We are also similar to them in that we can give free estimates on new roof systems, but still unique in our installation techniques and material preference. As a leading repair company, we constantly adapt our installations processes to avoid problems that we have seen during thousands of leak repairs. We use science and our exposure to materials in the field to help us pick and install the best roofs available. We also provide chimney crown, mortar and flashing work.

Originally purchased a coupon for an inspection on a Leak around or near my Skylight. John came by and told me what it was and what his company could do for us. The price for the service to replace a Skylight and make sure the leak was stopped was $1100 plus of course the $50 I had already paid for the inspection. I thought that the price was a little steep but John told me it would be special order do to the ODD size. I wanted to go with someone who seemed to know and was willing to stand behind their work. They would get the job done as soon as the skylight arrived. Three weeks later they called me told me that the skylight had arrived and they were ready to install. First appointment was rained out, so we made it for the following week. His installers came on time they were very amicable and punctual. They explained what they were going to do and how long the job should take. As they were getting ready to install the skylight they realized it was the WRONG size. They informed me right away and told me that they were going to get another skylight. I was shocked and a little peeved, OK a lot peeved, they had made me wait FOR 3 WEEKS BECAUSE IT WAS A SPECIAL ORDER DUE TO SIZE and they could NOW magically just get another one somewhere. So was it a special order or were they going to just pick up a skylight at your local Home Depot,or would the skylight be of the same quality? I had no answers but I did HAVE a HOLE where my old skylight was. SO? I proceeded to call the contact number I had (a foreman or manager) in charge of the installing crew. I was so upset because I had no answer as to what was going to be done. He told me that the crew was going to get another skylight that was the right size which was a Standard size, he would call me back. I called John the owner, because I wanted to vent and to also negotiate for a better price since I did not need a SPECIAL ORDER OR ODD SIZE skylight. OK he started the conversation with telling me that he received a call from his manager and that i was giving HIM a hard time, that he had made a mistake because he wrote down the wrong size and now he would be stuck with a skylight that HE could not use. 1) That was his mistake not mine 2) Whatever happened to professionalism and explaining to the customer what was going to happen from that point on (I had a hole in my roof and no answers) 3) How about an apology if nothing else for making me wait 3 weeks 4) How about negotiating a better price, since this was a standard size and due to the inconvenience 5) BUT most importantly how about reassuring me that I would get the job done and that the quality of the skylight would be the same or comparable? Well non of that happened I was upset due to the things I mentioned above. I did raise my voice understandably so and John hung up. I attempted to call him back many times NO ANSWER! I called the Manager NO ANSWER but Finally he picked up we were both a little calmer He reassured me that his guys would be back and that the job would be done. I approached him about the price and his answer was that is the price thats what we contracted for and the price would be the same. Feeling a little bit like a hostage with a hole on my roof I ended the conversation. They did come back with the proper skylight looked the same quality as the other so I was somewhat relieved again his workers were the professionals and apologized for the inconvenience and aggravation. this skylight has a 5 year warranty but I hope nothing is wrong because I would hate to have this company comeback. I will not hire this company ever again and I would not recommend them to my friends and relatives.

Let's be clear. We will never do work for you again. I gave an estimate for $1100 to replace a skylight including labor and materials. No one with roofing insurance can beat that price. It was priced for a stock 22x30 Supreme skylight and that is what he got. He just doesn't know how to talk to people. Some people Yell and Scream to express their feelings. All that does is hurt my ears. It is very un-productive. When I asked my manager to acquire the unit, I wrote in our computer 20x30 as the size. When the skylight was ordered, my manager (Brian) ordered a custom unit because the stock size is 22x30. He didn't read the contract. He ordered what I wrote in 'Outlook'. After 2-3 weeks, we arrived to replace the unit. My man immediately realized we had the wrong size. Being an intelligent and very capable mechanic, he drove to acquire a stock sized 22x30 unit (which was what is written on the original estimate) and had it installed the same day. We normally take 1-2 weeks to turn around a job during 'Nor-Easter' season as things can get a little crazy here. My error cost this customer a week of WAITING (like traffic) Meanwhile, this customer called yelling at Brian about how he paid for a custom skylight and waited sooo long. Brian notified me of the unhappy customer. I called to explain that I made a mistake in ordering and that it was me and not my men who made the mistake and then THE YELLING. This is when I hang up. For me to order a $500 unit for someone (in error) only to throw it out, spend extra labor to complete the job properly and then be yelled at because a week was wasted is ridiculous. If you want the best company with the best effort to service you, understand we are human and deserve to be treated like humans. My mother always told me 'Treat others as you would want them to treat you.' That means, if I treat everyone fairly and honestly, I shouldn't have to be yelled at. If you are a yeller or think I (my team) are perfect, please call someone else. thx John O'Connell

I have used them twice in the past both times with great results. The owner John, is easy to talk to and really knows the business and has explained the roof process to me on terms I can understand. In the past when I had a couple leaks, three other contractors just wanted me to buy a roof and two didn't even go on the roof! Really? That shows no respect to me as a consumer. John is honest. He could have told me the roof needed to be replaced, but he didn't (he always goes up on the roof and takes pictures. He than comes down and explains everything to me),. I bet most other companies would have played on my fears and lack of roof knowledge, and I would have forked out money for a new roof. Working and running a business like his builds customer loyalty and gets you more jobs from referalls(or from here). John will be the one who installs my roof in a couple years because he has earned that trust from me and I know it will be done right. Just because he might not be the cheapest, when it comes to your roof, you better get it done right and he will. See you in a couple years and thank you.
Description of Work: I wanted a roof inspection to determine how much life the roof had left, and if it was good to go for the winter. I have used them before and they are very responsive and professional.

If you are willing to do the job right, John is your man. Otherwise, don't waste your time. However, John did not recommend unnecessary work. Leakstoppers did a full roof rip and replacement including all new flashings. Don't be put off if you only get voicemail when you call- John will call you back in the evening. I mostly dealt with Brian who answered emails quickly and the job went without a hitch. The workers did a good job cleaning up after themselves and were good to deal with. The roofing and flashing was neatly and correctly done (I am an architect). Highly recommended.

John came to assess the work and give an estimate. We decided to go with him as he was confident the leaks could be fixed without replacing the entire roof and his work is guaranteed. His crew worked two full days and showed me several pictures of what they found as they were making repairs. What really impressed me was that, as the work was in progress, the crew determined that they had to remove more siding and extend the repair work than previously thought. This was done with no additional cost to me. I would definitely recommend LeakStoppers to anyone that has a roof leak.

Came and gave estimate which included educating user about roofs. Very thorough. One thing that was not clear was the type of shingles available for the different options. Price was a little higher than others but reviews are excellent for quality of work. Came as planned on a Friday, finished on Saturday. So far, no leak. I would definitely have them give an estimate on any future job, though with an all inclusive 15 year guarantee (30 on the shingles) I don't expect to need a roof in this lifetime.

I called immediately following the record setting rain. John called back within a very short period of time and explained the volume of calls they had received since the storm and made his first available appointment with me a few weeks out. Based on his many positive reviews on this site I waited for him. I was very happy with his positive approach and apparent knowledge of the problem. After other companies failed attempts to fix this issue I understood his aggressive approach was the only thing left to do. Within a week he had a crew complete the work. The workmanship provided by Juan was excellent. The attention to detail was great. The crew cleaned up after a long day and a half of work and it looks as if they were never here. I will be very surprised if they have not resolved an ongoing problem I have had for years. I am going to pay them the highest compliment I can which is having them contact one of my children regarding a smaller but similar (and hopefully less expensive) problem. Being in a service oriented business myself I recognize that it is not possible to get an 100% approval rating but it looks like these guys are close.

Mr. O?Connell then left a message saying the next day that he was going to be away the day of the appointment and would come the following Tuesday which unfortunately didn't work for me. After leaving multiple messages, his foreman finally left a voice mail but the message was so garbled, the return number could not be deciphered so I left a message on the main phone number. At this point, I?ve left 4 messages overthe past 3 weeks and not one call has been returned. I?m not sure why he wasted both of our time for work he obviously didn't want to do.
Description of Work: I called Mr. O’Connell to get an estimate on a new roof. Upon talking to him, it was obvious that he was very knowledgeable about all aspects of roofing. After he conducted his assessment, he believed the issue was the lack of ventilation and could probably solved by adding 2 extra vents on the roof. The other option that he said that would fix the problem was to get a new roof. After I few weeks of deciding the best course of action, I called and said that I would like to go ahead with adding the vents.

Ladies, Gentlemen and [members name removed], I had a planned summer vacation with my wife and 2 children (ages 9 and 12) before the worst storm in history (14 inches of rain). During that time, my trusted Manager, Brian, was on his annual planned family vacation. Almost 200 messages on our recorder later, Brian returned the following Monday to dozens of messages, as I had left for my vacation. I can assure you all, that any message left with a clear audible phone number, gets a call back. Patience, a clear voicemail and an understanding that we are human (not machine) would have gotten you service. It is September 5th (AFTER THE HOLIDAY), we are caught up with all scheduled leak analysis, the phones are slowed down and I am available as early as Monday. If you would still like a professional repair, please call my cel phone at 631-678-1157. We never turn down or turn away work. Sometimes the phones are not serviced fast enough and we get a wait, but at the same time we might work 70-80 hours a week to return all calls ( I sometimes call back as late as 9:30 PM and my day starts at 6:30 AM). Good Luck, John

FANTASTIC!!!! First he came over himself to access what was needed. Then the crew he sent was excellent and they worked very hard completing their task. They cleaned everything up when they were finished. From that day on NO LEAKS in the basement. We are trilled with the work, especially after the rains that Long Island had lthe week of August 11th. OUR BASEMENT IS BONE DRY!!!!!!
Description of Work: He sent over a crew to extend the leaders out from the house and drain further away so that we didn't have constant floods in the basement. He wasn't sure that it would work, but he said it was worth a try since any other option would be much more expensive. He also fixed a gap between the gutters and the eave of the roof where he thought rain would be falling down close to the house. They also graded the soil up against the house for drainage.

All work was completed as outlined in the estimate. The slate roof was repaired and the front of the house shingles were caulked and sealed. Everyone from this company was knowledgeable and professional. The best part is that during the intense storm over the last 2 days there were no leaks. Great job from beginning to end.

I spoke to the owner, John, about an old wooden window that is leaking. John explained what he would do to fix the leak. I expanded on my intentions with the window and that I planned on eliminating it once I replaced my siding next year. I was looking for a quick inexpensive fix until then. John told me I was better off not having him do it and for me to try and silicone it myself (which I can) otherwise he would charge at least $250 to do it and it would be much cheaper if I tried it. He wen to on to explain all the areas I should try and seal. John could have easily come out and charged me $85 to tell me this but told me that's not how he does business, which I fully appreciate. I would absolutely call them again if I encounter future issues with my windows or roof.

John went on the roof and inspected it entirely. He is very knowledgeable about everything to do with a roof. He provided a written estimate with several options. He answered all my questions in person or on the phone. Also, I appreciated the great energy efficiency suggestions for my house. Several days later I spoke to John, told him which option I was going with and an appointment was set. Three workmen came exactly on time and fixed the roof per the contract. The men were very polite and left my deck and backyard spotless.

Mr. O'Connell visited the house first and diagnosed the problem accurately. He explained why the previous, costly repair by another contractor had failed, and what his workers would do to fix it. He asked a fair price for the work I had to communicate by phone with him a couple of times, leaving messages. He called me back promptly each time. Workers arrived on schedule and completed the work neatly and efficiently. Despite extremely adverse weather conditions since December 2013 the roof has held up. I would highly recommend this provider to anyone who requires roof repair or replacement.

John O'connell (owner) came on time for the initial roof analysis, following a leak that we experienced due to the ice dam formation. John has a very keen eye and he pointed out issues to me within the first few minutes, which two home inspections hadn't picked on. Things like the bathroom exhausts were not vented out, plywood behind the gable vent had not been cut open and the need to have roof louvers at peaks lacking ridge vent. John gave an estimate for the work that involved both installing new roofing in the affected part of the roof as well as doing certain work to make sure that the attic is always well vented to prevent a recurrence of ice dams. He also strongly recommended that I should order and install an attic door cover myself as one of the final steps. The day of the work, Brian, Bob and a third person came on time and worked almost continuously from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., going over the various items listed below. They were very professional and thorough in their work. Installed ice/water shield, arch roofing, aluminum step flashing and white Firestone APP 180 low slope roofing at rear wall joint below cricket. Installed 3 bathroom exhaust flanges with ducts. Installed 5 roof louvers at peaks lacking ridge vent. I'm very happy with their work and will not hesitate to use their services again or to recommend them to friends.

The owner, John, came to investigate an inside leak that extended from the ceiling of the pantry down to the side door. Without much inspection (I thought) he declared that the leak was from a second floor window that was poorly caulked. He gave me a price to caulk just the one window and also a price to caulk all 19 windows but there was no pressure to sell me a larger job. I decided to have all the windows done since they had not been caulked since they were installed. I also spoke to him about some minor storm damage issues we had with the trim around a window and the front door and he included that extra work in the estimate. The crew arrived promptly on the day of the appointment. The foreman got the crew started and then left our site. He was gone for much of the time and returned when the crew was nearing completion. They were getting ready to leave when I mentioned that the extra work had not been done yet. He sent his then tired and hot crew to fix the issues. Upon later inspection I noticed that as the work progressed it went from very good to good ? air pockets, overlaying caulk, etc. But nothing I can't live with. The crew could have definitely used an extra pair of hands. Overall I was very satisfied with the job. The crew did their job and cleaned up after themselves. John clearly knows his business as evidenced by his knowing the source of the leak almost immediately. I would use Leak Stoppers again for any future work.

John, the owner, went up on the roof to check out the problems. He advised me that two ridge caps needed to be replaced and the the other ridge caps needed to be sealed as they were not sealed down. In addition, he suggested sealing the bases of several vents and the two skylights with flashing cement. He also gave me other suggestions on things to do to increase the energy efficiency of the house. Since rain was in the forecast and a holiday weekend approached, he was hoping to get the job done sometime that week or it would have to wait until after the holiday weekend. I was concerned with the rain getting inside the roof attic but I was willing to wait until they could do the job. On July 3rd, Leak Stoppers crew arrived at 4pm to fix the roof. They worked in that heat and fixed the roof to my satisfaction. The next day it rained and rained. I was so happy that they had come before the rain and that I didn't have to worry about the rainwater getting in the house. Originally, I had a top rated roofing company replace my original roof with the current one. I had this missing ridge cap problem a few years later and called them to get it repaired. They reluctantly came out and put in a few nails and told me that they did it as a courtesy as they don't do these type of repairs. Now the same problem arises and I was lucky enough to find Leak Stoppers. John appears to be a very knowledgable person and you can tell he's encountered many different type of roof leaks. He has a good crew working for him and I like that everything was up and up. I hope I don't have to call him again because that would mean I have no leaks...but if you have a leak, definitely call Leak Stoppers. They live up to the name.
Description of Work: on June 20, they inspected roof and problem area with missing cap shingles and advised on what was needed to repair.

*Leak Stoppers did a nice job repairing our chimney, the new flashing looks clean and is a vast improvement. *They also identified the source of a heavy leak inside our home as coming from a poorly sealed door frame on a second floor deck. (Not having a storm door on the frame was also a problem which I was told allows rain water to get into the poorly sealed frame.) *I had leftover vinyl siding whichI asked them to use to replace a few spots on the side of my house where the vinyl siding had been damaged by landscaping. All of the work looks great and overall I am happy with the service. John, the owner was very knowledgable and explained things thoroughly. The siding came out great and like I said, the chimney flashing looks sharp. However, I was not too pleased when the foreman came to settle up with me at the end of the day without doing the work upstairs to the door frame. This leak was the main reason we contacted Leak Stoppers. It was clearly on the work order and it was apparent that the crew was tired and ready to go. The foreman was very professional and was quick to address the oversite. The same can not be said for one of his guys who threw his shirt back into the truck and angrily grabbed what he needed to finish the job. I also declined additional recommended service because I felt it was over priced. They offered to re-caulk 6 average sized windows at $60 a piece for a total of $360. I waited to review until we had some heavy rains that would test the work and so far so good. John clearly knows his business and is a skilled roofer. I would use Leak Stoppers again for future repairs, however I would prefer to see John at the jobsite, even if it's only to go over the job and get the crew started.
