They finished on time. It was very well done. They were easy to deal with. That's the only guy I use for just about anything I need. My interaction with them was very good. The work turned out perfect. He's easy to deal with and professional. I would absolutely use them in the future.

Matt was very professional and did EXCELLENT work. My wife and I had a window in our kitchen replaced with a door so that we could access our patio via the kitchen (Pace installed the door). We hired Matt to install the 4 steps leading down from the door. He spent all day on the job and his work is flawless. The steps are made of Azek material and the railings are Trex. My ONLY complaint is that Matt originally quoted us at $500-$600 for the job and we said ok. The week of the actual job he came for a final measurement. He then quoted us "between $600-$1000". He recommended we use Trex for the railing so we could save about $100 so we said ok. He built and installed the steps and then after the job was complete sent us an invoice for $1200. He told us the materials alone cost $900. My only complaint with him is that he should have been able to give us a better more accurate estimate from the beginning. The final job was twice the original quote. Other than that he did excellent work.

First and foremost, Matt is a skilled, hardworking, and artistic craftsman. He shows ingenuity when approaching a project, and is able to adeptly work with challenging and interesting project ideas. For our deck project, involved was the demolition of an existing retaining wall, patio, deck, and tree roots, and the design and construction of deck (pressure treated lumbar), patio, and retaining wall (manufactured stone product). The demolition itself proved to have its unforeseen challenges--the need to break apart a large concrete slab, the removal of some tons worth of railroad ties--but Matt and his team worked around these issues with skill and a positive, hardworking nature. The deck construction itself went extremely smoothly and quickly, and Matt was able to change and augment several aspects of the plans according to our ideas and what we were looking for. The retaining wall and patio, constructed by a team that Matt works closely with, was done with rapid skill in their construction. The new patio/retaining wall and deck have become already the best place to sit in the house! We couldn't be happier with the completed project, it has transformed the home and the back yard, and we have Matt and his team to thank for it--we definitely recommend Matt Laird for similar projects!

We highly recommend Matt Laird for your decking needs. We are demanding customers and overall, Matt and his team met our expectations with high quality work. Matt was attentive to the few concerns we had before (during the planning), during and after project completion. In addition, he is very willing to learn new things (this was the first Zuri deck he's installed and probably the first Zuri deck installed by anyone in Rochester), and was always open to our ideas and preferences. Anything that wasn't quite right in our minds he attended to right away and he made it right. He and his team are hard workers, polite and courteous at all times, arrived when they said they would, and always cleaned up behind themselves. We have received many compliments on the finished product and the craftsmanship.

Matt was the lowest of 3 bids for this job. I had seen work done by the other two bidders on similar projects, but I was impressed with Matt when I first met him. I took at a deck he was completing and made up my mind right then. Matt handled everything quickly and efficiently. He was here when promised and had the job done on time. He was open to the few changes I made as the job progressed, he always answered my questions completely and in an unhurried manner. Matt's finished project looks great! My wife and I could not be happier. I heartily recommend him for his fair price and excellent work.

Matt Laird did a fantastic job. He removed our old second-story deck (no stairs) and installed the new deck with stairs. Matt was professional and a very hard worker. He responded very quickly to our initial inquiry and came to our house with samples of decking materials, railings, etc. Matt was able to suggest and solve a multitude of issues as the deck presented many twists and turns. Provided a detailed estimate for the job and an estimate of start and completion times. Also gave us options for pressure treated and composite materials. Friendly courteous people performed the work in just a couple of days. The quality of the work is top notch and they care about the finished product. Other companies were giving me start dates two to three months out. These folks started in two weeks I will contact them again if I need other repairs

I was looking to have plans drawn up for a room addition. I expected the deal was offering a 3D draw up of what I was looking for. The technician came out and I told him what I was looking for. I emailed them a few weeks later to follow up on what we had discussed and to see when I would receive my floor plan. He told me that the deal price would go towards an architectural drawing and I would have to pay additional fees to have drawn up what I was looking for. I felt like the deal was a bait and switch. I felt like our initial meeting went fine. I am not sure who I dealt with on the phone about the plans afterwards. I had no problem contacting them or scheduling the deal .They came out fairly quickly. I would not recommend this company to a friend.

Matt is a really good guy and a dedicated, finicky person. His attention to detail is excellent and he has a very down-to-earth personality. You definitely get what you pay for with Matt! We are happy with the results and look forward to Matt getting more jobs at the house when we need some more projects completed. You can't go wrong with having Matt doing anything that requires construction!

Matt designed the deck, got a permit, and supervised the work. Although the wet summer made scheduling difficult, they worked long hours to complete the work before our deadline when we were going away. We love the deck, and would highly recommend Laird Associates to anyone looking for deck work.

I had Matt build my deck last summer. He did such a good job that I hired him to remodel my basement. He worked with me seamlessly, as I wanted to do some of the work myself, and had plans that I drew up. Matt is a true craftsman, as he came up with ideas to insure my basement came out perfect. He did all the framing, drywall, drop ceiling, doors(five sets of bi-folds), and trim, to finish approximately 550 sq ft. He is always very punctual, and has great communication skills to help you understand all aspects of the job. I would not hesitate for a minute to hire Matt again for any home remodel/construction. He signifies what Angies List is all about.

Great! Matt tore out walls down to studs and rebuilt everything including HVAC,exhaust, plumbing & lighting. Room looks awesome.

They did a wonderful job. All of the tasks we asked for were performed with skill and care. This was our first large home improvement project that we hired a contractor for, and we were nervous how to communicate our needs and understand the costs and time frame. Matt was more than understanding with all of our questions, he would generally return my emails in 24 hours, and also, if I got home before they left for the day, he would walk me through all the steps they'd taken that day, and what the schedule was. When we had changes, or ran into obstacles, we worked through them together and I never felt left out of the decision making. I really appreciate that Matt and Alex went beyond what was necessary and took the time to let us know what would look better in our plans and what didn't make sense for the layout or if something would cost extra that wouldn't improve our back yard. We even ran into some electrical issues with the outdoor lights, and Matt made sure to resolve the problem at a minimal cost to us and reduced my stress level with the problem. Thank your both for all of your hard work, we absolutely love the results.

From the initial design discussion Matt was very responsive and provided good suggestions how to layout to meet our needs. The deck was somewhat of a challenge due to the soil in our yard containing fill from our builder. But the team did a good job getting all posts set and installed to provide a very solid framework for the deck. The town building inspector made what could be viewed as unreasonable damands- but Matt was able to work with him to complete the construction close to on time. Overall the deck is really well built and we are very happy with the final product. The final price came in on budget- was a fairly expenssive deck, but we build a large deck with Trex railings and some nice additional feature-not your standard deck. Matt and his team were very professional and neat and we would recommend them to others.

Matt had given me a very good price on my deck project, and completed the job in a timely manner. He is very knowledgeable about decks and construction, and does not cut corners with his jobs. Everything was built to my liking and to town codes. In fact, the town inspector commented on the fine job he did. Matt is very easy to communicate with, and always returns calls which is important. All the bids I received were from Angies List contractors, and Matt's bid had the best value for me. Matt completed each stage of construction on a daily basis so that it could be inspected the following day. So the total job was completed on time taking into account the town's inspection schedule. I would not hesitate to recommend Matt or use his services for myself in the future.

The deck turned out to be beautiful, Matt Laird did a wonderful job it looks absolutely gorgeous. I couldnt ask for anything more, the price was right around what i wanted to spend, Matt had set a start date and he started on that day. They were very friendly and helpful i couldn't be happier.

Matt had to replace aluminum siding that is no longer made, had to remove metal rails that were attached to house. This was a difficult project that had many challenges but he was thorough, neat, and was able to create beautiful steps while working with many obstacles. He took his time to do the job right. Many neighbors marveled at his excellent work and want to hire him.
