Another quote for the same job assumed that the circuits were just for major appliances even though I had told the electrician that there was aluminum in the branches of the house. Jim actually looked at the job without making assumptions and admitted that he wouldn't know for sure until he started tracing circuits. The work was complicated by the presence steel girders that couldn't be passed through and a cathedral ceiling with tongue and groove wood that we wanted to preserve. None of them ever complained either about the yuck factor with decades of rodent droppings in the wall cavities. The job ended up taking more than twice as long as his original estimate and cost comparably more. Because he had warned us ahead of time we were prepared for the greater expense, although not quite to the level it ended up being. Jim altered his prices because of this and was very fair and straightforward to deal with. He was also very patient when it came to the electrical inspections - our city is different than the others in the county on what needs to be submitted and it took us a couple of iterations to get the paperwork right.
