been no sign of leakage and now I'm willing to do the ceiling and wall repairs and have the room painted.

Description of Work: We had our chimney rebuilt from the roof line up and new flashing installed. It was a sloppy job, to say the least. The flashing was supposedly 'step flashing' and it was horrendous. Parts of it weren't even snug to the chimney and it looked like they just used whatever pieces they had and stuck them up rather than trying to make it look professional. The brick work was also of poor quality. There are crooked ones intermingled in the chimney and the joints in some places are ridiculously wide. They also left a bunch of debris on our roof and sand/silt in our gutters. When we tried to contact the Chimney Doctor, but no one answered the phone so we emailed them with pictures of the job and our displeasure with the whole job. We got no response from our email so again, we phoned them and finally talked with the owner. He had received our email and saw the pictures, but said he would have to come look at it himself as he wasn't on the job when it was done.He came over the same day and initially, tried to justify what was done. He did admit that it was sloppy the way that it was left, but tried to say that this was what 'step flashing' was. We certainly disagreed and also pointed out the shoddy brick work. His response was that this wouldn't have happened if he was here. He trimmed some of the metal, caulked some spots, put some screws in and cleaned up the exterior and also gave us a free chimney inspection (which, by the way, we had requested one in the beginning, but it wasn't doneas he apparently didn't know we had wanted that???).

Description of Work: We had a leak around our chimney, Tom and Steve removed metal shingles that were decaying and replaced the flashing. Later they came back to install a metal chimney liner the length of the chimney and tied our gas furnace and water heater into the new unit, A city inspector said all looked good to him. We would recommend them.

Description of Work: I am just getting around to doing this, I am not really sure at this point what I paid, but it was fair and the work was good. They cleaned the chimney on my wood stove. They also looked at my fireplace and told me that it was not in need of a cleaning at this time.
