+ -1 moreWe had a problem with our sump pump alarm in our crawl space. We thought it was installed by Basement Technologies of Western NY and called them. We all quickly realized they did not install our system, yet the woman who answered the phone gave us 10 minutes of free advice! She took her time, answered all our questions even though she knew she would not charge us. I am very grateful. This was pure old fashioned kindness. No money paid but we hade detailed, free advice. I would use them if I lived in their service area.
Description of Work: Needed advice about malfunctioning alarm on our sump pump.

+ -1 moreI received honest professional advice free of charge that may potentially save me thousands of dollars. This advice may help me solve my problem completely, but in the event that I need foundation repair or desire further waterproofing, I will be calling Basement Technologies of WNY.
Description of Work: I called Basement Technologies of WNY and spoke to Kansas about water coming into my basement. I found a small hole outside in a corner cement block just below grade, and water was streaming out between the mortar of one cement block inside my basement just above the floating slab and landing on top of the floating slab. Based on the flowing water (and a lack of seeping water or cracking walls), it was not likely that there was standing water in the walls, but rather a blockage of the weep holes in that particular area that caused the water to find another way out between the mortar. It was recommended that I or a mason replace the damaged exterior block, back fill and regrade the ground away from the foundation, clean and reroute the gutter downspout further away from the damaged corner, and observe the results prior to considering a foundation wall replacement. Further advice was given on dehumidifiers to reduce moisture in the basement in addition to central air conditioning.

+ -1 moreHe explained everything over the phone, like not to use a simple Joe person to do foundation repair because it could be problematic later and to explain to the City of Rochester in order to get a time extension to do foundation repair until March when the temperatures are warmer than 45 degrees. He also gave me an estimate of how much that a 4 feet by 5 feet foundation repair would cost which is $3,500 to $7,000. He said his company can't risk doing this kind of repair at this time of year, but to find a highly rated mason contractor through BBB and see if they are able to repair in this kind of cold weather. In addition, if a mason contractor still can't do it, he said to put up wood covers until spring time. He's a great, honest guy that I would recommend to anyone.
Description of Work: He responded to my phone call about foundation repair. He explained that at this time of year it would not work under 45 degrees and recommended that I find a good mason contractor through BBB to see if they can repair at this point.

+ -1 moreBasement Technologies of Western NY did an outstanding job. The technology of the Water Trek Aqua Route and the Cove Base design does work. The once wet area of our basement is now a dry area of the basement. Thank you, Patrick McDonald and crew for a job well done!

+ 0 moreThey took time to really understand the problem. I think the solution they proposed made sense. They didn't go over board. They were comparable with everybody else on price. I don't know how it works yet because we haven't had a lot of rain or snow yet. I watched the work they did. It was good. But, I just hope it works.
