Our main goal is to supply customers with services that our competitors don't want to do or don't know how to do. Mainly, we fix and guarantee other companies roofs. We are also similar to them in that we can give free estimates on new roof systems, but still unique in our installation techniques and material preference. As a leading repair company, we constantly adapt our installations processes to avoid problems that we have seen during thousands of leak repairs. We use science and our exposure to materials in the field to help us pick and install the best roofs available. We also provide chimney crown, mortar and flashing work.

Last fall I wrote a review regarding Leak Stoppers. I gave the company an A in all areas because they were able to stop a leak on my extension's roof where many others had failed. I gave the review an INCOMPLETE because I wanted to go through the winter to see if melting snow might get through my repair. I am now happy to say that neither rain nor snow has penetrated my roof. Well done, Leak Stoppers!
Description of Work: Found an elusive leak in my roof, knew the cause, and fixed it for good.

Two gentlemen arrived on the date agreed on, and worked diligently through the day, completing the job. They patched the roof and replaced the flashing around the skylights, patching the roof so that it is hardly noticeable plus replaced the skylights themselves. The new skylights are beautiful, open and close smoothly and seal tightly. They cleaned gunk off the roof and took away all of the debris from the repair. They left everything in pristine condition. With this year's cold and snowy winter, and right now on the hottest day of the year, we are so thankful for the quality craftsmanship and professional service of Leak Stoppers. The repair is excellent, money well spent for peace of mind and a snug and secure home.
Description of Work: Thoroughly examined our roof and immediately identified the source of leaks which were our three skylights. Our house was built in 1992 and those skylights were part of the original construction John explained how the leaks developed, went over our options, answered all of our questions and later that day sent us a detailed estimate. We opted to have the skylights replaced rather than just repair around them, thus the cost.

John came to assess the leak we had from our roof. He was very nice and knowledgable and explained everything to me so that I understood what needed to be done. He also made other suggestions for the future that would save us some money. John had his guys come back that afternoon to do the work. The two workers that came were also very nice and professional. They took pictures of the work they did and explained everything after they were done. We would definitely use them in the future.

Thank you for your APPRECIATION. Many people do not understand how my competitors lack a SERVICE Department. ALL companys (including ours) give FREE estimates starting at $5000 and up. These high prices for NEW ROOFS helps pay for FREE estimates. Unlike the rest WE offer a SERVICE that includes a SERVICE FEE. These PAID estimates have prices starting at $200 (very rare that I do a $150-$225 job, but I do help elderly and handicapped with small jobs when we can). **Our service fee is waived if work is done. To get the owner of a company (that has 13 employees, 8 trucks and a warehouse) to give a FREE estimate for $250 would never happen in the real world. And that's where we live. In the real world. The world where nothing is FREE. A roof salesman gets 7% of the sale. The average roof on long island is $9000. That is $630 pay for a guy who gave 5-8 FREE estimates and Sells 1 job. Doesn't sound FREE to me. A roof that could cost $8500 (3 hours to measure roof and process a contract is worth $130) costs $9000 because FREE estimates cause people to use 5 companies average to measure the roof (15 man hours or more) **I sell our roofs and only provide estimates to people who want it done right and plan on 'Staying' for more than 10 years. Problem with most 'new roof customers' is they do NOT care if their new Lifetime roof lasts past 15 years. 4 out of 5 customers are leaving in 5-10 years because of the taxes or 'when the prices come back up'. If your staying (like me with my young sons 10 + 12) and want your lifetime roof to have no problems for over 20-25 years with no maintenance, call us. If your leaving in 5-10 years, call us when you have a leak. We fix many of our competitors roofs
Leak Stoppers came to the rescue when we we woke up on the first Saturday morning in March to find water streaming through and around the windows in three rooms. They responded to this emergency within two hours and spent the afternoon dealing with an ice dam event, removing ice from the roof and gutters of our ranch style home. Before they left two of the windows had stopped leaking and the third was down to a slow ooze. They promised to return if this did not stop by the next day which it did. John offered us a free review of our home to' point out ways we could prevent the problem from reoccurring. On the date of our scheduled appointment, John took a great deal of time with us exploring a range of approaches that we could use to decrease the likelihood of a similar event next winter. In the interim my husband and I researched the condition as well as solutions and we were very pleased with the level of analysis that John brought to the problem. His flexibility and problem solving approach was a big plus for us. When he discussed solutions they included options at different cost levels and time lines. It was our choice to wait until May to complete the project. This provided us time to select the roofing tiles to be used. The workman that came to the house were prompt, courteous and professional. When some roofing shingles/ ridge vents did not match what we requested, they interrupted their work to hunt up the required materials. The supervisor on the job was able to explained aspect of the project as it unfolded; he accepted our detailed review and made adjustments on the spot. The crew cleaned up the grounds after the job was completed. Overall, we are very pleased with the work at each phase of the project. We would definitely recommend Leak Stoppers to friends and would seek them out again if needed for work within their area of expertise. .
Description of Work: In the beginning of March, they provided emergency service removing ice from roof and gutters. This was followed in May by creating a ridge vent in the roof and soffit vents under the eaves. They also installed two bathroom exhaust flanges, sealed base chimny and vent pipes, repaired air conditioning ducts.

Thanks for the A rating. In reference to your attic, I did check your attic. I saw that you had no soffit vents (from outside by using a ladder). I saw that your bathroom fan was pumping into the attic (by not seeing it come out through roof or soffit or wall). I walked the entire roof to find only minor roof delamination ( soft sheathing resulting from steam being pumped into a stagnant attic). I did view the area where massive ice damming damaged your interior, to theorize (re-create in my head) how much ice could form from the improper venting and heat loss into - your attic. To say that 'At this time, nothing needs to be done', after my explaining all this to you and providing estimates to 1- vent the bathroom fan through roof $375 plus tax (The most important thing in a house. **Bathroom fans rot dozens of sheets of plywood at a time, create mold, melt ice (causing ice dam destruction) 2- install 6 black roof louvers at peaks $600 plus tax (Ridge venting or roof louvers are necessary to cool attics in summer and winter. **Freezing cold attics DO NOT get ICE.) 3- install vented vinyl soffits with new aluminum capping (trim) on all sides of house $3500 (The existing vented aluminum soffit was covering a wood soffit with no holes in it (Not visible from the attic * or the ground. I used a ladder***) 4- install ice/water shield, new roofing, a chimney cricket and new chimney flashing 6 feet up from gutter in the ice damming area $1700 (This would protect the home if ice did occur again) These four items correct issues that are destroying the roofing, sheathing and interior of this home. GAF's Lifetime LIMMITTED Warranty is VOID as a result of these code infractions. They (Corporate America) love how roofers and homeowners are naïve to these details. With this scenario occurring at 9 out of 10 homes on Long Island, they are planning on replacing their own Lifetime Timberline roofs with new Lifetime Timberline roofs about every 10-15 years (using Licensed and insured - Certified Salesman to do the dirty work) Thanks again for the rating but lets be clear, I did check your attic and you do have things that need to be done. I also gave you an alternative way to introduce air into attic rather than spending $3500 on new soffits. Well, Good luck!!!

John went through many of the issues identified and when he provided the estimate and it was suggested we wanted to look into other providers as well he got angry and belligerent. He demanded the deposit and said he would not leave the house without it. My parents are in there mid-80's and he actually was rude and banged his fist on the table. Are you kidding me?? I recommended this company as I have always had positive results from Angie's List and now I feel like a fool upsetting my parents so. I obviously only know one side but regardless you do not treat elderly folk with disrespect and aggression. I am extremely embarrassed and disappointed for being so trusting with the prior positive reviews.

I spent 2 hours inspecting MOM's attic, roofing, gutters, insulation and venting, I concluded that the roof was professionally done (by a competitor) and that to correct the ICE DAMMING leaks we would need to install soffit vents (that the house was not built with), add weather-stripping to leaking attic access doors and vent the bathroom fans out of attic rather than into attic. After the explanation I presented an estimate for over $2000 to repair and guarantee the ice damming issue that had plagued their home for years. After decades in the home and recently purchasing a New LIFETIME TIMBERLINE roof system, they were annoyed. The wife then said 'Well. We know people in the business and we can get this done cheaper than this.' I said as always 'That's fine. We are one of the only companies with proper insurance and real guarantees, so I believe you could. Pay me for my time and I wish you luck with that. The wife questioned the fee, I explained and the husband (who had made the call) agreed. The wife was not happy that I charge a fee. She had never dealt with a professional contractor before. The minute she got the info she wanted from me, she was kicking me out the door. Realizing that her husband had agreed to the fee, she looked at me with disgust and told me to 'Leave a bill.' I said 'Your service has been completed. I receive payment upon completion. Cash, check or charge.' She said 'We don't have it.' I said 'Listen. Don't think your going to disrespect me and then have me chase you for my money. I am an honest hard working man. None of my paying customers want to pay for your time. I own this company, so I will not sit here and be talked down to by you. You obviously do not like me, you've made that clear. Pay me what I've earned and I'll be on my way.' The husband paid the fee that they agreed to and I left knowing that these ignorant (entitled) people and their daughter (who didn't call me before writing this comment) would not be serviced by my company ever again. I am a professional and demand to be treated as one. Any customers reading this that feel I owe them something or that they know more than we do, Please do not call.

Called Leak Stoppers on a Thursday I believe and met with John that Saturday. John looked the job over and gave me several solutions and prices. After agreeing on which way to go a date for the repair was tentative due to the cold and snow. Sure enough as soon as the snow melted a few weeks later Johns crew was at my home, pulled off all the siding and insulation on the top of my house. Resealed with new tar paper all around the window, chalked and replaced the insulation and siding. Replaced all the aluminum trim around the window and then headed to the roof and re-tarred all around the chimney and flashing. So far we have had some rain but nothing flood-like and so far so good. The work is top quality, neat and through, the crew and John are very professional and know their stuff. It is nice to deal with a company that truly care about their work quality and the customers satisfaction, a pleasure.

They did a great job on a large commercial roof. After they performed the inspection I purchase they provided me with an estimate to make the necessary repairs to the roof. There were a couple of issues with getting the leaks to stop but every time I called to report it and ask that come back out to make more repairs, they did without issue. They told me there was a 2 year warranty on their work and it is obvious they stand by it as they made several visits to get the repairs correct. Very happy with them on the whole.

John arrived promptly and on schedule after my initial call expressing concern that water was leaking into my basement, causing corrosion and damage to my basement gas fireplace. (I had initially used his services to successfully repair a leak in my kitchen ceiling the previous fall.) As he had done previously, He quickly was able to assess the problem and fully explained to me the work that needed to be done and why. His estimate took place in January, when it was too cold to do the work, so I called back in April after temperatures were above the required 40 degrees, and made an appointment for the following week. Due to a cancellation, Ashely called and inquired if I could move up the date, which worked out fine for us. Dennis and two other workers arrived around 9 am on the appointed day and set right to work...and they worked right up until 5 pm, neatly and efficiently. The fellows were polite and fastidious. Although it has not yet rained sufficiently to determine if my fireplace no longer leaks, I am confident that if I do have any further problems, John will give it prompt attention and do whatever might be needed to remedy. I will definitely call Leak Stoppers Incorporated for any further needs and happily recommend them !

It was a very positive experience. John explained everything clearly and never tried to sell me anything. He even told me that my roof was perfectly fine despite other companies Insisting I had to install a new one. The men who came to do the work were very polite and cleaned up when they were finished. Throughout the whole process, I knew I would be able to have all my questions answered. Ashley in the office was always quick to respond and very helpful. I also have peace of mind knowing that their work is guaranteed. Thanks so much!

If you have leaking windows and ice damming, don't call a roofer to send a roof salesman for Free. They give FREE Estimates for what they are selling. Not what you need. SERVICE technicians (not salesman) fix leaks. Honest and experienced technicians would never sell someone a roof if the windows are leaking. That's ridiculous!!! If you have leaks. Give us a call. If you know for sure, that you need a roof, give us a call. We too give FREE estimates for roofing (using a salesman that understands leaks). Thanks for your rating.

I was told the service team would arrive between 8-9, and they were there at 9. Selvin was very courteous and polite and took off his shoes when he came into the house, as he had to go up in the attic. (I never do this myself, so that was nice). He explained what was going to happen and showed me the boxed fan. A little over an hour, the job was done, and he told me all that they did. The experience with Leak Stoppers was very positive, as it was in 2013. They are very reliable, and Ashley in the office, made sure the problem was addressed in a very timely manner. Thanks, Leak Stoppers!!

John came to the house to assess the situation and gave us two options. Was very knowledgeable and fair. We didn't hire him immediately as we were giving the contractor who installed the sunroom the opportunity to fix the leaks. After numerous attempts to stop the leaks, we contacted Leak Stoppers to come in and do the job right. No more leaks! The crew was very prompt, efficient and neat. Very satisfied with the job. This job was completed prior to the devastating winter season we just endured and the roof held up. Would use Leak Stoppers again in the future and highly recommend their services.
