Rocky has pros and cons associated with it. Overall I would buy from them again if they had a product I couldn’t get elsewhere or there was a very significant price difference for the same product, but I would have mixed feelings about it. Pros: SOME people who work there are very welcoming and friendly. Everyone there clearly knows their stuff. Pricing is clear and quotes are fast if you go armed with your design. Love that they quote you in a way that you can know what almost any slab in the facility will cost you. Pricing is fair, and in some cases lower than several other fabricators in the area. Huge selection that can be viewed indoors, including some brands that only they carry locally. Love that they will let you go look on your own in the warehouse. Templates that they make are life size so you can hold them up against your slab and choose how you want your veining and seams to be placed - much easier to visualize this with this type of template than with a computer rendering that others use. Seams are excellent, although that’s partially because I chose a product that is not super challenging from a seam placement standpoint. Installation crew and templating guy was awesome. Also Madison who works in the sales team was excellent and I would recommend asking for her. She’s much easier to work with than some of the other salespeople. Cons: Some people who work in sales are not welcoming and make you feel like an intrusion. Policies are very strict about what they will or won’t do - more so than other local fabricators. For example, for some products they absolutely will NOT provide a sample. This is extremely frustrating when you need to select other materials such as tile and paint. I’ve never worked with a vendor that won’t give or at least loan you a sample. They tell you to bring your other materials into their facility and make your selections onsite. This is completely ridiculous and ineffective, because the light is wholly different there than in a home, and it requires you to go visit them with other samples over and over again. I probably went there 8-10 times to see other materials held up against my slabs, and even then I was really stressed knowing that it all would look different in my home due to lighting. The lack of samples is the biggest reason I would avoid doing business with them again unless they carried a product I couldn’t get elsewhere. I went to almost every fabricator in town to look at slabs, and no one else refuses to provide samples. Another policy issue - they will only make one size thickness of backsplash, which is unusually thick. This is not attractive in my opinion, but more importantly, affects your faucet placement. The extra thickness is small (either 1/4 or 1/2” - I can’t remember which), but it’s in an area that very small to being with so the difference really matters. It crowds the back of the faucet, making it look odd, difficult to clean behind, and depending on the design of the faucet can interfere with being able to pull out the drain stop far enough to close the drain. I had to have my vanity placed out slightly from the wall to accommodate this. Had I not been using a designer I never would have known this would be a problem and known how to deal with it. Also, they don’t like to move slabs for you. If you need multiple slabs and want to see each one before purchasing, they just tell you they are all the same (NOT true, even for quartz). Templating is done by hand and tape measure, not via laser measurement, which is what most fabricators use these days. They literally lay huge sheets of plastic over your countertop and carve the pieces with a knife to make the template. While I liked that this made it easier to pick the seam placement, it is not as exact as a laser, and resulted in a gap between the wall and the counter that was unacceptable to me. I was told that the gap is necessary in order to get the counter in place, because they had to set it down from the top between two walls. If that’s the case I should have been warned and been able to decide what to do. In my case, the reason they couldn’t just slide the slab in from the front (which would have eliminated the need for the large gap) was that a door frame was in the way. Had I known that would be an issue, I would have had the contractor remove the frame. But the person doing the templating never told me that either the frame would need to be removed or they would need to cut the end a little short to get around the frame. And the worst part is that the end of the counter where the gap is was not cut straight, so it’s noticeably wider in some parts than others. This has to be due to the hand vs laser templating process. Either that or someone made a mistake cutting it. They had no good solution for the problem except to put a side splash over it, which I did not want, or caulk it. But the gap is much too wide to look decent with caulk, and the caulk will highlight the unevenness of the gap. Solution is still TBD. More cons - they will not template small pieces such as shower benches and curb pieces. You have to make your own template and bring it to them. Better hope you measure exactly right, and don’t need any wonky pieces like I did. Also, during the decision making process where you decide what parts of the slab to use for what areas of the counter, it’s clear that they want you to cut the slab in such a way that they have big enough remaining pieces to sell at full price rather than as a remnant. Which I can understand I guess, because you pay by the foot not by the slab, but it’s frustrating to be steered away from what you may want. I didn’t push the issue so I don’t know whether they would have acquiesced if I had. So all in all I give them a B. While I had many frustrations, they really shine at price and a huge material selection, which I value a lot. I wanted a very authentic looking marble veining color and pattern, and to not have the little dots that are common in quartz. The Mont brand, which is only carried by Rocky in the Rochester area, was far superior in meeting these desires than any other quartz, so I’m grateful to have found it at Rocky.

They were very accommodating and friendly. The only glitch was a mis-communication on the time of the installation: They called ahead expecting to install while I was at work; I refused and instead was able to work out a time on the day of installation when I would be home. The installers were polite and neat. They used drop cloths and cleaned up any mess. They were very helpful with answering my questions and offering tips on the new product. Their price was also much better than another business we had received a quote from for the exact same product. My kitchen looks great.

I purchased the countertop 7/5/2013 through Lowes. Rocky Mountain was punctual in setting up a date for the template. The day before the install they called and set up a time for the install. On the day of the install (8/28 - 7 weeks after the order was placed), after our temporary sink was removed, they called to let us know that they did not have the sink. Later that day a temporary sink was installed and two of the three countertops installed. The installation of the two countertops went well. The fit was good with the exception of a four inch section of a cut-out that was made on site. The gap is small enough that it will be covered by tile backsplash. Installers ran about 1 hour late from the two hour window that was established. Stone dust in the driveway was necessary to make cut-outs in counter. I washed it up. On that day we established a date for a sink install that they were comfortable with. I'll update this review on the date, 9/6, that they established as the revised install date.

Our overall experience with this company was excellent. Price, professionalism, quality of product and workmanship, and staff friendliness were all terrific. We highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Wife and I visited Rocky Mountain Granite in Feb, 2013 for granite countertops in our kitchen. Granite slab inventory selection was vast and indoors. We had brought kitchen dimensions and sketch with us (highly recommend) so an estimate was given quickly. A description of the process was also provided. Staff was friendly, professional and patient (with such a large selection of granite, we spent a great deal of time making a decision). Waiting time from selection to installation was about 4 weeks. Rocky Mountain provided recommendations of handyman contractors who could tear out our old counters and install the new plumbing once the granite was installed by Rocky Mountain. The recommended contractor was excellent.

Very personable staff , was very patient as we made our choices. The whole process was very well explained. They don't quote by square foot, they quote by the job. Once I provided rough measurements, they quoted me based on all the levels their products are segmented into. I could then walk the slab room and know what granites fit into my budget. All of the backsplash and edge options are also quoted at that time. It took about 4 weeks from order to install. Final price I paid was very comparable to big box stores with the added bonus of being able to see a large sample of the material.

Visited the office of this company to buy a slab of marble cut to a specific size for a kitchen island. We selected the marble, filled out the required form with measurements etc. The next day we relieved a quote by email and responded that we accepted the quote and to go ahead. Two weeks passed with no communication so we phoned to find out when the marble would be ready and were told that the secretary was out to lunch and would call us back--she didn't. We called again and she told us that the marble hadn't been cut because we had to come back and fill out forms. We explained that we had already done that so then she said that they needed 50% and quot;up frontand quot;. We asked why no one had told us about that since we had clearly said that we wanted to have the marble cut. At this point she became quite unfriendly so we said to forget the whole thing. I will never use this company again and recommend that others choose a different company.
Description of Work: My husband and I visited the company and selected a piece of marble to be cut to a specific size to fit a little work bench we had bought to use as an island in our kitchen. We filled out the required for with the measurements and were told we would receive an estimate by email. We accepted the estimate and requested that they cut the marble and let us know when it was ready for pick-up. We heard nothing more until we called (twice) two weeks later and were told that the forms had not been filled out (they had), a fifty percent deposit had not been paid (we hadn't been told) and nothing had been done.

Stay away from this company. provided a blue print to quote new counter tops. They supplied a quote. Then found out they had a sale for around $45 sq ft for select material. Visited the showroom and asked they calculate the square footage (I had already done this). They confirmed my number. When I multiplied the $45 times my square footage and added cut out, tear out etc, The number was $600 less. I was informed they and quot;don't quote by the sq ft, only by the job.and quot; I then asked why they advertised on their website a special for $45/ sq ft? The answer was and quot;we gave you a quote.and quot; When I caught them in the scam I was told and quot;the $45 sq ft didn't include labor.and quot; This is a classic sales scam designed to cover up the actual cost of the product and waste your time.

This was the first stone yard I tried. They were very personable, spent time talking to me, and they have a huge selection of granite. They don't give samples until you sign a contract, which I thought was standard until I found that most other yards do provide samples. They now put granite names instead of codes on their slabs. I found they were more expensive than some of the other yards.

It went very well! Superior Countertops (the Corian side of the business) came out to measure the kitchen within one week of our purchase and installed the countertops one week later than the measure! Amazing timeline compared with estimates we had received from other companies of 8 - 12 weeks between purchase and installation. The counters are spectacular! My only 'complaint' would be that they were not very punctual in their arrival times. We were given a timeframe of 10 am - 12 noon for the measure and they didn't arrive until nearly 1 pm and did not call to let us know they were running late. Same thing happened for the installation, but at least I knew what to expect by then!

It turned out to be fabulous. They had a huge selection of granite and they were better than any other place in Manchester in terms of their selection. Their staff was extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable. They were ready for me when I had my appointment. It was a fabulous place. They sold granite for all different applications. We have been there several times till we got their inventory and then we decided to order with them. We have been thinking about definitely using them again in the future when we did our kitchen.

I have marble in the other bathroom so I decided to have granite put in this bathroom. A month ago, I went and picked up two counters. The big one was put along the wall and the smaller one was put by the door. We got back and checked if it looked good. It looked great. The price I got for it was a $400 difference. They were very punctual. I will be using them again.
